Thanks, It's one of the pictures I took with my cell phone
See PD, I'm not the only one that takes pictures with my cell phone!

Wow that sounds fun...I was just thinking no one goes caroling anymore!! I used do it every year with the girls scouts.
It was fun. Wore us all out though. We went around the neighborhood, went to a local church where they gave us hot chocolate & cookies. It was wonderful, because it was very cold. Then we walked around the neighborhood again then back to the community place. They had hot cider, soda, pizza, and snacks. The kids had a great time. We went with the girl scouts lots. They cancelled this year because of snow. They go to a nursing home & visit all the rooms.

Morning/Noon Everyone! ;)
Howdy, like your new look.

ello limeys... srry i havent been on lately
:goodvibes
TOT B!!!!

Ah Age, The Great Equalizer.:lmao:
:lmao:

Kim and I went for a drive yesterday to take pictures of the bonfires on the levee, and we stopped by one of my favorite spots in all of Louisiana. This placed is called Oak Alley Plantation. It sits just off the levee of t he Mississippi River, and is absolutely beautiful.
OakAlley.jpg

The house is located in Vacherie, LA. The house was built in 1839, but the trees in front (14 live oak trees evenly spaced on each side), are at least 100 years older than the house.

While we were snapping photos, we realized that someone was getting married there yesterday. A little after I took this photo, you could see a bride in her wedding gown getting her picture taken close to the main house.

Here are a few more photos from yesterday. Some turned out ok, others not so good.

Here's an old Church down in Lutcher, LA
Sat-Dec-22-07002.jpg

A nice shot of one of the big bonfires. They'll light it on Christmas Eve.
Sat-Dec-22-07006.jpg

Here's a really cool one. They built it to look like an RV. They go through all this pain staking work jus to light them up to guide Papa Noel down the river. Kinda kewl. :thumbsup2
Sat-Dec-22-07014.jpg

This one had a sign to go with it (didn't get the sign pic), but it explained about how one of the family that built it was fighting cancer, so they put the ribbon on it.
Sat-Dec-22-07009.jpg

Not sure if you'll be able to make these out or not, but this is the line of bonfires down the river, they are every few hundred yards. On the other side of the embankment is the Mississippi.
Sat-Dec-22-07004.jpg

Another shot of multiple bonfires. This one you can see them working on it.
Sat-Dec-22-07007.jpg

Here are a couple more pictures:

This one you can see just how big some of the bonfires are. They are finishing up work on this one:
Sat-Dec-22-07013.jpg

And here is a distant shot of the Sunshine Bridge across the River. We didn't go across this one. We went a little further down the river.
Sat-Dec-22-07016.jpg

Have to include this one. Just some barge traffic going up and down the river.
Sat-Dec-22-07031.jpg

We got a tone of pictures, but we had to call it an early night. There was a bad bad thunderstorm that rolled through, and dropped several inches of Rain on Baton Rouge, with 60+ mph winds, and tornado watches and warning.

PS: see how green everything still is? it's been rather warm lately. Up until the storm rolled through last night, it was up into the 70's

I love the pictures MrO.

I would love to see those bonfires one year. I think it must look really pretty all lit up.

That plantation house...it looks familiar. I wonder if it's been used in a movie. It sure looks like it.

Mr. O those pictures are awsome... Hey Kelly we can add that to our list of places to visit together.. Hey we can leave the kids behind for this trip ;)

Kim and I are going to the movies today. We're gonna go see National Treasure - Book of Secrets. Gotta go get some cash at the atm too, so I can get a big thing of popcorn .

:rotfl:
We're hitting the ATM today too. Christmas shopping for the nieces and nephews. 3 teenage girls + 3 teenage boys = 6 cards with cash. They're all at that quirky age where the music, books, toys and clothes they loved two months ago are downright offensive to them now. But they always love cash.

I better get with it. I'm planning to walk to church, and I need time to bundle up. It's in the 30's here in sunny CA.:sunny:

Speaking of :sunny:, where's RER? I was hoping to hear from him.

MrO, Those pictures were just darling! I'd really like to head down there someday and check the bonfires out. Also, I think I too have seen that house somewhere in a movie. Ocne more... Ah age, the great equalizer.... In osme old movie.:thumbsup2
