Our Magical Trip of a Million Dreams, Wishes & Surprises~Engaged at Disney(6/26 p30)

Hi everyone!! I promise I have not neglected my TR and I promise to get the next installment up hopefully by tomorrow!!

I wanna give an update on some wedding news. It looks as though DF and I have set a date: June 19, 2009. That date is special to us because it is the day we started dating and got engaged. We thought it would be cool to have our wedding on that day too!

DF and I also sat down and weighed down the pros and cons of having a Disney Wedding, unfortunetly the cons weighed out the pros. We live too far away and it would be hard to get our families to come down, and we obviously want to share our special day with them. We figured we can still have a Fairy Tale style wedding here at home and we have started contacting venues for our reception. :woohoo: Of course in true planning fashion, I have already set up a planning binder for our wedding. Anyone ever see the episode of Friends where Monica breaks out the Wedding Planning book, well is kind of like that except it is blank at the moment. :rotfl2:

But do not think Disney won't be part of our wedding celebration! We will definitley be having the ultimate Disneymoon and I cannot wait to sport those bridal ears!! :cutie: We even talked about one day doing a vow renewal at Disney.

I just wanted to share the news with everyone and let you guys know that the next chapter is coming up as soon as I can finish it!!

Thanks for reading everyone!! :grouphug:

Great News!!! What a great way to keep the dates Straight!!!!

I didn't think I'd have to be confrontational here but I have a story in which I broke "your" rule #1. On our honeymoon we went to BB's lazy river. There was a family just standing there and standing there waiting for rafts. We just blew right by them and they all gave us the dirtiest looks and said, "Hey!" But we didn't take any rafts. We just went with the flow of the river until we saw rafts up further ahead. I thought it was no big deal. I would never have taken a raft right there but I was not going to stand there forever waiting for a raft either. Just floating in the lazy river is nice!

Okay confrontation done. That feels better now that it's off my chest.

You make me feel like I missed out on not going to BB when Rob took the boys. :sad2: Next time! :thumbsup2

uh-oh --- me too..... we just like to "float" down the river with out the rafts as well....

Awwwww you put me in your scrapbook, I feel honored!! I havent even started mine yet and I dont know when I will. :sad2: I dont know if I told you, but you were the first person I told when I got engaged, haha. My mother didnt even know yet!!!!! :rotfl2:
I still can't believe we "ran" into each other....you certainly are observant! I am honored I was the first person you told. Here are the pics I put in the scrapbook: oh hold on....I had better ask if you want me to post them or pm them to you....dont want to do it before you write the installment...ok let me know.

Happy Weekend DISers!!!

I will try and get the next update up ASAP! Man, I never realized how much work writing a Trip Report can be!! But that is okay, I enjoy doing it, it is just sometimes hard to find the time.

I could barely get my last installment up...I stayed up late late late to do it...the kids are really slowing me down and I am sure your wedding planning and so on is time-comsuming. Whenever you get to the update great....we are very patient!!!! :goodvibes

DF and I are going to visit our first reception hall today! We are gonna feel them all out before we decide on one. The places I have called have told us that they are already starting to book their 2009 dates, YIKES! We gotta get a move on!! After our site visit we are gonna go see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! I AM SO EXCITED FOR IT!!

I will probably have the next installment either tomorrow or Monday for sure! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Sounds exciting....I like the wedding dress shopping part the best!!!! How was the movie....? I am not a H.P. fan ,sorry.

I am really enjoying your trip report, and looking forward to the next post. You and your DF make a really cute couple. Your pictures are great also. I am a visual person, so I love it when a trip report is full of pictures. :)
Thanks so much!! I am just like you, I love TRs that have lots of pictures it makes it so much more fun and then I feel like I am really getting to know the writer. :goodvibes

Ok I'm marking my place in this one. I proposed to my wife at Tokyo Disney.
Aw that is too sweet! Do you live in Japan? Cuz if you do that is too cool that I have international readers!! :goodvibes

the movie was good, but the book was way better!

I just caught up with you TR, I didn't know you had updated!!

BB looks like SO much fun! We're doing all the water parks this vacation, Wet'n'Wild, BB and TL, and I don't usually see a lot of BB/TL/WW TRs, especially with photos, so your TR has made me REALLY excited! I never knew there were photopass guying taking photos of you in the water either, that is so cool :teeth:

what a great trip report, can't wait to read about how he pop'd the question

Yes-- I'm from that extra large state of Georgia, but I've been living in Japan for 10 years.
That is so very cool! Do you live near the Tokyo Disney?

I love that they have Photopass guys at the waterparks!! It is so hard to get good pictures at the waterparks so that is why using Photopass is perfect, they did a really great job!

Enjoying your TR so far!! Can't wait to hear how he pops the question!
Thanks so much! I cannot wait to write about the proposal!!

what a great trip report, can't wait to read about how he pop'd the question
Thanks so much! I promise the engagement isnt too far away!

Errrrrr am I not international? :rotfl2:
See DM's (Disneyolic) quote below :rotfl2: Cuz that is exactly what I was thinking! In all seriousness though, of course you are international! I never forget all the UK readers out there!

Thanks and :welcome: I hope you are enjoying it!

Nah...you're just from the Mother Country...:lmao:
:lmao: That is exactly what I was thinking!!!!

Day 4 Continued... Chef Mickey’s

I am so sorry this took so long to post, sometimes life gets in the way, but I am here now! And I did promise I would get an update in by Monday and over here Illinois it is still Monday! Now enough rambling...where were we?

Ah yes, we were getting ready for our Chef Mickey’s ADR at 7:40 PM after a long, but fun day at Blizzard Beach. 7:40 is pretty late for us to be eating, so we were pretty hungry before it was even time for our ADR.

I was trying to figure out what to wear, like I always do so I ask DBF what he thinks I should wear and the conversation almost always goes like this:

Me: Do you think I should wear a skirt?

DBF: Sure.

Me: Well it is not really a fancy place, maybe I should shorts with a dressier top. What do you think?

DBF: Sure.

Me: But I brought all these skirts for me to wear at the dinners, and I am on vacation and it is a nice hotel, I won't be over dressed, right?

DBF: No.

Me: Well, what are you going to wear?

DBF: Don't know.

Me: Wear this, *hands him outfit*

DBF: Okay.

I know, I know, you should all feel sorry for him, he has to put up with me. :rotfl:

Anyways, once I figured out that I was indeed to wear a skirt I took a shower and it was while in the shower I could feel that I got a little sunburnt...great, it was only our 2nd Disney day and I was already sun burnt. My shoulders and stomach were terribly red, but it didn’t hurt. What did hurt were my hands, well the tops of my hands. They had gotten terribly burnt and it hurt to run my hands through water. I couldn’t figure out how I got sun burned because I wore SPF 45, but then I remembered that the sunscreen was kind of old and I never really thought it could go bad. Needless to say I threw away that sunscreen and vowed to never bring old sunscreen on vacation again.

While I got myself all primped and proper, DBF was taking a nap. I woke up and told him to start getting ready. While he took his shower, which are unusually long for a man (I mean seriously he takes FOREVER), I decided it was definitely my turn to take a nap, it was just what my tired, sun burnt body needed.

When DBF was all ready and dressed we went downstairs to find Matthew was playing photographer and asked us if we would like our picture on the stairs.

100_2251.jpg

It was very cute because you can see in the picture he set up his blanket as the “backdrop” and shined a flashlight on us as the spotlight. We told him he could work as a Photopass guy in a few years.

We waited for everyone on the couch and soon enough we were in the mini van heading to the Contemporary Resort for the first time! I love that we got to through the Magic Kingdom entrance to get there, I was so excited!! We finally arrived at the Contemporary Resort.

100_2256.jpg

It was from the Contemporary that I got my first official view of Cinderella’s Castle! My true happy place. I yelped with excited and you can be sure that DBF got one major poke when I first caught sight of the castle.

We walked into the Contemporary and I was amazed at how nice it was. Before this trip I never really thought the Contemporary was anything spectacular, at least from the outside. It looked so plain to me that it never impressed me. The minute I walked through the doors though, my mind changed. It was a very nice hotel and nothing beats the views of Magic Kingdom, it feels like you are literally in MK while you are there. I really want to stay there one day.

This seems like a good time to go Off Topic and share with you one of my life goals. It is my goal to stay at every Disney Resort at least once in my life, I am not sure if I have mentioned that before, and if I have I am sorry for repeating it. Pretty good goal, huh? I am glad DF and I will have a chance to start fulfilling that goal once on our Disneymoon in about 2 years. :cloud9:

Okay sorry for veering off topic, it happens to the best of us.

Anyways, we made our way to the elevators when a nice CM asked us if we knew where we were going, I guess we must have looked confused. We told him Chef Mickey’s and he directed us to the 4th floor, of course, I do my research and DIS so I knew where we were supposed to be headed. It was nice of him to offer his assistance though.

