Our O'Hare Experience

It wasn't too bad. We drove into Rosemont the night before and used the Radisson park and fly rate of $129. This included parking for our trip. Their shuttle van starts operating at 5:00am and they drop you off right at the airport. I'm not sure how late in the evening they operate.

Anyway - our van dropped us off and we used the curbside check-in (thankfully it was operating but who knows if that will continue). We tipped $8 for 4 bags and it was worth it not to have to stand in the lines at the Delta counter. It only took us 10 minutes at 7:00 in the morning to get through security - so we had plenty of time for breakfast before our 9:30am flight.

Coming home the shuttle picked us up again and drove us right to our car. It was a good experience. The offsite parking rates I saw were all in the $8.50 to $9 range. I'm not sure what the airport lots charge. Since we parked for 8 days - the hotel was a good deal.

Thanks so much for your report. We're flying out of O'Hare next Weds., and even though I know it will be more crowded because of the holiday, it was nice to have some idea of what to expect.
A suggestion as a cheaper alternative to park & fly: We booked a hotel room through Orbitz (Candlewood Suites for $33) and are parking at a place called Avistar for $6.95 a day (you have to go thru www.airportparkinglots.com to get that deal). Since we are only gone Thurs. thru Sun., it will be cheaper than the park and fly rate, and the lot is valet with a 24 hour shuttle. I'll post a report on how it works out when we return.
