Our Magical Disney Honeymoon ~Sept. 7-15~ Mini Update 11/17

Great Trip Report so far! :thumbsup2 Waiting to hear what happened next! popcorn:: My Wife and I got married on the Strip in Vegas too, Little Chapel of the West. That was 30 years ago this November.:woohoo: Congrats!

Wow! We got married in Little Chapel of the West (the second time, the first one was A Hollywood Wedding Chapel across from the Stratosphere:scared1:, not the best part of town...) What a small world. I bet it looks exactly the same, probably the only thing in Vegas that does. Except, 30 years ago I believe it was on the property of the Hacienda Hotel, which was imploded about 10 years ago, and now sits across the street.

Anyways, thanks for checking in, hope your enjoying it!

Great TR so far!

The story of how you met is pretty similar to how I met my boyfriend (whose name is also Chris!) We went to the same high school (and were even in the same graduating class) and had the same group of friends but we never met each other! (He was however friends with my younger brother!) Our senior year of college (well, his senior year anyway, I transferred schools a couple time and took a few semesters off) we met online and started talking. Then we started hanging out at parties with our high school friends when everyone was back in town. We started dating and have been together for three years! We're taking our first vacation in September... and of course we're going to WDW! I've never been (I've only been to Disneyland) so I'm very excited!

I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of your honeymoon went!

welcome aboard trickiwoo! isn't it strange the way you can have the same groups of friends and not know each other? well thanks for joining in and i hope to hear more about your future trip to WDW:yay:

It's very strange indeed! We go back now and look at old photos we took in high school and every party/gathering/get-together our friends had either he's there and I'm not, or I'm there and he's not! We just kept missing each other!

On day 5 we had an ADR for Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House first thing in the morning, so we got up bright and early and headed over to AK. We didn't know much about rope drop ceremonies, and at Disneyland if you have breakfast ressies at park opening you can pass the ropes, so we were trying to maneuver our way past, but it didn't work. We were pleasantly surprised with the show to open the park. It was really cute and gets you in the mood for everything disney. Once the ropes were dropped, we made our way to Tusker House where we had about a 10 minute wait for a table. The food was really good, a lot of really exotic stuff with the regular american staples, too. We loved the jungle juice, we will return to this restaurant specifically for this juice in the future. The characters all made their way to everyone in the dining room and posed for pictures with both of us (most of the other character meals we had, the character would pose for one picture and then run off to the next table, but here they each posed with both of us and did more than one pose, another great reason to return here!)

After our yummy breakfast, we decided to go see the Lion King show. I loved it! Chris is so funny because he taped it, and got more than a couple minutes of me rocking out and singing all the songs. I didn't know he was taping me, it was really funny to see when we got home and watched it. Next I wanted to take pictures with the characters in that area (Camp Minnie-Mickey I think).

Good smile on the hubby here =)

That was all we had time for as we made our way back to the front of the park and got ready to head to EPCOT for our lunch ressie. Here's a few we took on the way out.
Tree of life in the back

And then on our way back in to EPCOT, they love to make you kiss for pictures on your honeymoon.

I love EPCOT! And that fountain. But that's all I can fit in for now, stay tuned for what happens next!

sorry it's been so long. it seems that life got in the way of my posting plans:)

my husband and i are moving, and we are trying to decide on possible new furniture and painting accent walls in our new home before moving in.

also, my dogs were in need of updated shots, so i took them to the vet and we were told, like we knew we would be, that our beagle is overweight and that she needs less food and more exercise. now when we moved into our house, we got a doggie door and they could come and go as they pleased. we had come from a home without a dog door, where we walked them on a regular basis. we got kinda lazy and used to not needing to walk them so much, and really slacked off. well, now we need to be walking them more often and we started that the very next day. a bonus for all of us because who couldn't stand to be in better shape? well, i should have stayed home that day. we walked the dogs through a park and when we came out, there was another park across the street we wanted to check out. we went to cross at the crosswalk where we had a walk signal, i have very strong feelings against jaywalking. istepped into the crosswalk with my pomeranian by my side and started walking.... this suv was waiting there to turn right. the lady had looked right at me, so i assume she saw me. at any rate, as i started walking infront of her suv, she started driving:scared1: the next thing i know, my little dog is running around my legs, tying me up in her leash (which is quite amazing because i had her on a short leash so i could keep her by my side) and my body is spinning as i am being rolled across the front bumper. my dad was alsowalking with us that day and was hit as well, but was a bit more prepared than i, putting his hands out and pushing himself off the hood and yelling at the driver. i stumbled around and miraculously all traffic around us had stopped. everyone was in shock of what had just happened. the woman in the suv sped around the corner and didnt stop or anything!:eek:people were checking to see that we were okay and offering to chase down this woman:grouphug: she had a child in he passenger seat:scared1: what kind of example is she setting for them? luckily, i was able to walk away, unharmed, but severely shaken. i cried the whole rest of the walk back to our car. just like that, my dad, my dog, and i could have been killed. my husband and my beagle just hadn't stepped into the street yet. crazy huh? i makes me sick just thinking about the fact that she didn't stop to see if we were ok... next time she might kill someone.

anyways, between that and getting ready for the big move and the fall semester starting one week from today:scared1: i haven't had all hat muchtime to write. but i've got some time today and plan to relive some more of my awesome honeymoon!

We had an ADR at Coral Reef for lunch on this day. We checked in and were sat reletively quickly at a table just one away from the aquarium. We didn't take any picture because there was a table between us and the aquarium and I didn't want to infringe on their privacy with my picture taking. We started with the Sea and Land appetizer for me and the Lobster soup app for Chris. We liked these a lot, they were just small in portion, not that it mattered since we would have so much food anyways. I am not a big fan of seafood, but I decided I would try something I've never had before to see if I liked it. I had the Mahi Mahi. It was so good! I loved it. The pineapple and coconut flavors were great. I don't remember what Chris had, but he didn't like it as much as my dish, and I let him finish it because it was way too much food for me. For dessert we had the chocolate wave and the baileys mousse. They were really great, too. The food here was pretty good overall. The atmosphere was not as impressing as people make it seem, to us. But we live in "Fabulous Las Vegas" where we have lots of amazing oversized fish tanks to look at, and I just feel that the one in the restaurant was kinda lame. It was big, yes, but the fish were not colorful, mostly gray, and there weren't many exciting species. I would come back here for the food, not because of the atmosphere. After lunch, we hung out in the Living Seas area for a bit, riding the Nemo ride and other things. Next we went to the Magic Kingdom because we hadn't been there other than that first day, which wasn't very productive. We started on the left side of the park with Adventureland. We went in the Tiki Room and through some stores before it just started downpouring on us. It was pretty crazy because I don't remember seeing any threatening clouds. We did as much as we cold while it was raining; most everyone else was hiding out in stores and under other shelters, so we decided to do as much as possible while th scared stayed back. Unfortunately, most outdoor rides, like the Jungle Cruise, weren't operating in the rain... So we did Pirates of the Carribean before making or way to Fantasyland for Small World and Philharmagic. It was freezing in both of these rides, just the A/C blowing and being soaking wet was a bad combination. Next we went up to Toon Town so I could compare it to DLR. It is 100% completely different. None of the same stuff. We went through Minnie and Mickey's houses and took these pictures with our favorite mice.
Minnie made all kinds of angry motions to my ring and her hand and the lack thereof to mickey. It was pretty funny.
image124.jpg

image128.jpg

image130.jpg

I love the poses they do with you! They really make special events truly special. By this time, the rain had completely stopped and it was dark outside. We went back over to adventureland and finished up any outdoor rides we had missed before snapping this lil beauty =)
image137.jpg