Within seconds we were on the 4th floor, that Contemporary has some mighty fast elevators, unless the sun had really gotten to our heads that day and we just imagined they were that fast. I swear the doors literally closed and then 2 seconds later, *ding* doors opened to the 4th floor.

We made our way to Chef Mickey’s to check in, we were about 15 minutes early. They directed us to the big plate where our pictures were taken in which we bought later. The CM then directed us to the waiting area and on the way we were eying the food selections and I spotted these bad boys.

100_2261.jpg

We copped a squat on the big round bench/couch which sits right outside the restaurant. And we waited for our buzzer to ring.

100_2263.jpg

Waiting for dinner...

100_2262.jpg

Still waiting for dinner...

100_2264.jpg

Yet still waiting for dinner...As you can see we are terribly bored now and hungry!

I don’t think we were called until 7:50 or 8:00, so much for our theory of if we check in early, they will let us in early.

We were brought to our table which was in Minnie’s section and our server, Claudette, was there waiting to take our drink orders. She was a wonderful server and was really fun and helpful. She told Matthew that at Chef Mickey’s it was okay to eat ice cream and cookies for dinner, he just loved that. She got our drinks quickly and explained to us how Chef Mickey’s works, since we were all first timers, except for Jeanne & Matthew. We all got up to hit the buffet but quickly sat back down when we saw Minnie was in our section, I was not about to miss meeting Minnie! The food could wait!

Before Minnie greeted us they played the Chef Mickey celebration song and we twirled our napkins and joined in the fun, I am sure I smacked Jeff with my napkin a few too many times for his liking, he wanted the prime rib, so did DBF. Soon enough Minnie came to our table and posed for many pictures and autographs.

100_2269.jpg

Minnie said her goodbyes to our table and the boys quickly got up to fill their plates, but they didn’t get too far because Pluto was now in our section and there would be no filling of plates while the characters were near!

100_2276.jpg

Pluto is always fun, he kept putting Matthew’s head in his mouth and we were all cracking up.

We noticed Donald was on his way, but we did have enough time to escape to the Buffet for some food, DBF and I both got the Soup of the Day, but I cannot remember what kind it was, all I know is that it was yummy! We got back to our seat and we saw the Donald was near, I think we got to take about 2 bites of our food before he was at our table.

Now, I have never insulted a character before in my life, but I guess Donald was extra sensitive that night because as he came over towards us I say to DBF, “Aw look he is so short!” Well Donald was not a happy duck at all, he had his hands (wings?) on his hips and was tapping his foot angrily at me. I tried to apologize and tell him I thought it was cute that he was short and it was not a bad thing because I am short too, but he wasn’t too accepting. That duck was mad at me and it showed.

See how much he hates me? :rotfl:

IMG_1411.jpg

Very shortly after Donald left, Goofy was at our table. I couldn’t believe how quickly the characters were coming by, it was amazing and almost too fast because no one could even take a bite and we were all starving!!

IMG_1407.jpg

We only had one more character to meet and that was the big Cheese himself, and I was super excited! I just love meeting Mickey! We scoped the area and found that surprisingly Mickey was no where near our section, so we all made quick a dash to the Buffet!

IMG_1406.jpg

I had the Parmesan Mashed Potatoes, which were delicious! I of course saw there was pasta so I immediately grabbed some of the Penne with sauce which was very good. My favorite though was the Mickey Cheese ravioli. How can you not love ravioli shaped as Mickey heads and stuffed with cheese? Those were yummy too!

Now I have to say I ate some kind of beef in some kind of gravy and I literally had to spit it out! It tasted like Christmas potpourri, not that I have ever tasted Christmas potpourri before, but I guarantee if I did it would definitely taste like that beef! :rotfl:

Other things I tried were the Garlic & Herb Roasted red potatoes, those were very good and I don’t usually care for red potatoes. I also tried the garlic steamed broccoli, I just loved how that was seasoned and I also loved the orange glazed baby carrots.

DBF got much of the same and Prime Rib, his signature dish.

The food at Chef Mickey’s overall was excellent except for that Christmas beef! I just wished the characters would come around slower, but I have to say that the character interaction was wonderful! Each character stayed at our table for a while and gave everyone special attention. We will definitely be returning to Chef Mickey’s one day.

We ate our dinners and made frequent buffet stops finally without feeling rushed. We were able to play along with the Chef Mickey’s celebration song a few more times, and that was always fun, when else can you twirl around a napkin and hit your and boyfriend you’re your boyfriend’s brother with it?

During dinner we talked about our plans for the next day which was Magic Kingdom day and our anniversary! DBF suggested that we get there early, possibly at opening so that we have enough time to see everything. Everyone agreed and I was so excited that we would be getting to MK early, that is something we never do. However, our planning got interrupted when Mickey decided to visit our table, yay! :cheer2:

IMG_1404.jpg

After Mickey left we got desserts which included a ton of cookies and those little Mickey treats which I was eying when we walked into Chef Mickey’s earlier that night.

IMG_1412.jpg

Mmmm mmmm! I think they were filled with peanut butter and the bottom is an oreo cookie.

Jeff decided to get an unconventional dessert...

IMG_1413.jpg
Yes that is more Prime Rib.

Claudette came by to give us the bill and thank us, she was so very nice and helpful the entire night because she always offered to take pictures for us with the characters. She was a true Disney CM!

IMG_1397.jpg
Our official dinner picture, you will find we have one of these for every ADR.

After dinner we wanted to see if we could catch the Electric Water Pageant, but unfortunately there was lightening in the area and it was not running that night. Instead we shopped in the gift shops near Chef Mickey’s for awhile. After a bit of shopping (Matthew bought himself the Contemporary piece for his model monorail) we decided to hop the real Monorail and go around once. This is something we do everytime we have an ADR at a Monorail resort.

Matthew kept asking his mom if he could ride in the front of the Monorail so she asked the CM and he said he could if no one else was already in it!

Turns out no one was in the front at the time and since only 4 people could fit Jeanne asked us if DBF and I would like to join them! I was so excited! I never got to ride in the front before.

I have to say seeing it from the front is sort of scary because it looks like the Monorail is going to fly right off the track! I was really disappointed with our monorail driver though, she did not say one word to us the entire time we were in there and we were in there for a whole go around! She was very cold and just stared straight ahead, it was like something out of the twilight zone. Matthew would even ask her a question and she would not answer, it was very strange, especially for Disney.

When we arrived back to the Contemporary we thanked the monorail driver, even though she was a tad on the rude side and she replied, “your welcome,” I guess she could speak after all.

We arrived back home and DBF and I went straight to bed since we would have to get up super early for Magic Kingdom the next day. I couldn’t have been more excited for Magic Kingdom! The next day would be our anniversary and we would be having dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table. Little did I know that I would also be getting engaged.

Up Next: PROPOSAL at the MAGIC KINGDOM!! - Find it on P. 12 post #170!!!

Yes I am up late too! Awaiting your installment :rotfl2: and its here!!! Just kidding! I am sewing of all things. Making an Ariel outfit for a friends daughter.

Great installment....I really liked the Contemporary too...you should see the new rooms...very modern and sleek. Did you see the crane? Do you think the North Garden area will become DVC??? That would make an excellent wedding gift dont you think??????????????

So dinner at Chef Mickey's sounded awesome....loved all the pics! You DF looks just like his brother. What's up with the silent monorail driver? Did he even give you a "drivers license" card??? It says you were a driver of the monorail. Shucks and golly darn if not....you'll have to get one the next time you go!

I am really looking forward to next installment!

I'm excited. Sounds like ya guys had better luck than us at CM's with characters than we did.

Sounds like a wonderful Chef Mickey's dinner. I love the pics of you waiting for your table - all happy at first, and then getting bored. Captures the true moods...

Oooh...so your anniversary and MK are next? Could it possibly be the big day???

Great pictures of Chef Mickeys. It brought back the memories of our WDW trip last year. We are going again next month to WDW/DCL. WE live about 30 minutes from Tokyo Disney land and SEA. I get there about once a month. Last year 15 times.

I loved your Chef Mickey installment!! We are eating breakfast there on our last day at WDW :( The one thing I'm worried most about is being at the buffet when the characters come by :rotfl: I'm glad you got a nice CM to take photos of you - I hope someone will do the same for us seeing as we always have to take photos of each other and we're never in one together!! DBF is looking forward to meeting Donald :) So am I - I've never met Donald in DLRP, I've met Daisy (see sig) but never Donald, so I am psyched for Chef Mickey's!

I cannot WAIT for the next installment! I know it's going to be a good one ;) How did wearing the anniversary badges for a non-wedding anniversary turn out? It's our 3rd anniversary on July 31st so we're celebrating in WDW also. I'm excited for the CRT review, as we're eating dinner there on our first night :)

Sounds like you had a great meal at CM's!! :thumbsup2 We had the opposite problem the last time we ate dinner there - it took FOREVER to see all the characters!! We've done breakfast a few times since & it is usually less hectic. Your pictures have me re-thinking dinner one day, though... ;)

Can't wait to hear all about your big day at the MK!!!! :)
