I have to chatter lots more on here to get to 1124 posts. I live in MI you know. We will be down in FL and everyone will be doing the secret handshake and I will be looking at them like they are crazy. (Well maybe they are)
Trust me... I know it, and you WILL think that they are crazy... heck I feel nuts doing it!! :lmao:

The first time I ever saw it was with my dad too. I also used to watch Airplane but my dad never really cared for that one as much. I loved the old lady on the plane that could talk jive with the black men. I thought that was hilarious as the lady looked like she belonged in some high class country club not the ghetto :lmao:

OOOh I love this movie too. First time I watched it I was working for usair at lax and the gate change scene had me rolling on the floor because it was so oddly familiar and semi realistic.

Hi everyone, Well the news broke and my phone has basically rang off the hook with everyone wanting to know if the kid in the paper and on the news was Cody.

Fortunately he is quite removed from all the publicity which is good.

The new release of course was sensationalized (not sure if that was a word). Kind of made me feel like we was sooo pooor that our poor boy had to go out and play wis some rabbits cause we don't has notin else for him or that he will be a future ax murderer who is out behind the house chopping up bunnies for fun.

I was pretty mad when the health dept read me the release though. At least he is not named and I rest at night knowing that my child didn't get this horrible illness because he is an psychopath or from the neglect of his parents. News people I tell ya.

On the brighter side. I booked mnsshp for our trip on 9/22. I felt like we deserved a little special fun night after what we have endured this summer.

You sure do!!! Have fun! :grouphug:

 Hey y'all again..you guys are very hard to keep up with for a lazy one like me..My DS6 has some kind of virus, so we have been "busy" with that lately.. :crazy2: I gotta tell ya, once you break away for a couple of days and come back to see what you have to catch up on, it's kinda daunting...but y'all are so worth it!!!

Anyway, I can't post for long, just wanted to know how Cody is doing...can anyone fill me in? The last I knew he had Catscratch fever and had surgery to remove a lymph node, was recouperating at home...What's new with him??

Edited to add....I just posted this and read the post above mine where macrosswife quotes HMo2's last update...rabbit fever???? never heard of it, but am glad that the treatment has already begun..this has gone on far too long.

Hrh the short of it is that cat scratch didn't grow out of his lymph node and tularemia did (rabbit fever). Very rare but treatable with antibiotics which he is now on yet another antibiotic. He is starting to get some energy back and be more like a normal little boy.

Wait...I'm confused! (Not that THAT is new! )

How did Cody contract (is that the right word?) it versus what the news media is saying??
And the health department even blew it out of proportion a bit?!!

I haven't been indignant at the media in a while...I'm about due... :stir:

~Kimber

The verbage was basically about the first case in our county ever being reported and that said child had been playing with dead rabbits.

My boys did pick up some baby bunnies early in June (probably were still alive but froze stiff from fear). That incident was so long ago it is way outside of the incubation period. We think he either got it from a bug bite or from the wound he had on his leg could have gotten infected from the sand box or something if their was bacteria there. I think the health department really didn't want to have pandemonium of a case of unknown cause so it was easier to blame him by saying he was playing with dead rabbits. Kind of po'd about it though still.

Ok I am gonna get as comfy as possible in this heat and with the sore shoulders (arthritis for those who forget)

HUbby --John has been ill for a LONG time now. We have no idea what, why or where to turn now. He coughs and clears his throat constantly. We went to the local cough clinic (yes they do exsit) We went many times for over an hour each time. Took us an hour to drive there in wicked traffic to a downtown hosptial.
Doc finally agreed that he did not have breathing problem but maybe cough is from reflux. SO put him on 2 types of pills. One he takes twice daily and it costs $2.00 each outta our pocket. the other he takes two of 4 times daily. Luckily they are covered by our Provincial Drug plan (we make such little money and I take SOOO much meds that they cover most "usual" one) When these did make not much difference, lucky guy got to wear a tube up his nose down his gullet for 24 hours. It had a walkman sized pack that was strapped to his chest. Every time he coughed or burped or "TRIED" to eat there were buttons to press each for whatever he had done. POOR guy I couldn't drive him back to hosptial to have it removed due to the severe panic attacks I get even thinking about driving. Turned out he has gastric reflux -- but not normal kind. He keeps coughing up BILE oooh so gross eh? 2 options:these wickly expesive meds or surgury on his throat. Can't do that though cause he is teacher at local college and they can't say wheather or not he would be able to talk the same after.

Sounding good so far? Next comes the hard part to even think or talk about. Men might wanna cross your legs when you read this. 6 years ago he had to have surgery for Testicialur Tortion (i'm more than likely not spelling that right) Doc went in and STAPLED them to his ?? i don't even know what. Within 6 months we knew something wasn't right with all that dwells down south <wink> We went back and the stupid doc grabbed him and pushed and pulled till I saw tears in John's eyes. He then told him, nope everything is well .. you just have a low tolerance of pain. NOT this man burn the skin off the back of his hand and barely whined. Doc said take tylenol or ibruphen as often as needed and BUCK UP. Well lets just say that it is good thing we don't want anymore kids. Just not a chance of even TRYING. I let him go to bed before me so neither of us feel so bad.

Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. He went in for day surgery for scopes of BOTH ends to check out things since he has now begun to bleed from other place (get my drift?) That was non-conclusive. SO back to idiot doc who grabbed and suqeezed even HARDER this time -- John was black and blue within a few hours of returning home. On the 11th of August he is to have another round of day surgery to check his BLADDER -- just imagine how they are getting there OUCH.

Sigh, phew I think I am done for now. oh that and just waiting on results on a few tests performed on me last week too :sad1:
