Brrrr...but it was worth going. DH and DS did walk in the family 5K and enjoyed just about everything about the event. They thought it was very well organized and fun to do. We've tentative plans for many more of us to participate in that event in 2012.

We enjoyed walking to MK, and being on the monorail. Our Boston born and bred DGC and DS swam on 2 days! DDiL and I made it into the hot tub, DSis and DH never made it even that far!

The dedicated 2 bedroom was fine for the 8 of us. The dishwasher was hard for us to use, and even when Juan came up to show us how, right after he left, it stopped again, going into delay. Eventually we figured it out, but even then, we were sometimes surprised to find the dishes weren't done, "delay mode" had kicked in. The cooktop was hard for us to keep looking good, shiny, even with the cleaner they provided, and I didn't cook much.

Early in December someone here posted about hard it was to get toilet tissue. I took note of that when we went to VWL in December and found that wasn't the case. We had 2-3 rolls to start and there was never a problem, just 2 in a studio. However it was a problem for us at BLT. I know our master bathroom had 1 extra to start, and when it was opened, I had to call down twice, and when it was replaced, we were given 1 and this was a 3 bathroom villa!

On the 4th day, housekeeping took the used towels and just left a pile of clean towels in the kitchen. DH called and said how disappointed he was with that service. We did not get any soap/shampoo replacement. They did come for another service the next day when the towels were put where they should be, trash was taken out, and we did get more soap. However, there was not another toilet tissue roll in any of the bathrooms!

It seems to us as if each of the DVC resorts sets its own standards of housekeeping.

I have to give Member Satisfaction a kudo for a Kim Possible sort of mission. I was "found" on vacation by a CM to address an issue that I had written about. That was interesting to me because there wasn't a message on my home phone, the CM looked for me first on vacation!

Our family really enjoyed the amenities of the resort. The Community room and staff were excellent. Some of them knew about as much as I did about a playstation, :confused3but usually there were some other kids there to help us out. The supplies like colored crayons, pencils, markers were well stocked, sharpened and plentiful. That's one deficit we had found at the Beach Club, the crayons that we've used there were usually broken and sorely in need of replacing. One of my DGDs enjoys drawing and coloring, and she made me a beautiful button that I'm proud to wear! This DGM finally got to try a Wii...4 of us enjoyed the Toy Story Mania game one night.

BLT owners, you have a lovely resort!

Thanks for the nice trip report! It sounds like you had a grand time with the grandchildren. :cloud9: I wonder what's with the t.p. :confused3 No one should have to request that on a regular basis.

Yes, we have had a cold snap here in Central Florida for the last week. It is finally starting to warm up today.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time (with few exceptions) and looking forward to your next visit. BLT is a great resort and I'm glad to see that you took advantage of all it has to offer.

Thanks, Robert! Hi Muhlenberg!

One thing which we will always "take", is that the room was ready for the Boston branch of the family who arrived via ME around 11. They were in their suits and ready to swim:cold: when we got there around 1!

We did use the Monorail! DS asked if we could breakfast at Kona, and sure enough we were able to snag an 8AM ADR for Saturday. We watched all of the brave 1/2 marathoners as we rode above them. There were lots and lots of faithful cheerers riding along as well!

We went to the lounge to watch the fireworks last Wednesday, it was cold, but beautiful. Thursday we had a great position inside the MK and the DGC were so impressed with seeing Tink fly! On Friday, a few of us went up again but the clouds hid the fireworks. We did the Wishes Fireworks Pirate cruise (lap blankets provided:goodvibes) on Saturday and that was fabulous, so crisp and clear. What a difference a night makes! The DGC are just like me, they love the fireworks. That's one very wonderful reason to book BLT. Even the Pirate cruise is very convenient.

We went up to Nocotee on Sunday where our family hopes to relocate, and stopped at Blue Springs SP on the way back. That morning 302 manatees were counted in the spring. We arrived there around 4PM and I'm guessing we saw about 100 of them.

This was a wonderful vacation. Our next all-family trip begins in June and lasts for 9 nights!

I have been in Florida 12 years and have not seen that many manatees. You really had a good time with your family.

Thanks, Bobbi, for the post. Thinking of going during Marathon Weekend in 2011. How did you find the crowds?

Great post, Bobbi. This family is thinking about hitting the marathon as well next year. My son will be 17 - too young for the full, but old enough for the half. So he and his dad may be running next year. We're looking at an OKW two bedroom for the three of us because we're going to have points to burn next year and the guys can walk to the start from OKW.

It's been a few years since all three of us have been there for the marathon weekend.

Sounds like a great trip, Bobbi! :goodvibes I love that your whole family goes together and has fun together. That is just CRAZY about the toilet paper, though!! :scared1: It just cracks me up that Disney lately has been homogenizing every restaurant, drink menu & store with the same, the same, the same everywhere you go...but how much toilet paper is needed in a villa and where to put some new towels- well, THAT's where they let creativity run WILD!! :rotfl::rotfl:

i'm glad you had fun, and made the best out of that cold!!!!

As far as the crowds go, we found the parks very manageable, but we did not spend all day in any park, and it was quite cold during our stay. On Saturday we went to Epcot, future world only, and left around 2. There were always FPs for Soarin, we went on it twice. Nothing was needed for Test Track, we got to go on a second time without getting off. The longest lines were for the Character place, and that was about 1/2 hour. However, it was very cold on Saturday, and a bit rainy...sleety in the AM. I had a poncho on, so mostly we stayed in the Land, Living Seas, Energy, inside buildings.

The park we visited most was MK and we waited for Ariel's signature for over 1/2 hour Thursday evening. The Speedway in Future world always had longer lines than we wanted to wait in, but we went on Buzz Lightyear a few times with only a 5 -10 minute wait.

There were still long waits for Toy Story Midway Mania and fast passes went fast!!!

You noticed many people speaking different languages. There were lots of foreigners.

We had visited Blue Springs SP in December and that day 100 manatees were counted in the morning and there were about 25 -30 around noon when we were there. Sundays visit was remarkable!
