Okay, Back again! Time to get caught up with "Shout-outs."
celerystalker. I am so glad you enjoyed your episode. And thanks for all the fun comments. I like the GEICO cavemen commercials, too. All of them. I am a commercial critic in general, and enjoy series commercials. Some have a good idea but bad execution. Some have a poor idea, but the execution is so good that it “works.” The cavmen series strikes me as one of the second type: an odd concept to use for an insurance ad, but it was done so well that it works beautifully. Like you, I am curious about the new El Rio del Tiempo, or whatever it turns out to be called when it’s remodeled. My next episode will cover that ride prior to renovation, and speculate on one element which may remain in the new version, only with a twist.
UtahMama. Thanks. I thought the 100th Reader dedication would be fun. I really appreciate everyone who reads and takes time to tell me so. And I only need 162 more readers to catch up to Zzub. Not that I’m counting or anything.
As for Spaceship Earth, if you work out the symbolism of going backward into the future and forward into the past, let me know, ‘cause I’m still befuddled about that!
Minnie_Moo: Thanks. That Liquid Papyrus thought came out of nowhere and surprised even me. Thanks for the vacation well wishes. The weather forecast is starting to shape up favorably! I’ll post El Rio del Tiempo before I leave.
Backstage_Gal. I sent you my multi-quoting tutorial so you can give it another try on my next segment. I’m glad you liked this episode. I had fun with it. The “what would DIS members be doing during each era” angle was another one of those “came out of nowhere ideas” that I couldn’t resist.
TwinkieMama. You are cracking me up! Yes, I definitely think you should get a part in Cirque with that performance. Maybe you need me as your agent.
They reused the molds from the Hall of Presidents? No I have never heard that. Fascinating! You must have learned that in a “Behinds the Scenes Tour?”
bunnysmum: Love it! Numbers 1 and 2 would work quite well for us. I’m still noodling over the other one trying to figure out where you might have needed that quote!
Philadisney. I’m glad you found my slant on Disney education humorous. Thanks so much for the comments.
Suzflee: I almost missed your post. It snuck in when I wasn't looking. I wonder if that car really WAS me, or rather a duplicate me slightly out of phase with time, due to some distortion of the space-time continuum. Scary thought!
The entire episode was already written and ready to go before the "100th Reader" posted and "won" the episode dedication. That's why there was no direct reference to celerystalker in the episode. Maybe I'll do it your way for the 200th Reader Dedication!
Yay! I was first to respond to the segment dedicated to me! I used the age old trick others have used - I posted a fake post, went and read the segment, then edited.
First.
I LOVE the caveman commercials. Especially the roast duck with mango salsa. I even love his slight lisp. And his friend who lost his appetite. It made me laugh out loud. Which normally would be ok, except right now I'm being babysat by my brother. Who doesn't know about my DIS addiction. So I told him it's a board where disney freaks sit and talk.
Thank you for the glimpse of the DIS through time. It was enlightening.
I love el rio de tempo. I'm kind of nervous to see what they do to it. The only part that needed changing was the beach scene. Those people came straight off Magnum PI.
Here's my bit of Mexican trivia: My ex husband's grandfather helped build the pyramid.
Kinda weird, eh?
I liked my recent trip to the real mexico - but it was only for one day and in a relatively less commercialized port (Costa Maya).
Great episode. Especially the part about me!!!!

What a great idea, Kay, dedicating a post to the 100th reader.
I really love SpaceShip Earth too. It's our first ride at my favorite park. I like everything about it, especially the air conditioning on a HOT day!
I've never thought about the fact that we move backwards to the future. I bet there's some DEEP meaning. Some symbolism.
I didn't know they were re-doing the El Rio deTiempo ride. Huh. I hope it's better. It's a smidge out-dated currently.
Ya did a great job again Kay!!!! I love your style!
I love your spirit and spunk!

Thanks for posting again before taking off on your vacation. I'm rooting for the Lucky Fourteen weather phenomenon!!!

Dag Nabbitt!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried the multi-quote button. It even lit up nicely in red, like it was actually working. I had high hopes.
But NADA, nothing!
I tried to quote a lot, about the bus ride and Spaceship Earth. I pride myself in being an Excel expert, but apparently, a DIS qouter expert I am NOT (by a long shot!) Apparently one program talent does not translate to another. And I read about 100 posts about how to multi-quote!
Loved, loved this installment, Kay, Bravo!!!!!

And they STILL haven't called me back (for Cirque de Soleil)...I mean, I thought I looked pretty good as I balanced on one foot with baby on hip, stroller jammed between the adjacent seats, keeping the twins glued to their seat using my super-mama not-quite-angry-but-I-mean-it eyes....
I have always liked Spaceship Earth too... you did know that to cut costs they re-used the molds from the hall of presidents to poplulate the history of time? I love trying to find the president even though I can only do the easy ones (who knew that Taft was Egyptian?)
Another great episode!

I submit for your approval, a few new phrases you might want to commit to memory for your next trip; handy to know in any language:
"This gentleman will pay for everything."
"Is it okay to bring my laptop into the sauna?"
"The children are sitting under the tree and learning physics."![]()

This whole segment was hilarious. Thanks for taking us on a magical tour through history, Kay!

ditto on the "liquid papyrus"![]()
another great post!
Kay - I thought I was following you yesterday but I don't think you live in VA. The car in front of me had a license plate with "Kay" and a bunch of 7's and 9's. Does that tell you that I've been spending too much time on these TR's?
I was surprised you didn't do more with "celerystalker"... I thought you would have somehow incorporated that into the travel back in time or gotten a craving for some crunchy greens![]()
