Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

I just added another $72 to my Travel bank since our tickets dropped another $36 a piece :cool1:

Catching up.......

4th grade can be a rough one that is the grade I stayed back in because I could not get my penmanship perfected even after staying after school each day to practice (the Palmer Method) with the nun standing over me. sister Regina I will never forget you :lmao:

Luckily my boys both made it thru 4th my troubles started in middle school :scared1:

I wish you all lots of patience and luck dealing with the new school year :grouphug:

OMG Sheila, my Mom was taught by nuns too, and tells stories about it. She is left handed, and they did not like that at all, she took many hits on the knuckles with a ruler over that. I guess kids these days don't have it so bad!LOL!:scared:

What airline??

Dani: Frustrating!!! I feel for you. Hope it gets better for Daniel.:grouphug:

Can I just say I hate having to make mom decisions. Steven is still fighting his cold but no fever and seems to do ok with a decongestant in him. I know he could make it to school with meds in him but he is saying he doesn't want to go. He was up at 5:30am needing meds so I know he is tired (aren't we all). I feel like I should push him to go to school but know it can back fire quickly. If I knew he wasn't missing a half day in the 27th and a whole day on Oct 4th for our Disney trips I would feel better about him staying home.

I swear I am as indecisive with these kinds of decisions as I am with resorts, lol!!!

Sometimes you just need to listen to your instincts and know your child. Last week was the first week back to school, new school for DD6 and 1st grade! Big time. We thought she would be scared, she wasn't. It was also the first week that she would be starting on her "pre-team" gymnastics practices, which means she has gone from 1 hour a week to 4 hours per week! Alot for a 6 year old. Her first 2 hour practice was Thursday. She was exhausted afterwards....literally fell asleep on my shoulder as I walked her to the car....but she did it.

Come Saturday, it's time for her second 2 hour practice....1/2 way there, she starts to tell me her stomach hurt and she was going to throw up. She is in tears. We get to gymnastics and I tell her that if she is really sick, we will go home and she will lay in her bed for the rest of the day. From her reaction to that, I could see she was weighing out her options (yet still bawling her eyes out). Well, she calmed herself down and told me that she is very nervous and that was what was making her tummy hurt. I gave her a nice pep talk and out onto the floor she went and did great!!!

I'm glad I didn't give in and just bring her home. My instinct told me that she was just nervous and that she could make it through the class, and I was right. Plus, for the cost of her classes per month, she will have to be missing a limb to miss a class...:rotfl:

I *think* she learned to tough it out, even when she's not feeling up to it. I know I still go to work when I'm sick...we have to do what we've gotta do.

K, just rambled on there...but that's my most recent story of mommy decisions being made by the gut. :goodvibes

Oh and Jen, 4th grade was horrible for us too! The work load really piles up as well as the work itself being that much harder. The teachers really make the kids responsibility for so much and I wonder if sometimes they forget they are still kids. Hang in there!!! I know you and DD can get through this!!! HUGS!!!

HUGS Candace!! That is a lot for a 6 year old! Im glad she pushed through it. Sarah has a lot of anxiety so I totally understand. And for Sarah I would push it. But because of the Asperger's, when Steven isn't feeling well he hits major meltdown mode a lot quicker than usual. I'm leaving him home for now, but if he wakes up feeling better I may just bring him late.

Yeah, you definitely have more complicating factors. Hopefully Steven gets lots of rest today and is feeling better soon! Remember from Tangled "Mother knows best!!!". :goodvibes

So, I also would like to express my concern for 4th grade.....it's not DD...she is one of those bubbly kids who gets along with everyone and has a bunch of friends, always teachers pet...blah, blah, blah. I love her teacher (know her personally), so that's not the issue....

My issue is the TECHNOLOGY!!! :headache: I am just overwhelmed right now with thinking about how I am going to monitor DD's progress this year. 90% of her homework assignments during the week are on-line or using apps on her Ipod Touch. I normally have rule that she can't use her Ipod Touch, Wii, or DS during the school week - well, that's out the window, because she cant complete her homework assignment without going into the apps. I knew this was coming...our school has every peice of technology out there - every kid in class has an iPad at there desk, they have the whiteboards, etc...but, she has always brough home her PAPER homework, and I could check it, etc...

