Our RV was hit by another RV this morning!

Wow, what an incredible family! I just read your pre-trip report. Hope everything settles down for you all and that you are able to continue and enjoy your trip. Can't wait to see your photos!

I am pretty sure they have wheelchair accessable cabins. Each cabin sleeps 6, so you could get 2 cabins that are side by side. Don't know if that would work for you or not. Just a thought. There are also 2 cabins that are close to the marina that are kept for VIP's and other special circumstances. Hope this helps. Glad that no one was injured and you seen to be taking everything in stride.

Just to add, no pets in the cabins and yes there is a pet boarding place but its not at the Fort anymore and its very expensive.

This sounds like an insurance nightmare. Their insurance should handle the damage to your trailer and the trip insurance any payments that may be nonrefundable due to cancelling the trip.

But I don't think either will pay to upgrade you into something else like two cabins without some extra legal action.

good luck

Thank you CCintrigue.

Okay, update on some of the insurance disscussion. With have three companies in on the who covers what.....our RV insurance will cover things over the coverage limit of the other couple, and trip insurance.

Okay here is the low down on things. We have our shuttle van sitting in Orlando(we shipped it down to use at WDW) which might get shipped to us on Monday to get us and our little guy trailer down to WDW.

Now the debate between the insurances is where RV repair will take place.
Our RV may get shipped to a factory to be repaired. If so our insurance has offered pay to put us up till the repair is done.We do not think this will be on a Disney property since they did not say on Disney property.

Trip insurance will refund the cost of Fort campsites and all campground stays on rounte after accident to return home plus cancel fees before any discount. They stated they refund rack rate because discounts are often date sensative or for set groups.

What else will be covered is still being debated between them.

I only have a film camera with me so still have to get the pics developed(I will post some as soon as I get film developed). I do know from the insurance measurements that they will replace the back 11 feet of the RV and repair the next 3 feet on left side.On the right back 14.5 feet replace and 3.5 feet repair. We also will get a brand-new lift.

I would think they would pay for you to stay on Disney Property since that was your destination and you have confirmed reservations there. I could see them questioning Disney if you didn't already have reservations there. They wouldn't want to pay for you to have too much fun. LOL Hope all goes well and you will be able to continue to WDW.

That would most likely have to come about with some sort of extra legal against the people that hit the RV.

The RV insurance from either side pays to fix the RV's and maybe a hotel stay while you make arrangements to get home. And the trip insurance pays for a cancelled trip and a way to get home but neither may guarantee that you will get the trip you expected.

There is always hope.

Hi guys

Insurance companies are still debating with each other about who is covering what.

Our RV is going to factory for repair/rebuild.

We got trip insurance with a disability rider(because it is hard to find access with this many chairs)

We have insurance on the RV and got riders covering adaptive equipent on our RV.

The older couple has insurance(thankfully they had extra coverage for if they caused the accident due to a medical condition)

Monday we will find out where in FL we will stay.

Boy this is sure a terrible thing to have happen. How are the kids dealing with being stuck in a motel while all this is going on? I hope you get to Disney on this trip. I sure am glad that no one was hurt but it's definitely going to take some time to get your RV back to the way you had it. Please keep us updated, my thoughts are with you.

How much damage did the driver do to his own rig?

I hate to think of how seriously someone in your family could have been injured if you had been in your motorhome at the time of the crash.

Just thinking if we had let the kids sleep in how bad it would have been:scared1::sad1:

They also had damage to their RV.Theirs is a Toterhome and the had front end damage.Theirs can be repaired here.I worry more about how the other couple is doing. The husband is now in the nursing home as planned.I know this is a very hard time for them.

The kids are wanting out of the motel. Thankfully we have a kitchenette to use here so they get to eat what we brought with us.We got our food moved over to the fridge here.

I am not a hero I'm just a Mom.My Heros are the ones out fighting for our country.

WHAT ??? I cant believe its not a total WOW!! dang good thing no one was in it, SHHHEEEEEZZZZ

man I feel for you, eeesh! what a deal, Im speachless

Just about a foot more on each side would have listed it as totaled.Glad it was listed as rebuild/repair because buying a replacement one off shelf would a lot of work to fix it up to work for us.

Thankfully the cats were laying in their car seats near the front of the RV. We had not buckled them in yet for the drive. They love sleeping in the kids old car seats and DH worries about cats climbing on his lap while driving.

When I saw the damage was where the kids bunks were....................

If you don't get something worked out yourself someone sugested contacting Give Kids The World. They might be able to fill in some of the spaces to make this trip still happen for you and the kids. You are so close and worked so hard to make this happen this might save the dream.

This would have been the most upsetting part for me too.

I have one other suggestion. Do not sign a release from either insurance company until you make at least one trip in the mh. Even though I am sure they will try to test everything before turning it back over to you, nobody else know how things work and "feel" like you and your family.

Aren't Toterhomes those Super c's on a freightliner over the road tractor frame? Was he driving head on into the site behind you? Sound like the stars were in your favor. Except for the accident of course. Hope they can repair yours !

Toterhomes are those that look like a giant class C built on 18 wheeler.
I have know idea if he thought he could pull along side of us or just drove without looking at where he was driving. We know that his health effected his choice to drive and his skills while driving.

Our own insurance rep told us not to sign off that everything is okay with RV till we have tried everything on the road.He said that with all the documation and the inspections we did to get to get our RV road and insurance approved it is easier for them than most custom RVs.

As far as Give Kids the World I would not want to take resources away from wish families.I do have a boss whose office is in Orlando and she is willing to help us. Now our trip insurance did say they would help us get a place to stay so we could do WDW.Tomarrow I have to give them a list of places on Disney property that would work for us.DH and I did agree that since we were devided as far as ress at Fort between two sites we will devide into two rooms, he takes the boys and I take the girls.

I am still trying to figue out there rack rate compairable thing.I asked over on disabilites which WDW resorts had handicaped rooms that would fit our family.

Thank you all for your help and letting me vent here.:grouphug:
