Sunday, September 23

After a 24 hour drive from MA, we arrived at ASMO around 3:00pm. There was no line at check in, and the whole process took about 15 minutes. We got our first request of non-smoking, and the Toy Story buildings ( Woody, 3rd floor). We also booked the Fantasmic Dinner Package then, and got what we had wanted (Wed 5:30 Mama Melrose). Loved the resort! We thought the room was fine for the 5 of us, the theming was really fun, and we were close to the pool, food court, and bus stop.

After we were changed into our bathing suits, our plan of taking a quick dip in the pool fell through when it started down pouring and lightning. Instead we all got washed up and changed and headed to the Boardwalk (this was something new for all of us).

We took a bus to MGM, and then the boat to Boardwalk. Cameron loved the boat ride. We had dinner at ESPN. There was about a 20 minute wait there, but we were lucky (maybe unlucky) enough to catch the end of the Pats/Jets game while in line. We really enjoyed this restaurant. All of us were very happy with what we got, and it was a fun atmosphere. After dinner we did a little shopping, let the kids play some games outside, and then we saw what we could of Illuminations from over at Epcot. Colton wasn’t too happy with the fireworks, plus it was late, so we headed back. We took the boat to Epcot, then we realized we had to go through the park to catch a bus. We had no passes (Duh, I cant believe I didn’t think of that ahead of time). Luckily because it was after 9:00, the boat drivers told us to just walk in, we wouldn’t have a problem. They were right . We walked right in, no questions, and got to walk through the park. We hopped a bus to ASMO, got to our room, and slept like logs.

Tomorrow-Epcot

Sounds like a great beginning to a great trip!

I'm also from MA. Would you mind letting me know how the drive down was? (ie...milegae, rest stops, etc. ) Thanks!!!!

Sounds like a great first day!! Thanks for posting. Now onto the next day...

Arghaven, I always thought driving from MA was crazy, but.... desperate times...

Both ways, we made it in just under 24 hours. We only stopped for one full meal each trip(McDonalds/Burger King). We had eaten before we left, and brought crackers, cookies, etc... for the ride too. Other than that we only stopped for bathroom breaks & to get gas. I think it ended up being 1350 miles. It was fairly simple, but we did manage to get a little off track at a time. We were supposed to go around NYC, but ended up going through it. Since it was about 5:00am on a Sunday it didnt really matter because there was no traffic. You can get detailed directions from AAA.
While I would prefer to fly, if I felt driving was the best option for us, I would definitely do it again. It wasnt as bad as I expected at all.

wow! I couldn't imagine driving that long with the kids (which by the way I LOVE their names) how did they do with the drive? I hope you get another chance at the pool! off to read the rest of the reports................

The kids did pretty well with the ride. Of course, if Grandma wasnt with us, things may have been different. She really took a lot of the pressure of the kids off of DH & I. She actually wanted to sit in back with them.
The worst part was during the night, while trying to sleep, one kid would wake up at a time. It was like they took turns. Sleeping was close to impossible. I dont know how we were all so wired once we arrived. It must have been the excitement.