Our dinner ADR was approaching and we were excited for this one! Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue! DH loves BBQ and ribs and all that, add unlimited beer and wine and we're good! So off we went. This dinner was one of the best we had the whole trip and the show was HILARIOUS!!!! We will absolutely go back next time, it is a must! It's nice because there is a lot of audience interaction. They highlight all the birthdays, first-timers, weddings/ honeymoons, anyone else who may think they need to be pointed out =) We had a blast. And there are surprises. Just when you think you have the whole show figured out, they throw a curve ball and throw you off. Highly recommended to everyone and anyone. After the show we were exhausted. The transportation back to our resort was quick and easy. They have a bunch of busses ready and they kind of poll everyone and load the busses that way. AKL is furthest from everything, so we were last to be dropped off, it was kind of expected though. We went straight up to bed and crashed for the night.

Next up: Day 6- How do we decide which water park to go to?

ok, for those of you who don't know, i have a SIL that is only 16. my dh is 26, so there is obviously a pretty big gap between the two of them. they're not the closest of siblings either, consider the age gap and being of opposite sex doesn't help either, they don't have many of the same interests. well, last monday night, after i had written the last update, dh and i went to his parent's house for dinner. when we got there, his mother sat us down and said she had something to tell us about sil that she was worried we'd be upset about and wanted to remain upstairs while her mother told us. now let me tell you that dh and sil were raised very differently. the basic values are still the same, they are christian and go to church semi-regularly and have mostly the same morals as most people i think, but as far as media is concerned, sil is not allowed to read books like twilight and harry potter, see movies that have been poorly reviewed by a christian movie review website, or listen to music with parental advisory warnings or is just not something that mil approves of. the music thing i get, but the books i don't and the movies, chris saw plenty of movies that his sister isn't allowed to watch and he saw them at a younger age. she is also texting or on myspace and facebook ALL THE TIME! i realize i am from a different generation where we didn't rely so heavily on computers at her age, but i personally think she needs more boundaries in some places and less in others. i've also been thinking to myself all along that if i were her, i'd rebel. also know that she is a cute girl, but overweight and although boys don't ignore her (she was asked to homecoming last year), they aren't exactly lining up to date her, she's never had a boyfriend. that being said, this is what happened.

mil sits us down and tells us that all the previous week, think when i got hit by the car, sil had been lying to everyone about what she was doing and who she was doing it with. sunday and monday night, she was supposedly spending the night at a friend's house. come to find out, she met a guy online, from michigan, who is 21:scared1:, and came to las vegas and stayed at the red rock hotel, which is close to where she lives, and she stayed with him all week!!! she says that he got her a separate room when she stayed the night.... i'm thinking yeah right! i'm more likely to believe she stayed in his room on the floor or even slept in the bed with him without anything happening then he got her a room. what 21 year old male comes to las vegas from michigan, stays at the red rock, and rents a separate room for a 16 year old girl? i say none. rooms at that hotel run about $199/ night in the off season. now, this is the off season and the economy is bad, but those are still the prices, even for locals (my dh and i stayed there at least 3 times this summer for staycations). and she says this guy works at sears... at the store level. i'm not saying that's a bad job, but, i don't think someone with a job like that can afford to fly to vegas on short notice (they only met online about 2 months ago) and pay for twice the hotel. it just doesn't make sense. and he's 21... what kind of intentions do you think he had? i'm not saying i think all people you meet online are scum, i just think if you are trying to date someone you meet online, you need to be very cautious. so, mom dropped her off on sunday at the red rock to "see a movie with friends and then spend the night at friend's house", which is pretty standard activity for sil. she was supposed to stay until tuesday. tuesday, 21 yo man paid to send her home in a cab. wednesday she actually stayed home and hung out with actual friends. thursday, i called her to walk the dog with me, and it was weird because she was awake (she never wakes before 11am on non-school days) and her doorbell was ringing and she had to go really quick because her "friend" was there and they were supposed to be hanging out early. turns out, the cab was there and she couldn't keep it waiting. she stayed with him until friday. came home while her parents were still at work, via cab. that night, after she had gone up to go to bed, a friends mom called and blew her in! she is a manager of a fast food chain that is in the food court of the hotel and an employe of hers who knows sil saw her with the older man and told her. she then asked her daughter about it, who knew nothing and was very concerned and urged her mother to tell my mil. and that's how we got where we are. she says nothing sexual happened. not even kissing... i don't believe her at all. if she lied to all of us about everything she was doing, why should we believe her now. so i'm really pissed off and concerned

