Day 6 continued: March 18, 2010
We left off walking out of the Contemporary and heading to the boat dock. We wanted to pay a visit over to one of our previous homes at the VWL. When we got to the boat dock, we realized we were one of the only ones out there! Haha. For those of you who dont know, the Contemporary/WL/FW boats have a blue flag:
While we waited, we talked about how this trip was going so well. We were having so much fun. Since there wasnt anyone else around to take a pic of us, we attempted to get a good shot ourselves:
I had to take a pic of the BLT walkway from where we were. It was crazy thinking we were way up there! Now you can see how open it is on both sides.:
Of course, we didnt have to wait too long for a boat to come. I think it was us and one other group on the whole boat. We all sat to one side because it was WINDY out there! I wish I had a pic of me because I had my hood up and my face buried into Fiancés arm. HAHA
We stopped at FW first and the other group with us got off. Once they got off, a bunch of people from FW got on, then we were on our way to WL. I love looking at WL from out on the lake. Its such a beautiful Resort. Plus, you can get a good view of the bear face in the main building. It was too windy to take pics so I apologize for the lack of pics from our boat ride!
Once we pulled up to the WL boat dock, I immediately felt back at home. I was reminded of our times staying here and all the memories weve made. I am so excited to be bringing the little guy here for dinner at WCC one night! I already told him about the whole ketchup thing, so we have been practicing our yelling KKKKKKEEEETTTTCCCCCHHHUUUPPPPP!!!!!! while were playing outside. Im sure the neighbors think were freaks. Haha.
As we made our way from the boat dock, we decided to head over to the Villas area first. But not without a stop at the geyser!
We were surprised to actually see people swimming! It was so cold that day! I guess it might not have been too bad just sitting there in the sun. And you can actually see the bear face in thess pics. You have to use your imagination to see it. The two smaller triangle windows are the eyes, the triangle window in the middle is the nose and so on
We had never noticed the bear face before until a few years ago. We went on a Wishes cruise and had the best driver. He was so nice and while he gave us a tour around Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon before Wishes, he told us about the bear face. Of course, he really caught Fiancés attention when he started talking about the alligators hes seen! Haha
Okay
back to WL
we made our way over the cute little bridge and by the pool bar, which is where we had to go left to head to the Villas
Im telling you, I could do this walk in my sleep. HAHA. I just love walking around WL because like everywhere else in WDW, they keep up with the themes in even the littlest things like the walkways filled with critter footprints:
After you make it past the pool bar and past the little beach, you come to a fork in the path
go left and you go to the bike/boat rentals; go right and you go to the Villas and the bus stops.
Obviously we went right.
And here is where we were reminded of a hilarious memory. We were walking from our room towards the boat dock. We got to this area and came across an armadillo! It hadnt noticed us yet, so Fiancé and Sis tried to sneak up closer to it. Once it realized we were there, it freaked out and tried to run away. Well, it didnt get very far because as it was running, it ran straight into the rock from the fork in the path pic! We all busted up laughing. Of course, I did feel bad for the thing, but it was so funny at the same time.
Okay
back to the Villas
as we were talking about the armadillo, we made our way to the Villas pool:
We fell in love with this pool. It was always a nice place for us to relax. The water was always just the right temperature and it was hardly ever busy.
As we got closer to the Villas building, I had to take a pic of our balcony. I call it our balcony because we ended up staying in this room two years in a row! It is the top balcony in this pic:
And heres a look to the left before we went into the Villas lobby:
Fiancé had to get creative again
:
As the door slid open, I immediately was welcomed with that smell that I associate with the Villas. It felt good to be back there. Just as you walk in, there is a hallway to your left. We stayed down it on our very first time as DVC members:
Doesnt it look like it just goes on forever?! Haha
For those of you who have not visited the Villas lobby, please do. It is such a relaxing place. Even though weve been around the place 1,000 times, Fiancé and I wanted to take our time taking everything in. Besides the main area, there is a room off to the side with chairs, fireplaces, and games. I cant tell you how many late nights Fiancé and I would come play some checkers after a late night swim.
The main area:
The chandelier in the main area is so neat:
Youll notice throughout the Villas area that there are a lot of references to Walt Disneys love for trains. Theres even this painting that somebody did of Walt:
Of course, Fiancé had to take a pic of me checking out all the pics:
I look so serious! I guess I was trying to take it all in so I could remember being in that moment when we got back home. Once we were done there, we decided to head over to the main WL building. We love this walkway when its all lit up at night
We walked past the Mickey DVC sign and up the llllllllong ramp into the lobby. First thing we had to do- take a pic by the totem pole:
We take a pic here every year and put it in our WL totem pole pic frame. Its even more special to me now because Kristen and I always send each other pics of it when were there and say Were standing in the exact same spot. Now, well actually get to take a pic there TOGETHER hopefully.
After we got took the pic, we walked around the gift shop. Of course, I mainly just sat in the rocking chair by the fireplace in there while Fiancé walked around. Haha. Then, we decided to find a comfy couch in the lobby and sit so I could catch up on my TR notes. But first, I had to take a pic of something very dear to MeMom and Jill!:
