As we came back from the most freakish weather in Orlando during January a little dissapointed, we have thought about trying a different time of year. September 2011 was our first though but it seems like a long time away now (and I don't think I can wait that long for my fix! :rotfl:) and also from what a lot of you guys have said on here the weather is unbearable hot still, and I don't know if the kids would cope very well with this.

So I went back to the drawing board and thought about April 2011 instead. As well as having the kids in school we have to take into account the seasons at work as we have a card shop and there is always something that needs changing over, and whilst january is quiet in the shop, we are extremely busy changing over from Christmas to Valentines and Mother's Day, we have literally run ourselves ragged in the last month or so!

So anyway, Easter next year isn't until the 25th or something like that so we thought about going out around the end of March and doing our usual 21 nights.

What do you guys think about Early April etc? Weather wise and crowds? Is it a good time to go?

Opinions please.....

:goodvibesHiya :goodvibes

We are just back and feeling exactly the same as you. We had a wonderful time but there is no getting away from the fact that the weather was disappointing to say the least, especially when we went for longer this time to incorporate more pool days which were then no possible due to the weather.......

Se we, like you, are back to the drawing board for next year and are considering August :scared1:, are we mad?

Again, like you we run our own business and have to time things so that we are not away at the busiest time which for us is autumn/winter....

Hope you find the answer!

Crowds may be bad as it is probably Spring Break time. I've only been once when Spring Break was going and it was crazy busy. I assume end April/May wouldn't work with kids or shop but they are a nice time to go weather wise. Having just been in January I can understand why you are thinking of changing times!

We were there same time as you in Jan and I wasn't too bothered by the weather, I was happy there was not much rain. We have decided to go back Feb/March next year. We did go in May 2009 and found it too warm and it rained constantly.

I think early April weather wise is a perfect time to go, lovely and sunny with the occasional breeze, at least that's what it was like last Easter when we went.

If you are going for 3 weeks I wouldn't worry about crowds too much, plenty of time to do eveything.

I think it's a good time to go.

August we go this year, main reason is we have to go in school holidays, last year we struggled fitting in a 2 week holiday at Easter time, having been in August before I know it's going to be mega-hot, just have to get to the parks early and do them in short spells.

We're also planning on going end of March for 2 1/2 weeks. Spring break in the US/Canada will be in the first 2-3 weeks of March not at the end as Easter is really late so most colleges/uni's etc will be back in session after the 20th of March or the 27th at the latest so I think after that things should be a bit calmer.

We also toyed with November this year...we thought it might be cheaper but April appeals to us...plus no lovebugs at the beginning of April - we've yet to experience Orlando without a week's worth of those darned things!!

Have fun planning :)

If it is predominantly the weather you are after, April is great. That is my Disney season and it is beautiful. Not very humid (if at all), still dry season so maybe the occasional shower, but even so, not for long. It is also pretty warm (last year was actually quite hot the whole two and a half weeks we were there) so plenty opps for pools and water parks.

It is busy! It is really all we know crowd wise so I would imagine if you normally go Jan/Feb you will see a big difference. I haven't been off peak and can't give you a comparison. However, crowds come with much longer park hours, extra parades and shows, seasonal things are always open ..... which gives you a greater deal of flexbility with more usable hours across a 24 hour period. With a good touring plan, IMO, the benefits outweigh the challenges.

How old are your children?

May last year was unlike any other May we've been, the rain and storms were bonkers so don't let that put you off May, it's our 2nd favourite after September.

Not too sure about April as its Spring Break season, but I really don't like big crowds. We were there late March one year. At the start of the trip, the Tower of Terror ride was 10 minute wait, while by the end of it, it was 90 minutes!:scared1:

I avoid Easter and Spring Break. We went in Jan and Feb and had nice weather both times.

Its May this time around, so am expecting it to be warmer than usual...

Thanks I heard it was unusual for that time of year :)

May usually has a little rain say every third day and it's almost always been short lived and very welcome. A 3 week stay might see one full blown storm (ie, back to the hotel/villa or meal in a restaurant) and 2 smaller storms (ie queue for Soaring and it's over).

Otherwise nice and warm/hot right through to the evening

I agree with the poster that says check when spring break is last year for our first week it was so quiet in the parks but then it turned to springbreak and it was noticeably busier. That was March not April though. The weather in March has always been fab for us little rain and fab temps right through to the evening.

Pre-Easter April is going to be busy - although crowds tend to ease quite rapidly after Easter.
The resort seasons are a bit of a guide - this year the peak season runs from Feb 12 - Apr 10, so up to the week after Easter.
Also whilst the average weather is April is nice, the last two times we went we had quite a bit of rain, and variable temperatures (mid 90's to about 70 as a cold front came through with torrential rain).
