Our online check-in at BWV went flawlessly, until we were told that although we requested a high floor and room close to an elevator, that we were assigned the 1st floor at the end of the building (yes I know it is only a request). I pleaded for a higher floor and they moved us to a 3rd floor room, still at the end of the building facing the front entrance. I was fine with that. DW is afraid of rooms on the 1st floor.

The room was fresh & clean and we settled in for the afternoon. That evening we got a call telling us about our checkout in the morning. What? We had booked for 6 nights but the front desk misread the online check-in form and had us checking out the next morning. We were told the only way to fix it was to come down in the morning and get new room keys. Next morning I went to the front desk to be told the room keys were sent up and were under our door. No, there were no keys there. They then cut me fresh ones. We hoped that was the last issue.

Well we were wrong. The 2nd day DW noticed water all over the bathroom floor. Then I took a jacuzzi bath to find out the jets on one side of the tub were malfunctioning. We called engineering. The next day while we were out someone came up. We knew this because the tub was full of water (we had left it empty) and towels were put on the bathroom floor. The jets still did not work and there was water still leaking on the floor from the sink. I called again. That night a maintenance person came up. They found the leak (a rusted hot water pipe) and proceeded to put a rubber seal and hose clamp around it. Had no idea how to fix the Jacuzzi and called in a 2nd maintenance person. Again, no idea how to repair the jets. They told us they would send a plumber up on the 3rd day. No they never showed. I called the Engineering Supervisor (Tom) and finally the next day the Engineering Manager (Stu) called me and said the valve was bad, they could not repair while we were there and they would move us to another room. I told them we did not want repack everything and unpack for two more days. He offered compensation of $200. I instead said I would rather have 12 fast passes (4 each for the three of us). He readily agreed. Later we received 9 fast passes under the door. Ticked off after agreeing to the 12 fast passes, I called the front desk Manager who had signed them. He said he had a limited monthly allotment and could not give us more but offered an additional $50. I was OK with that.

We also went to Clearwater Beach to take the family para sailing – the highlight of the trip. Also went to Wet & Wild – the low point of the trip – not well taken care of and incredibly crowded - it was not a Disney type crowd. A Beach Club life guard we met told us he used to work there and every day threw out people caught "fooling around" in the lazy river at W&W. My mouth fell open. I then laughed when he told me he had written a term paper about his adventures there and received an A!

The rest of the vacation was quiet and we checked out via magical express without a problem.

Looking forward to returning to our home resort at the Beach Club in Feb.

I'm so sorry for all the distractions. I hope you enjoyed your vacation regardless. We'll be at BWV in Oct. but luckily in a studio. No jacuzzi tub!:thumbsup2

Well, sorry about the problems. FYI, I absolutely love the first floor at the boardwalk. It is easy to get to bus, pool. No stairs or elevators to deal with.

Sounds like when you requested a change on check-in, they were fully booked for the night so they gave you a room that was offline for maintenance. (That happened to us a few years ago at a world-famous hotel and led to a similar misadventure.) This is a front desk mistake and it should not take place. The person who checked you in might have experienced a little "re-training" after you left.

Heck, anyone can go and have a flawless vacation :rotfl: Now look at all of the conversation you can have with folks about your adventures :rotfl2:

OP, wow, you really had alot to talk about on that vacation. How frustrating. We had a similar frustrating trip to BLT last spring, so I know how frustrating it can be, esp. day after day of trying to get things resolved. Just a note, whenever I have a reservation, whether a split reservation because of dining, or a linked reservation, I do make sure the CM checking me in knows that my check out is a certain day. Often I've checked in and the CM will say, that's for 1 night, and I tell them no, it's longer and then it gets fixed and they make sure there are any issues of having to relocate! Glad you got compensated while there. It's always better to deal with the problems when they happen, then to come home and try to deal with them. Hopefully you're next trip goes smoothly!

LOL! This reminds me of "Hello, my name is Peggy" commercial!:lmao:

THroughout all of this mahem, did you ever regret giving up your 1st room assignment! I also prefer upper floors but I've gotten 1st floor at BWV and you know, it wasn't bad at all!

Better luck on your next stay!

Sorry you had so many annoyances at my beloved BWV!! I sure hope it's an anomaly! I had a similar experience - only once in all my years - and that was with BCV....which was only a one time thing. Next time everyone had their act together!!

bummer about all the trouble with BWV! hopefully you just got your fill of bad vacation mojo and the rest of your trips will be perfecto! :)

btw, i went to ridgefield high school and my parents live in ridgefield. so, hi there kinda-sorta-neighbor!

The BW is my least favorite resort. We almost never can get a standard view but when you have to use extra points far a pool or garden view and all you get is a giant tree to try and look through. That said I still enjoy the BW. Sorry about your hassel.

That stinks but I'm glad it didn't ruin your trip!

I would have taken the cash though... :thumbsup2

Sorry for your inconvenience....but I gotta say, one of the reasons that I love Disney so much is that they are always willing to rectifiy the situation (whether it be monitarily, fast passes, etc.) I wish all companies held their customer satisfaction at such a high level :thumbsup2

Not in 97 degree heat. I thought about the money but frankly by then the stock market crashed and the $200 was meaningless compared to what we lost, and I just wanted to not spend too much time in the lines.

One thing I noticed about BWV was that the furniture seemed different. I looked in the nighttable and it had a label in it - saying Kimball Healthcare. Guess Disney got a deal on some refurbished furniture.

Same here! I always request an upper floor I am like op's dw~however, we have been on the first floor at BWV several times, and it is pretty convenient.

Actually no we did not regret giving up the 1st floor because our room had a direct line of sight view of the EPCOT fireworks, which the 1st floor rooms below us, being behind some bushes, would not have had. Huge balcony too. Just too darn hot!!!

Disney World in August is going to be hot and humid. September is usually worse. I try to avoid those months but usually I end up in FL somewhere during September in spite of my good intentions. I too would have taken the cash and had a lot of nice meals on Disney. But, I understand the fast passes too. Anything to get you through those hot and long lines!!

No jacuzzi might have been a show stopper for me. That's the highlight of my vacation since I have a teeny-tiny tub at home and greatly look forward to long soaks in the jacuzzi. That being said, $200 might have made it a little easier to bear.