i'll give more details later, but i have to rush off to class now and my laptop is dying!:scared1: i'm interested to hear what you think and tell you her punishment.

after another hectic day at school, i'm here to tell you what my MIL gave to my SIL as punishment for her deceptiveness. she is grounded to the house for 1 month, grounded from sleepovers at friend's houses for 3 months and for future sleepovers MIL will be contacting the parents to make sure this is a legit sleepover and not a cover for her to do this again. my POV is "WHAT?!?" let me start by saying: i don't have any kids yet, so please don't be offended by my probable lack of knowledge on how to discipline, i'm sure it will change in the future when i may be put in the situation. moving forward, in addition to being grounded, i would have taken away her cell phone and changed the number so he couldn't call her anymore. i would have taken away her priviledges for internet use, unless it was needed for schoolwork, and also delete her myspace account. i would also obligate her to specific hours of family time, with no friend interruptions (often times we go over there for family events and she has friends over, nothing wrong with friends, but when you only see your grandparents for 3 days twice a year, you should be hanging out with them, not your friends that you see at school 5 days per week. or i offer to take her shopping or to a movie for sisterly bonding time and she asks if her friend can come A) i'm in no position financially to be paying for her friends to do fun things and B) if your friends are there, it's no longer a sister event but a her and her friend event with me chauffeurring. no dice.) and lastly, i would have definitely NOT taken her on the trip she had been planning on going on all summer with her friends; i would have taken her to keep a close watch onher, but i would not have let the friends come. no way.what do you think? i'm interested to know.

I agree with you on your viewpoint. First off, its no wonder she rebelled because of the strict guidelines shes under, but that is quite a huge lie!

Anyway, love the mickey/minnie pics, so cute!!

Thanks for confirming what I thought. I was beginning to think I was crazy! Now we find out she's going to the high school football game tonight.... what happened to grounded for a month?

Since we had had an opportunity to really explore all the parks, we decided to have a nice, leisurely breakfast and then head over to one of the water parks. We ate at Boma, which was similar to Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House. They had the jungle juice, all the more reason to eat there! All the food was great. They had the regular typical American breakfast food like mickey waffles, scrambled eggs, and bacon, but they also had a huge variety of food from different regions in Africa. Chris said it was all really great, I'm kinda a wimp about trying things that are different, and I have a tendency to go to buffets and get a little bit of everything and then go home full of mediocre food. I think I decided on that day that when we came back there for breakfast next time that I would try something different. After that we went down to the bus stop to wait for the water parks bus. Our method for choosing a park was to get on whichever bus came first. Great, right? So we went to...

image139.jpg

Blizzard Beach! Both buses actually pulled up at about the same time, so we got on the one we were standing closest to. Once we were in the park we decided to go for the biggest rides first and work our way down because we figured they would probably have the longest waits later in the day. Somehow my picture getting ready to go pic got deleted, but this is me on the slide then Chris getting ready to and taking the plunge!

and then us right after we got off the slide

We had an awesome time at Blizzard Beach, and because we went right at opening time, we did all the rides in the park and were able to go back to the hotel by 2pm. We went back and took showers and got ready for the day, I was really excited for Hollywood Brown Derby, where we had dinner reservations. Before we went to DHS, we walked around the hotel and got some pictures of the animals on the savannah.