Not this app stuff...I see her on there and I'm like "I hope you're doing your homework!" and she shows me what she is doing, and she is doing her homework. I want to see it, and she's like I already submitted it to my teacher. It's going to drive me nuts!!! :crazy2:

Vent!!!!

I was helping a friend Book their first Disney vacation and plan it. I sent them links and wrote paragraphs upon paragraphs of info, she pm's me back saying oh we will just stay value with free qs dining plan cuz other stuff is a waste of money. Fine. Cool. Whatever u want its ur money i was ok with everything. Thy leave Saturday. Yesterday she pm's me askin about MNSSHP and BOG. She wants ressies for like 5 character meals all of which have NO openings. Plus BBB and on and on. I feel bad but I told them they needed to book that stuff months ago!

Candace - I know, the technology is crazy nowadays! I miss good old brown paper grocery bag covered books!

Dani - no it's not April yet, but I'll help you pass the time :)

Mommyof3 - I know, some people just don't get it at all!!! It drives me crazy! People don't realize how fast and early some things book. Granted you can still have a great time just "winging it" but then don't expect all these openings when you decide last minute. I always tell my friends and family, book early if you think there is a chance you want it, you can always cancel.

Welcome to my life! lol Seriously though, it's very annoying. And when you're their TA they expect you to be able to fulfill their wishes at the snap of your fingers. Most of my clients are very understanding, but there are a few people I've wanted to fire from being my clients. :lmao:

Melissa that's why you're my soul sister!

So in all my honesty and best Boca Jappy whiny voice....I don't want to stay at Pop, I want to stay at a deluxe. I know it's one night and we are so park intensive, but I'm spoiled. WAH!!!

How about POFQ? :goodvibes

I would LOVE to surprise DS with a quick trip over break or something though...too bad we don't have the same Spring Break...
That stinks you don't have the same break!

I have been sick the past few days.... gotta love the kids
Hope you are feeling better!!

Jeanette sounds like all the pieces are coming together :thumbsup2 Fingers crossed you can get a good deal on airfare
So far its doable! Hope to purchase by next Friday!

We need a new oven still, BUT I was chatting with DH about possibilities...and he thinks I will make it happen..WDW for all of us that is!! I wasn't going to surprise them, BUT there are other things. I want to take a break from school. Just an 8week term...10/20 til 12/21. Financially I could use the $$$ and my brain is so OCD I just am struggling with everything. I just want to make sure I go back in January (no permanent breaks;))

Sooo I am watching Toy Story 3 with the kids and my heart actually hearts from missing Disney so badly. I know you are the only ones who will understand this. I want to be in Disney SO badly, on TSMM, taking the kids to Pizza Planet, and just being in Disney!

I have been making progress with my planning, but today I booked a new client so that's taking up some of my planning time now. I'm not complaining! More Disney $$
 I understand sis! My kids are loving old Mickey cartoons...really miss my MickeyWorld:goodvibes

Jeanette: I love that the little princesses have weaseled their way into the trip! How could you possible think of leaving them behind??

My eldest is having a bit of a hard time adjusting to grade 4 so far. she had quite the class last year as far as misbehaved kids, and her teacher was sweet but really let a lot go. Her teacher this year is nothing like that and is setting the bar really high for the kids. The expectations are huge this year, which is a good thing. But the poor mite is not used to teachers calling out kids, making them cry and sending others out in the hall for whispering to friends. :faint: She has a veteran teacher who isn't going to put up with anything. I keep telling DD that she is a good kid who doesn't have to worry about getting in trouble, just do her work and focus on that.

