And the first flake hasn't even fallen yet!!!:confused3 They've done the same thing a couple of other times, and it never snowed, or it started later than anticipated. I can't believe I'm saying this, but now it better snow!!

I hope our school does this tonight.. Its going to be a mess out there tomorrow. We live in a very very very hilly/mountiany area! I do not want to send my kids out with 60+mph winds and 10" of snow only to have them crash!

Closed here, too. I'm kinda glad they closed tonight. I can sleep in tomorrow without a phone call to wake me up!

If they have school in those kind of conditions, I am afraid that my son wouldn't go. I would be calling him off.:goodvibes

Is it mean of me to hope ya'll have lots of snow days so that we get out of school way earlier and my SWW/HP trip will be a little less crowded?

I grew up in the LV. That for sure means you will get nothing, not even the winds.
I can't believe they cancelled already!

We had a "snowday" last week. There was no snow on the ground but it was predicted to start in the late am. Snow began falling at 3:30. So we had a no snow snowday.

I'm not sure what your acronyms are. Is HP Hershey Park? Not sure on the SWW? In PA, most districts don't go back till the last week of August at the very earliest, all they way to the Tuesday after Memorial Day. That means, PA schools don't get out too early anyway (unlike many southern schools).

If you're going to Hershey park that early in the year, all I can say is, good luck. You may have beautiful weather, but then again, it may be too cold to really enjoy all they have to offer.

The school takes the kids down every year at the very end of May (high school students). 2 years ago my son was standing in the bathrooms standing under the hand dryers to try and warm up. No water rides were operating (naturally), but it was just too cold to be on a coaster too. Sometimes, early June can be similar, other times, it can be absolutely beautiful.

Been an odd winter here though, the Pocono's rarely had a good storm, but LV has as Phila. been getting hit extremly hard. Again tomorrow they are to het over ten inches while west of Stroudsburg we are to get 6=8 inches. Phila another 16 " or more.

Looking forward to a really great one, Helene I envy you all having the dig outs I remember as a kid here in the mountains.

Hope we don't lose power.:upsidedow

Last Inauguration day, it was "supposed" to snow. DD's school system did the automated thing saying they were not going to have school. It wasn't snowing the night before, as a matter of fact, we didnt have rain the next day.

Then this year, we had snow, no snow days built in-smart, but we might next year. Anyway, Students were all ready out on a Monday for Teacher staff day, then they were out for 2 more days. The night before the last day off, the school system took their time about saying if the kids were off. Snow was off the main roads , however slush had frozen over the night before.

Several other cities had called into news saying they weren't going to open becaus it was still dangerous especially the secondary and other roads that don't get plowed.

OUr school system finally made a decision quicker then they said they would, but i think part of it was to save face after all these other cities school leaders were actually on the news talking about it.

Yep, another LV resident whose school called off already. I was hoping for early dismissal tomorrow for them and off friday.

Our school NEVER calls off before 6 AM. They tell you, they will have the decision made by 6 AM. Many a time I've been on the website at 5:59 AM and it says "no school closings at this time" -- you refresh at 6:01 AM and school is now closed.

Of course, that's very rare we have a snow day anyway.

I'm hoping weather holds off tomorrow for us -- I just looked outside and saw snow. DD is leaving tomorrow for a choir trip to Nashville.

I'm in the Philly suburbs and there are already quite a few school closings for tomorrow. This winter has been unbelievable!

Yes our last storm was a good one! :thumbsup2 I'm hoping for another like that tomorrow!:rotfl: Watch for pics on Facebook!

We haven't had one snow day all winter! The weather people keep predicting these big storms and then everywhere around us gets some snow and we get skipped over.

Complete and utter GUESS: Star Wars Weekend (at DHS) and Harry Potter (at Universal Studios Florida).

Now, BASD and LV have me totally stumped!

LV is Lehigh Valley in PA. BASD is a school district I'm guessing ;)

Thanks, Helene! Um, do the Lehigh Valley residents realize that they're confusing people* on the DIS who recognize that acronym only as Las Vegas, and that they're simply going to have to change it? :rotfl2:

*"people" = me ;)
