When I came home from work last night, this is what was in the field behind our house!! (sorry the pictures are so blurry.. I had to take them from inside the house or the dogs would have run out the door and scared them off)

We have seen as many as 4 before at once, but not 7!! There were two bucks, 2 females, and 3 babies. The babies were so cute running and playing with each other. They were acting like little puppies trying to "get" their parents.

They eat all the apples off our apple trees and not scared of us in anyway. We live in the city, not out in the country so we think it is pretty cool :thumbsup2

oh wow!
I've never seen babies near our house...just big females I believe.
one time - we were surrounded...3 in the back yard...1 in the side yard...2 in the front. heheh

we live in the boonies though!

Bambis!!!!

There are deer around my sister's house. I, however, live in a borough of New York City, where such graceful creatures are few and far between.

They were out there for over 2 hours! Just playing, eating and relieving themselves :earboy2:

My ds 10 says he wants to go out and see what deer poop looks like. If you can tell what they've been eating, etc.

We've dissected Owl pellets before.... gross and awesome at the same time, and he wants to do the same with the deer poop!

WOW! Great pictures. Lucky you to have that in your backyard. :)

That one buck is nice....dont let my husband see that :rotfl2:

Don't you just love them! :goodvibes

We feed them sunflower seeds - they love them! We noticed the deers looking up at the birdfeeders, so we started putting cupfuls on the lawn for them. I could look at them all day!

Cool!! we usually throw our apples over the fence for them, when we have apples. I'm gonna have to tell the kids they like sunflower seeds.

So you just throw them on the ground and they come and eat them? We love looking at them. Our friends/family just don't understand how we can sit and just watch them.

Yup, just put handfuls/cupfuls of seeds on the lawn. I tried giving them carrot peels last week, but they left them for the seeds. They also like to eat our pine trees!

A couple of weeks ago two of the babies were laying down relaxing, chewing, right on the snow! I was so happy they feel so comfortable near us. I don't know how anyone can shoot them. I think they know my yard is a "safe" place for them.

I actually turn off the lights in the house if I see them around dusk, I don't want to disturb their dinner time. DH thinks I'm crazy, tiptoeing around in the dark! :yay:

Too Cool! You got some great pics!

We live in the country so we're used to having 20 or so in our field but we're way out from town. I can't imagine them being so close into the city and not being afraid of you guys. You must have some pretty good apples!

Neat! Thx for posting. :)

This lil' fella came a-boundin' about the backyard a couple of afternoons last year:

He was havin' a lot of fun kickin' up his heels. Very much reminded me of the "Meadow" scene in Disney's Bambi.
