Okay, we've reserved a preferred pet site for October and there's only one loop for this. We'll probably arrive late and I'm thinking we may get "upgraded" to a premium spot. From what I've read the premium sites are mainly for the big rigs.

Here's the thing-our camper is really, really old-a 1966 model. You can see her twin at Restaurantosaurus in Dinoland. Whenever we've stayed at other "Class A" type RV resorts some of the other campers looked at us like the Clampetts had just moved in next door, complete with Granny's old cabin.

The last time we were there Ft. Wilderness had tons of foliage (kudzu?) to screen our little eyesore from everyone. I see that most of that is gone so I'm guessing that our camper will be on display for all to see.

Are the premium sites filled with $250,000 motor homes or will there be other more, uhm, modest set-ups too?

Just curious,

Jennifer

You will be fine. There are everything from people sleeping in the back of their minivans in sleeping bags, tents and yes the high $ RV's. BTW we love vintage campers here, none of that calling the older campers ratty.

yeah i second that. my brother is bringing a 68/69 bluebird motorhome and i have a tt. we will both be on a premium site. so it is not all expensive new mh. vintage homes are awesome.

Thanks!

Dino the camper (and she was Dino waay before Animal Kingdom was around) has been parked in front since I booked. Hubby is trying to spruce the old girl up. I think she'll be okay although we probably should scrape off the Grateful Dead sticker ;)

Aah, but I don't know if it's the kind of character I want to advertise now that I'm all grown up and behaving myself.

Doctors' orders, sometimes I think it's their personal mission to suck a good portion of the fun out of our lives. We're from Louisiana and, between us, have almost 3/4 of a century of wine and song to pay for. These days a tiny steak and a glass of red wine is the very height of naughtiness. Maybe we'll keep our bears as a reminder of the most excellent times we had back in the day.

I'll admit it. I'm just the teensiest bit worried about being the trashy neighbors of Ft. Wilderness. It's a bit of relief to know that hubby's NASCAR themed ice chest will not be set out in front of Dino this time. I guess the doctor is good for something.

Actually there is 3 preferred loops 100, 200, and 300 which is the designated pet loop.

I think you will get more curiosity lookers than evil eye lookers.

Have a great trip!

Seriously, you have nothing to worry about. You are going to be having so much fun, you're not going to care if someone may or may not be "judging" your camper.

Actually,,I'm not the person who would judge,,but would likely ask you if you would show me your camper :thumbsup2 (while offering you a beer)

I am so friggn nosy,
my wife hates that.

I love our vintage motorhome and wouldn't trade it for a newer model. I think the older units have more character. The new ones all look the same. Kinda like the new cars. Just my opinion. I really wouldn't worry what other people think. If you like your motorhome, that's all that matters.:earsboy:

I had no idea there were so many old camper fans out there! I'm afraid I don't care much for character when it's time to use a bathroom. I want sleek and modern and a handle to flush the toilet with. I HATE the kitchen sink spray thingy we have to use to flush in Dino. No interest in what's in the toilet after I'm done.

And the beds-only the guys are strong enough to pull them out or put them away. They're heavy and it's just wood on wood-no smooth sliding modern techy pull outs for us.

I'd love a fancy RV with a flat screen but I'm kind of shallow that way.

Can't post pictures-zero computer skills. I'll ask hubby when he gets home.

Old camper/retro/restored/character,,what ever you wanna call it, is really cool and can be nice,,I know I really enjoy seeing them.
But I am with you on the, "theres something to be said for modern conveniences",,ie. flush toilets, easy slides, etc.

I'd still offer you a beer, dont matter what kinda camper (or tent) you have, :thumbsup2

Wow....you CANT be serious!!!! Love that old camper.....embrace its character....become the Clampet!!!! My camper is purposely eye-sore'd up to raise eyebrows....I dont party as much as my lil camper might make people think I do, and I kinda like the sigh of reliefe that comes from my neighbors once they talk to me for a few minutes!!! The fort is like the mothership of campgrounds...we all have to eventually gravitate towards it.....so your Granny Clampet Camper will fit in better THERE than at some of the other STUCK UP rv resorts. But dont ever disgrace your campers good history by removing a Greatful Dead sticker!!!! As a matter of fact...you should update it and add a new "Greatful Im NOT Dead" sticker right next to it...Jerry Garcia would get a smile out of that!!!

Me too! I love the other campers, posted on here, which are remodeled! Especially the funky yellow striped one. If only I could talk DH into that....he's a "buy new" guy though.
