Wow! Not sure about the 2nd one, but for the first one you should've gotten the guys tag # and reported him. The dog deserves way better treatment than that. Poor guy! Glad you said something to him about it though!

Yeah, I thought the second one wasn't as bad as the first...I guess I was still in a mood from the first incident! And reading in the paper about the guy who was caught trying to neuter his own dog (no he was NOT a vet). Neighbors complained about a dog barking a lot, the cops came and he had (cover your eyes here, boys) tied a rubber band around his chihuahua's you-know-what's and God knows what he was about to do next...The cops took the dog away....oy...I normally have low blood pressure, but I can feel it rising....

Ok, y'all..I need to vent...you can tell me I'm a fool when I'm done, if you want...

I had two dog incidences today, both left me scratching my head...about the owners not the dogs..

Incident #1.. went into eyeglass place to pick up DS6's glasses...on the way in, DS8 says, "Mommy, there's a dog in that car." Yep, 97 degree heat, sun burning bright, windows rolled up, little doggie barking and jumping around..(I should interject here that I am known for being mouthy...If you toss a straw wrapper out of your window at Mickey D's, I'm gonna tell you that you dropped something..If you don't pick it up and look embarrassed, I'm gonna tell you that's awful...If I see you walking your dog around the very nice lake area in our neighborhood, and he does his business, and you don't pick it up....I'm gonna ask you why you didn't clean up after your dog....anyway..you get the picture.)

so back to incident #1....I go inside the eyeglass place and announce to the roomful of people who are waiting for an appointment, "does that white car out there with the dog inside belong to anyone in here?" A REALLY BIG guy at the counter said, "yeah, that's mine..." I proceeded to tell him that his dog was going to die, It's probably over a hundred degrees in there..("I left the sunroof open."..Idiot....the only window that lets the sun directly beat in on the poor critter...oy....) I explain that dogs don't cool off the same as humans, and it was definitely too hot in there, and if that dog wasn't out of that car in 10 minutes, I was calling the police...I also told him, why didn't he go sit in that car for awhile in the heat and see how he liked it. :furious: ....anyway, he remained calm, basically ignored my unsolicited advice, and thankfully was gone in just a little over 10 minutes...

Incident #2....I was in the produce section of Publix grocery store tonight and was shocked to see a little dog in a very large ladies purse in her shopping cart... (once again, big mouth.."shut up Linda, shut up Linda..I can't, I can't...") I said to the owner, " Wow..I didn't know that you could bring a dog into a grocery store!"(that was a lie...I KNOW that you can't bring a dog into a grocery store) and she said, "I don't know, maybe you should ask the manager!!" OK, she got me, I was floored..and wanted to tattle, but I didn't...I did tell the cashier at the front while I checked out, but I am sure that he didn't tell anyone else...

OK, I feel better, as I always do when I unburden to you all..

thanks.....

Well, as you can tell by the pictures I posted earlier. I love my dog and cats like they were real kids . If I can't take my Roxie wherever I'm going, then she stays home. I totally despise those people who leave their dogs in the car. How would they feel if they had to sit in a locked car and couldn't get out? I've actually seen police officers in big cities break a window in a car to save a dog, and the owner ticketed for animal cruelty.

Dunno what to say about the 2nd incident. I take Roxie with me when we can, but there are limits. The only store she get to go into is PetSmart :goodvibes She loves going there.

I have been reading this thread since day 1, but never had the nerve to post- I didn't think I was "green" enough. I only have about 50 lgmhpc, and my DH and DD15 will not "do" lime. Luckily, DD 10 is all for it, so look for the lime at POP 8/16-23. We'll have the window decorated and will have a strand of lgmhpc hanging on the door w/a marker to sign your name and hometown.
There will be other colored mhpc, mainly blue and gold- school colors, but my heart will always be lime.
Lime lovers unite!!!

:welcome: Keep the DD whose is 10...DITCH the others!

O.K. How am I going to have time to work on my TR and keep up on reading here? I actually had things to do today, and come home and there's like 20 pages to read. I think people were posting faster than I was reading.

So, I already have the post-WDW blues, and my kids are acting stinky, and I had to go in for a mammogram and teeth-cleaning today. As I said to my mother, it could be worse; it could have been a colonoscopy and a root canal. :rotfl:

Alright, I'm going to eat dinner, then back to my TR. I have a goal of covering one day of the trip each day that I'm writing. That looks like it would set some kind of record (hint, hint to everyone who got back before me and has not finished, or even started, their TR). Uhtimex, can I get an amen?

P.S.

Used tea bags help too, the tantrics from the tea helps take away the sting!
Mary, I think it's Tannic acid in the tea. Tantric is that Hindu thing where you focus on the number 9 while you are... Oh yeah, there are minors on this thread. Never mind.

I feel the same way.. I guess lucky for me (and my big mouth) the guy was a very calm, clueless idiot. He didn't think anything was wrong, but didn't get excited that I was telling him that he was...I would have called the cops, but I was sure that he would have been gone by the time they got there.. So I just read him the riot act...this time I lived..next time..I just have to learn to shut my mouth...

I have always loved that you could take your dog into PetSmart. And the woman's dog was probably cleaner than my dogs, but it was just kind of shockingly icky to see a dog mixed in with my veggies.... :rotfl: I can stomach a few dog hairs...but they gotta come from MY dogs!!