Ahhh....tween hormones thrown in doesn't help either!:rolleyes2

Jen
Yeah, my girls didn't make a fuss, but BOY can they drop a hint:lmao:

Add me to the I hate 4th Grade club PLEASE:grouphug: HRH struggled the end of last year, and she is already overwhelmed Poor thing. Her teacher has a child with Asperger's so I am trying to keep an open mind. It's just the work is a challenge and I have already seen a decline with her behavior (she shuts down when she's anxious or upset)

My middle daughter is in the 4th grade too. Her teacher was new last year and let some thing go. This year she has the same teacher which I think helped a little bit but she is nervous about all the work.
The whole method of teaching seems to change year to year, or so it seems! UGH

Hi Mommyof3:wave2: it is so hard being a parent, you feel like you want to fix everything for them, but in reality they have to go though these things. Part of growing up and changing. Three girls is special isn't it?
Ah, yes is it :rolleyes:princess:princess:princess:

I had a river view at Parterre, got an upgrade. It was nice, but not something I'd pay for. But that's me. I'm more interested in location, at a moderate.
I agree with that Sue. I've never stayed at POR but without a balcony, I don't care about a view...LOCATION But everyone does look for different things in a resort, so it's all good!
Jen A-FREAKIN-MEN SISTER! Grade 4 is the pits for us so far! I am ready for June already. :rotfl: I've already stirred the pot as well, and just feel this year is going to drag by. They sent me home an emergency contact info card...in SPANISH with an English translation! That just pushed me over the edge and I sent it back with a note that we only speak and understand English and I will be needing a card that reflects that. Then there's the paperwork sent home from his teacher which has some of the worst grammar I've ever seen. I can't even deal with this!
Ah, no hablas espanol mi Hermana :rotfl: I have received college mail from the Hispanic Nurses Association in Spanish...ummm really :sad2: And here's to June getting here RAPIDO

I just added another $72 to my Travel bank since our tickets dropped another $36 a piece

 So did he make it to school? I allow HRH more sick days than I should, because I feel like she may need them. I've been better watching test dates, etc...but if I push the issue it can progress to a migraine or panic attack for her..which IMO isn't worth it, then she really is in agony :sad1:

Ugh, that is frustrating..you put so much into helping, and no one listens...we don't have desktop countdown for nothing, ADRs are serious business ;)

:rotfl2: Awwwww, yep been there done that...Pop is pretty flippin cool, but the room size compared to a deluxe can feel :crowded:

I actually had a few minutes in a row to catch up here, so it's time for one big, baaaaaaaaad multi-quote:

But what scored top points was my meal at Kuzzina. I had the Fisherman's stew. Wow! Go figure. You'd think it should be at Flying Fish!!
We've done breakfast and enjoy the creative options, so thanks for the Fisherman's stew shout out. Gonna have to book a dinner there now, and then watch the BW buskers for dessert. :dance3:

I feel much more settled now after the decision has FINAlly been made, it only took 2 RCers 3 days and probably 1,000 emails, literally to decide!!!
Classic!!!!! :rotfl2:

So the "STD View Club Level" is in fact the Tower Club 14th floor? This may explain why when I've asked in the past for Tower Club availability with the military rate, there hasn't been any. It's not designated as Tower Club anywhere on the reservation? Now that the 14th floor has just re-opened after its rehab and you were able to book it, I think I've got to figure out our summer dates and make a call.
So did you make the call? Like-minded inquiring minds are jones-ing for another CR stay. :cutie: Hope you can get the room type you want.

After the discussion, my understanding is that the non-suite club level rooms are categorized as follows:

Standard Atrium CL: 12th floor view of Bay Lake
TPV Atrium CL: 12 floor view of MK
Standard Club Level: 14th floor queen
King Standard Club Level: 14th floor king

I was leery at first, but the fact that she confirmed it, that I was able to book a king specific code, and that the price was in line with the differences between the Atrium CL and Tower CL all seemed to fit together.
Some CMs make me feel so queasy that I hang up and try again with another CM. Thanks for helping to decipher the newest CR CL code. ;)

Oompa Loompa
Congrats to DD on scoring the most amazing part ever!!!! :woohoo: I'd kill to play a Oompa Loompa!

Magic - you feeling a quick F&W trip???? Would love to meet you there ;)
So, ummmmm, when are you doing this F&W thang??? popcorn::

Well it's done! Added girls to Poly reservation. Boys will have to fend for themselves at Music! Rented a minivan to make life easier for all (I'll use parking at Poly...easy peasy. It'll be a boys trip within a family trip!
As it should be! :goodvibes

Wanyama Safari 2X. I am trying to research it have looked at a couple of reviews and thinking it might work if I can book it for my trip. Problem I am having trouble finding anything out as to how to book it and the cost.
When the new website was up with dining early this year Wanyama Safari was available with the dining ressies on the WDW website. I wondered how that would work if non-AKL peeps tried to reserve it that way. We booked it for May but then if you remember I was deathly sick for our whole AKL stay so we cancelled some good ADRs :guilty: and poor DH ate a lot of Mara stew and I ate crackers. Keep me posted how you like it if you decide to do it. :)

I priced out a Mardi Gras trip to Disney today staying at POFQ From 3/2-3/7. Might be doable but when I mentioned it to Bob he said he'd rather stay someplace new :faint: I guess I will keep looking and figuring maybe POR.
Yes, go-go-go then! I wil be at WDW and you can always stay at FWC where we'll be.... or not! :lmao:

4th grade can be a rough one that is the grade I stayed back in because I could not get my penmanship perfected even after staying after school each day to practice (the Palmer Method) with the nun standing over me. sister Regina I will never forget you.

Yup! Agree. I sent a long time friend who requested the WDW dirt for planning their summer trip lots of information and I don't even know if they went to WDW at all!!! :headache: Other people I know think I am nuts for planning the "big stuff" so far in advance but after one trip without getting any ressies or ADRs they wanted, they quickly come over to the dark side. :earsgirl:

Awwww, yes I venture to say we all getcha!!! :grouphug:

Most of my clients are very understanding, but there are a few people I've wanted to fire from being my clients.
I'm so glad business has taken off so well for you. And, yep, you can fire a few every now and again. :rolleyes1

PACKING CUBES! $7.99 for a pack of 4. WHOA! And very well-made, I might add. (In pink, too.) :lovestruc .....
Magic, with the generic ticker, where's the next stay? :scratchin
True to form, you are a packing-cube goddess!! princess: ...... OK, so I have a few irons in my WDW fire. So far I have a little weekend stay in Oct for my bday at SSR (if we positively can't make it to NC mountains that week due to workload). I have 2 Decembers ressies booked: one early Dec at POFQ, and 2 nights the weekend before Christmas with my DB at CSR business class (DB loves CSR). Next, 2014 brings FWC :lmao: in late Feb/Mar for DH bday/our anniv trip. And then BWI is already booked for next August. :hourglass

And I totally agree about calling back when you are pretty sure you have a clueless CM. I've been there.:rotfl:

Okay so ladies talk me out of this, if we switched to 2 rooms at POP (or any value) or a family suite at ASM as of right now our resort portion of November trip would be PIF. Should we do it?? It would certainly take the pressure off the milltary like vacations saving we are doing currently.;)

But we do have a lot of dinners at Epcot, and I don't know, i really loved that area. But for $$$ more.....I am not sure.

I know DH will say leave it alone again, but I can pretty much persuade him to do anything.

can someone price out Nov 17-23 two rooms at POP, All star music, movies or sports for me with the AP discount? I still cannot see it on the website. Also a family suite at All Star Music?

I appreciate it!!

Jen:flower3:

Lol about your DH. Same with mine. :) The big advantage of being near Epcot/HS is it saves a lot of time.
When I am waffling, I tend to work out a more detailed itinerary for a day or two. If I can live with allowing the extra travel time, great. If it's going to make me nuts, I stay put.
Re-reading this, I'm not sure I was of any real help. It's one of those crazy days around here. :crazy2:
