Our Magical WDW Adventure ~ 23 Days of Fun, Food, Cocktails... London Trip 2/8

oooo Mexico, veryyyy nice! I was in Cozumel Mexico a few years back on a cruise and it was sooo beautiful!

I would love to do a cruise around the Caribbean and South America to check out all the beautiful places there are. Then I can kind of narrow down where I would most like to go back and visit. Did you stay in Cozumel for long?

I always thought of a cruise as research for a longer vacation. My sister has been to Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, and Puerto Vallarta. She and DBIL have always enjoyed their visits there. I would like to go to see the ruins as well.

Yes my thoughts exactly. Gives you an idea of where is really nice and where maybe to avoid. Hopefully we will do a Disney Cruise one day soon :goodvibes

Oh and how was school hun?

Haha, want to hear my crazy freakin' day?! Okay I went to my Rural Soc. class at 2..we were in there for about an hour and the head of the Soc. department comes in and says that because there aren't enough people in the class, then the class is being cancelled! We all were like.. :scared1: Especially us who are seniors because we need so many credits to graduate. :faint: But, luckily I don't graduate until after the fall semester so I can still make some credits up. So.....I go back to the apartment and start looking at the college book to figure out all my credits and stuff and I figured out that I am still considered a full time student with only 12 credits which I need to be a full time student for my insurance company. And all the other soc. classes that I could take are all during times of my other classes. So I called mom and she just said to stick with taking the classes I'm in right now and get 12 credits. Whew, I have a headache! :headache:

Wow, I can see why it gave you a headache. Your school system does seem to be quite different from ours, we never really had options of classes like that. You did a subject and then would have different classes on different things within that subject, but you have little choices and we don't do credits. Strange how everything seems so similar on the surface but is really quite different. I am glad you got it sorted though :thumbsup2

No we were only there for a day but I've been to alot of places over 2 different cruises. I've visited more islands than states! lol Cozumel I feel would not be as nice as Cancun and Cabo I think they're more vacation spots.

Isn't Cabo where everyone goes on Spring Break?

I do notice on these boards that there are subtle differences in our languages, as well as other things like food and school systems which I still am so confused about. And the fact one of your states is probably bigger than our whole country :lmao:

yesss it sure is but i've never been there :guilty:

I'm sure I have seen them go there on The Hill's, it did look quite nice, but very loud in Spring Break. Then again I bet most places are. Have you ever been away for Spring Break?

There are subtle differences in many things between our countries. I never really knew about any of them until talking to you on here! So in college, you didn't get to pick your classes? Hmmm I never knew that.

Yea I saw that on the Hills too! haha It is loud during SB I'm sure. I've never been away for SB I always have to work!! :sad2:

I am guessing by college you mean our equivalent to university, where you go at 18? No we go to primary school ages 4/5-11 which is years (grades) 1 to 6. Then on to secondary school from 11-16, years 7-11. In year 9 you get to chose options of certain subjects to do, but have to do the basics like maths, english, science. After secondary school you can currently leave education altogether if you want or go on to further education which is Sixth form (attached to secondary schools), or college. Here you do A-levels for 2 years and you pick whatever 3/4 subjects you want and get credits according to your grades to get in to uni. Then at 18 you go to uni for 3 years (although medicine and education is 4 years). You do a degree in a certain area and in the second and third years you sometimes get an option to pick certain different modules to study, like in sport you can choose what sports you want to do. But generally you have so many modules you have to do. To complete the degree you have to pass all modules and normally do a dissertation, a 10,000 word thesis type thing on anything you want. Then you get your degree. I know you didn't ask, but thought I would fill you in :confused3

Where will we be going tomorrow for Destination Number Three... I will give you a little clue

No, thank you, I'm glad you filled me in because I was totally clueless about it! Thats veryyy different from here...here you go to nursery school or pre-k when you're 3-4 then at 5 you go to kindergarten. then elementary school is grades 1-5 which are ages 6-10. Middle school is grades 6-8 and age 11-13 and then high school starts at age 14 grades 9-12 where you graduate either at 17 or 18 dependiing on when you bday is, mine's in august so I was 17 because school ends in june. then you can stop going to school if you choose but you can continue and go onto college which for an associates degree is 2 yrs, bachelors degree is 4 years (which is what I have right now but I am a dork and did it in 3 yrs) then you could go on to get your masters and then your ph.d. in college you pick a major (and most of the time a minor too) and you have to complete a certain # of credits in your major and minor. then you also have to complete another certain amount of credits in general classes like math, english, etc. usually to graduate a 2 yr school its about 60 credits and a 4 yr school would be 120 credits. (give or take a few depending on the program youre in) i know you didn't ask either but its fun to compare  did you go to university?

Thanks too :thumbsup2. We do the same after uni, the 3 year degree is an undergraduate bachelors degree, and once you have done that you can go on to do post grad. like Masters (MA), Phd's etc. But you don't have to do any other general classes, only ones relevant to your course, which was pretty good for me. And yes I went to university :goodvibes

Ooo your doing your masters, very nice. Sounds like good subjects. We don't even have social studies over here until at least college level, what exactly is it all about? I did my degree in Dance :goodvibes

social studies is history, over here anyway. DANCE!? I danced competitively since I was like 4 until I graduated high school!! What kind of dance is your degree in, like world dancing or ballroom dancing or something? I did like tap and jazz and that kind of stuff.

The degree was both theory and practical, probably slightly more theory though. For practical it was mainly contemporary, which we did all 3 years, the the 2nd year we did jazz too and in the first year we did jazz and ballet. We did seminars and workshops on other styles like Latin, different contemporary techniques and things too.
