~Our March 'Just Engaged',freezing,and full of surprises trip~Updated 6/23 p.76

haha, that is so funny you guys "broke" into BLT! When we were there last August and went to check it out we kind of did that too. :rotfl: My dad just told them though that we were DVC members and wante to check it out. But we totally cheated and went out to the pool area even though you needed a key to get back in (I just held the door for my sister...:rolleyes1). OK sorry for that random bit...

Sad this TR is nearly over but your next trip is coming up soon!!! :dance3:

Haha, okay I'm glad we're not the only ones who "broke" in!

Day 6 continued: March 18, 2010

We left off walking out of the Contemporary and heading to the boat dock. We wanted to pay a visit over to one of our previous “homes” at the VWL. When we got to the boat dock, we realized we were one of the only ones out there! Haha. For those of you who don’t know, the Contemporary/WL/FW boats have a blue flag:

569.jpg

While we waited, we talked about how this trip was going so well. We were having so much fun. Since there wasn’t anyone else around to take a pic of us, we attempted to get a good shot ourselves:

570.jpg

I had to take a pic of the BLT walkway from where we were. It was crazy thinking we were way up there! Now you can see how open it is on both sides.:

571.jpg

Of course, we didn’t have to wait too long for a boat to come. I think it was us and one other group on the whole boat. We all sat to one side because it was WINDY out there! I wish I had a pic of me because I had my hood up and my face buried into Fiancé’s arm. HAHA

We stopped at FW first and the other group with us got off. Once they got off, a bunch of people from FW got on, then we were on our way to WL. I love looking at WL from out on the lake. It’s such a beautiful Resort. Plus, you can get a good view of the ‘bear face’ in the main building. It was too windy to take pics so I apologize for the lack of pics from our boat ride!

Once we pulled up to the WL boat dock, I immediately felt back at “home”. I was reminded of our times staying here and all the memories we’ve made. I am so excited to be bringing the little guy here for dinner at WCC one night! I already told him about the whole ketchup thing, so we have been practicing our yelling ‘KKKKKKEEEETTTTCCCCCHHHUUUPPPPP!!!!!!’ while we’re playing outside. I’m sure the neighbors think we’re freaks. Haha.

As we made our way from the boat dock, we decided to head over to the Villas area first. But not without a stop at the geyser!

572.jpg

We were surprised to actually see people swimming! It was so cold that day! I guess it might not have been too bad just sitting there in the sun. And you can actually see the ‘bear face’ in thess pics. You have to use your imagination to see it. The two smaller triangle windows are the eyes, the triangle window in the middle is the nose and so on…

573.jpg

575.jpg

We had never noticed the ‘bear face’ before until a few years ago. We went on a Wishes cruise and had the best driver. He was so nice and while he gave us a tour around Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon before Wishes, he told us about the ‘bear face’. Of course, he really caught Fiancé’s attention when he started talking about the alligators he’s seen! Haha

Okay…back to WL…we made our way over the cute little bridge and by the pool bar, which is where we had to go left to head to the Villas…

576.jpg

I’m telling you, I could do this walk in my sleep. HAHA. I just love walking around WL because like everywhere else in WDW, they keep up with the themes in even the littlest things like the walkways filled with critter footprints:

577.jpg

After you make it past the pool bar and past the little beach, you come to a fork in the path…go left and you go to the bike/boat rentals; go right and you go to the Villas and the bus stops.

579.jpg

Obviously we went right.

580.jpg

And here is where we were reminded of a hilarious memory. We were walking from our room towards the boat dock. We got to this area and came across an armadillo! It hadn’t noticed us yet, so Fiancé and Sis tried to sneak up closer to it. Once it realized we were there, it freaked out and tried to run away. Well, it didn’t get very far because as it was running, it ran straight into the rock from the fork in the path pic! We all busted up laughing. Of course, I did feel bad for the thing, but it was so funny at the same time.

Okay…back to the Villas…as we were talking about the armadillo, we made our way to the Villas pool:

581.jpg

We fell in love with this pool. It was always a nice place for us to relax. The water was always just the right temperature and it was hardly ever busy.

As we got closer to the Villas building, I had to take a pic of our balcony. I call it ‘our’ balcony because we ended up staying in this room two years in a row! It is the top balcony in this pic:

582.jpg

And here’s a look to the left before we went into the Villas lobby:

583.jpg

Fiancé had to get creative again…:

584.jpg

As the door slid open, I immediately was welcomed with that “smell” that I associate with the Villas. It felt good to be back there. Just as you walk in, there is a hallway to your left. We stayed down it on our very first time as DVC members:

585.jpg

Doesn’t it look like it just goes on forever?! Haha

For those of you who have not visited the Villas lobby, please do. It is such a relaxing place. Even though we’ve been around the place 1,000 times, Fiancé and I wanted to take our time taking everything in. Besides the main area, there is a room off to the side with chairs, fireplaces, and games. I can’t tell you how many late nights Fiancé and I would come play some checkers after a late night swim.

The main area:

587.jpg

The chandelier in the main area is so neat:

586.jpg

You’ll notice throughout the Villas area that there are a lot of references to Walt Disney’s love for trains. There’s even this painting that somebody did of Walt:

588.jpg

Of course, Fiancé had to take a pic of me checking out all the pics:

589.jpg

I look so serious! I guess I was trying to take it all in so I could remember being in that moment when we got back home. Once we were done there, we decided to head over to the main WL building. We love this walkway when it’s all lit up at night…

590.jpg

591.jpg

We walked past the Mickey DVC sign and up the llllllllong ramp into the lobby. First thing we had to do- take a pic by the totem pole:

593.jpg

We take a pic here every year and put it in our WL totem pole pic frame. It’s even more special to me now because Kristen and I always send each other pics of it when we’re there and say “We’re standing in the exact same spot.” Now, we’ll actually get to take a pic there TOGETHER hopefully.

After we got took the pic, we walked around the gift shop. Of course, I mainly just sat in the rocking chair by the fireplace in there while Fiancé walked around. Haha. Then, we decided to find a comfy couch in the lobby and sit so I could catch up on my TR notes. But first, I had to take a pic of something very dear to MeMom and Jill!:

594.jpg

**Continued in next post**

**Continued from previous**

I just love everything in the WL lobby. It is so amazing. Of course, now all I can think of is the Jon & Kate Plus 8 episode when they stayed at WL and they’re standing in the lobby over by the front doors waiting to go over to their breakfast at Chef Mickey’s. All Maddy does is whine about how itchy her Mickey Ears hat is. Haha.

595.jpg

Here’s the amazing fireplace. There’s also a Hidden Mickey somewhere on it. But I’ll keep where it is exactly a secret! I can tell you a random fact that I have read about the fireplace though…all the different colors are supposed to represent the different layers of rock/Earth:

597.jpg

Found a comfy couch in front of the check-in area. Sorry the pic is blurry!:

598.jpg

While I was writing, Fiancé was busy taking pics:

Looking up:

599.jpg

Straight across from our couch. We had a great view of WCC. Of course, there wasn’t very many people eating there since it was an odd time of the day:

600.jpg

After I was all caught up on notes, we decided to head out to the water fall:

601.jpg

I think it’s so cool how the water starts inside the lobby and winds its way out.

602.jpg

603.jpg

It was SO cold out there, so we didn’t stay there long. Of course, Fiancé had to take a pic of me to prove how cold we were:

605.jpg

We headed back inside and went to Roaring Fork to get a snack. They had oatmeal raisin cookies that were looking really yummy, so we decided to each get one of those and eat them as we walked to the bus stop. Before leaving the lobby, I got one last good look at WCC and said “See you in July!”

And for the rest of the TR…you’ll see that I started getting the last day blues real bad. I spent more time trying to take everything in than take pics. So I apologize for the lack of pics from here on out.

Once we got to the bus stop, we sat on a bench and waited for a MK bus to come. While sitting there, we talked about the time we were waiting for the MK bus one night because we were going to evening EMH and Wishes started going off. Everyone ran out to the little island of grass across from the bus stops and we could see some of the very high fireworks every once in awhile. It was awesome getting to the park just as the Wishes crowd was leaving.

A MK bus quickly came and we headed back to enjoy the park for once last time. I was sad. As the ‘Welcome to the MK’ spiel started coming on over the bus, I looked at Fiancé and gave him the puppy dog look. As we got off, I started walking slower…and had a sad look on my face the rest of the night. Yeah, I’m a depressing person our last night. Haha. Once at the MK, we made our way over to Adventureland and got FP’s for the Jungle Cruise with a return time of 6:40 - 7:40. We really were hoping there were still FP’s left because the JC line is just so HOT! With those in hand, we decided to ride PoTC one last time since the wait was only 35 minutes. Again, we went to the left side, which seemed to go faster but maybe it’s just our imaginations. I am really anxious to see what the little guy thinks of this ride. I told him about the ride the other day and he said to me “The pirates nice?” haha As we left the gift shop, I said “See you in July!” Boo. I hate our last time riding things.

~Up next:

The rest of our night…and eating somewhere new for dinner!

Awww girl just 36 more daysssssss and we can take LOADS of pictures together, including one at WL totem pole :) We're seriously counting down the seconds until we get to meet :goodvibes

WL is definitely on our list of places to stay. Chris really wants to stay there at Christmas time ever since we went to visit last December. I hope you tell me lots of your stories of memories you have from WDW when you were a kid...I'm excited to hear them! :cutie:

Boooooo, I hate the last night soooo much...you want to enjoy it all and take it all in but all you can think about it the fact that you have to leave the next day :sad2:

I walked this with you as I scrolled through the pictures. Our rooms were on the bottom right - in the middle. You walked right past them.

Every resort has its own smell, its own feel, its own sounds. I love to see pictures of places I have walked and be able to easily picture myself there.

Both WL and VWL have so many nice sitting areas in the lobbies.

Yes, that fountain is very dear to me. It is responsible for several sweet DIS babies. :goodvibes

I have not had one of those, but they sound good. I might have to have one this summer...in just a few short weeks!

I say goodbye to everything, too. ;)

Thank you so much for the walk around Wilderness Lodge this evening!

Awww, I love all the WL pictures!! I really have to make it there one day!

tinkgurl I loved your walk through Wilderness Lodge! I really want to stay there when they have the Christmas decorations up someday :cloud9:

I loved the Disney episode of J&K+8. Mady's comments about the hat were too funny

aww the poor armadillo :rotfl: That's weird, I wonder how he ended up at WL, haha.

We were all the way at the end of a LONG hallway in VWL just last week! It was an eerie walk at night... especially the night I was by myself walking back to the room! Your pics make me want to be back there right now! Maybe I'll finish dealing with my pictures so I can get the first real update up in my new TR!

I LOVE the Wilderness Lodge! Isn't it the best?! The look, the smell, everything about it is so homey!

LOL...love that pic of you two taking of pic of yourselves! Really cute! it's ok about the lack of pics from the boat ride..just makes me excited to actually take that boat ride next time! an armadillo?!?! that's crazy! Love that pic of you two in the doorway! Super cool! awww can't wait to see the pic of you and kristen next to the totem pole together! yes...i agree with kristen! you folks are almost there! Anyway, great update as always. can't wait to see the next update!

Great WL pics! We went over there to explore once when we were staying at the CR for our 1 year anniversary. It's very cool and I also always picture Mady having her meltdown about the Mickey ears :rotfl2:

Oh, and it's a good thing you're tiny with all those booty shots your fiance takes!! :rotfl: My hind end is so huge that's all you'd see in the picture! :rotfl:

thanks so much for all the WL pics! i just love that place.

we are pretty sure we're gonna make our first trip back after seth's arrival in october 2011. originally we were planning on december 2011 but my cousins may go then and i really want this trip to be just me, ray and seth, so i don't want the chance of going when they go. anyway, we were def gonna stay at VWL for that december trip but now i'm on the fence between that and BWV for the october trip. what do you think? have you ever stayed at BWV? here's my list of pros for each (there aren't really any cons!):

VWL: we LOVE this place! it's more of a resort you can explore and enjoy downtime in compared to BWV.

BWV: great theming, love the look of the boardwalk and a HUGE advantage is it's walking distance to epcot during the food and wine festival.

i can't decide!!!

I love that you had all these stories/memories (that you shared with us!) about everything at Wilderness Lodge. Great installment!!! Sad that you were feeling the end of Disney trip blues!

The WL totally won us over :goodvibes We just love it! So glad you gave us a little tour of the DVC Villas!! I am taking a tour of them in December when we go back---can't wait! I love Roaring Forks cupcakes and cookies :lovestruc

I LOVE your WL pictures! The Polynesian will always be my favorite resort, but the Wilderness Lodge is a close second. We've stayed their the past two trips, and I'm probably going to miss it a bit in July. At least I have dinner scheduled at WCC so I can go visit. And spend some quality time in a rocking chair in the lobby. :cloud9:

And I totally remember that Jon&Kate+8 moment. Mady is quite the little whiner. :rotfl:

I cannot wait!!!! We are not going to be able to control ourselves the week before!

WL is so nice isn't it?! I think me you Chris and Fiance should take a Christmas trip sometime when we have $$!

I walked this with you as I scrolled through the pictures. Our rooms were on the bottom right - in the middle. You walked right past them.

Thank you so much for the walk around Wilderness Lodge this evening!

That's so cool we walked past your rooms! I'm glad you could enjoy our stroll around WL. I felt like you taking Resort pics of our walk!

You'll have to try one of the cookies! It was good!

Awww, I love all the WL pictures!! I really have to make it there one day!

Thanks! You have to check it out there!

tinkgurl I loved your walk through Wilderness Lodge! I really want to stay there when they have the Christmas decorations up someday :cloud9:

aww the poor armadillo :rotfl: That's weird, I wonder how he ended up at WL, haha.

Thanks! I know, it would be amazing during Christmas!

Haha, glad I'm not the only who watched the Jon & Kate Plus 8 Disney episode!

We were wondering how the armadillo got there too!

We were all the way at the end of a LONG hallway in VWL just last week! It was an eerie walk at night... especially the night I was by myself walking back to the room! Just last week?! I'm jealous! I bet it was freaky walking alone!

Let me know when you start your TR!

Wilderness Lodge does look really nice. Too bad your trip is almost over.:sad1:

WL is beautiful! I know, it went by way too fast.

I LOVE the Wilderness Lodge! Isn't it the best?! The look, the smell, everything about it is so homey!

Haha, thanks girl.

The Resort boats are so nice. It's especially nice at night when the views are so pretty with everything lit up.

Glad you're here reading. :)

Great WL pics! We went over there to explore once when we were staying at the CR for our 1 year anniversary. It's very cool and I also always picture Mady having her meltdown about the Mickey ears :rotfl2:

Haha, glad I'm not the only one who is reminded of Mady!

:rotfl: I'll take that as a compliment. I don't like being so little all the time though! I don't look my age!

thanks so much for all the WL pics! i just love that place.

we are pretty sure we're gonna make our first trip back after seth's arrival in october 2011. originally we were planning on december 2011 but my cousins may go then and i really want this trip to be just me, ray and seth, so i don't want the chance of going when they go. anyway, we were def gonna stay at VWL for that december trip but now i'm on the fence between that and BWV for the october trip. what do you think? have you ever stayed at BWV? here's my list of pros for each (there aren't really any cons!):

You're welcome for the pics Dawn. Yeah, I understand wanting to go just you and Ray and Seth. Especially since it will be his first time.

Hm..I haven't stayed at BWV, but I will give you my opinions. I love love love VWL. You know we loved staying that close to the MK which is our favorite park. It's such a relaxing place to stay.

If you're planning on hanging out at the Boardwalk and Epcot a lot, then I'd go with BWV.

I love that you had all these stories/memories (that you shared with us!) about everything at Wilderness Lodge. Great installment!!! Sad that you were feeling the end of Disney trip blues!

Aw, I love sharing the stories/memories with you all! Thanks for reading them!

Thanks! Yeah...it is a tough competition between Resorts you love!

Good idea getting a WCC ADR so you can go visit!

Mady is still a whiner as I saw on the new Kate Plus 8 premiere last Monday!

Your pictures of the Wilderness Lodge are fantastic and have made me want to stay there even more!

I hate the last day...it's always so depressing, but luckily your next trip is approaching really fast!

Looking forward to your next update!