I was so excited to see that zebra! I had been looking for one since we had got there and then all of a sudden there were a bunch of them!

OMG! I can't believe this woman. So happy that you guys were ok.

I have been catching up on your trip report. Great job! You guys are the cutest couple!!

Stephanie

Ok guys, sorry it's been so long. School is officially kicking my butt, my husband and I moved, and I started a new job! So I've been a little busy. Hope that all of you are doing well. I will get an update up here by this weekend, I promise. I just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about you!

Later that night, we made it back to DHS to go on some more rides, and more importantly, our Brown Derby reservation. Chris found this walker thing by star tours to shake his fist at.

190-1.jpg

I also got some more shots by the wizard hat, can never have too many of those!

image159.jpg

image164.jpg

We also caught a bit of the HSM parade before we got to the Brown Derby for our dinner res. We had booked the Fantasmic dinner package, so we were excited to eat a yummy dinner and get to our show at a leisurely time, since we had reserved seating. The atmosphere of the place was awesome. There were "agents" walking around talking to the people as if they were their clients and they were making deals. The whole thing was hilarious. We had the crab cakes and cobb salad for our appetizers. We also had a couple glasses of wine. I had the pork dinner and I think Chris had a Seared Tuna filet. We both loved everything. We finished off with the flourless chocolate cake. Next time I think I want to try the grapefruit cake. After we ate, we checked out some of the shops and then made our way over to the show. It was really nice to have a large are to sit at and see the show, at DLR the seating area is very small, leaving most people to stand, so we don't usually stick around for the whole thing. This was great to be able to sit down and watch the whole show and be able to see it from a good angle.

After that fun filled day, we returned to our room to find this guy waiting for us!

On this day, we slept in and had a late breakfast at Boma. I was really excited to go play some miniature golf. We had noticed a course when we were at Blizzard Beach the day before and we knew that we would be back. My husband and I love mini golf. There used to be a few places we could go in Las Vegas, but one by one, they all closed. The most recent one closed so that they could build a high rise condo tower close to the strip. When that last one closed, I was so bummed. That's why we were so excited to golf at disney. Anyways, we had at blast. We played at WinterSummerland where the theme was Santa's vacation. When we were done we got a golfball with Goofy on it and a mini Sharpie marker. I'm not really sure why we got a marker, but whatever, I use sharpies at work, so now I have a souvenir one.:rotfl:

192-1.jpg

We had a lunch ressie at Mama Melrose's at DHS, so after our intense mini golf match up, we went over there for lunch. I had the Mozzerella and Tomatoes appetizer and Chris had a bread sticks and dips and spreads plate. It was good. For our entrees he had a flat bread and I had Chicken Parmesan. We had tiramisu for dessert. It was all pretty good. This was a place that Chris can't do without on our next trip to the world. After lunch we took some pictures of the cars of the stunt show and the Miss Piggy fountain.

193-1.jpg

And we stopped by the streets of New York.

image170.jpg

We finished up at DHS and went back to our hotel to change and get ready for dinner at Jiko. We started with some wine, a cheese plate and the BLT salad. All of them were great. For our entrees we had the filet mignon and the spice crusted tuna. We had creme brulee for dessert. The staff wrote a card for us to congratulate us on our honeymoon. It was really nice.

After dinner, we wanted to go to MK to see the Spectromagic parade. We got this picture on the way in.

image175.jpg

image180.jpg

We got a great spot on the curb at the corner where Main St starts approaching the castle. Two sets of parents started fighting about who was there first and who shoud leave just a few minutes before the parade started. :scared1: It really ruined the mood in the area, I was kind of hoping they would ask them to leave, but they didn't, and both parties stayed there throughout the whole parade. It was pretty awkward because they were literally right next to us. The parade as beautiful! We had planned to stay for Wishes also, but we were so tired, we decided to go back to our room and go to bed. Wishes is on our list to see next time, hopefully it will be the holiday version :yay:
