Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

Trish I see it!!!

Kim I put my favorite meal ever in the slow cooker. Salsa chicken

Candace No way! How did that happen?!

Okay so I am working on my plans because we make our ADRs relatively soon. I already know I shouldn't even be considering this, but would you book BOG on Easter night? I know MK is just going to be packed. Been there, done that. I was thinking instead to spend the day at the pool, maybe even a water park, then have dinner at Cali Grill, and since the parks will be open late, head out in the late evening. What sounds better?

I just really wanted to be in MK area for this trip. DH has promised to stop making fun of the GF, so BOOM! I made the change. :goodvibes

I bet we'll end up loving it...but, at the very least we will be able to cross it off the list.

The one thing I really, really HATE about the GF is being the last bus stop picked up and dropped off. The buses are always packed by the time they reach the Grand, and it takes soooo much longer to get back when you return. Even on the monorail, you're the last stop before MK so during peak travel hours you're squished in.

Yeah, luckily the whole transportation thing (at any resort) doesn't much bother us...we are just happy not to have to drive...our whole thing is the amenities at the resort. And I love both pools at GF and the proximity to Sugarloaf. I personally like the current rooms, but supposedly Sugarloaf is getting room rehabs in June, so we'll probably have a brand new room, which doesn't suck.

The food offerings at GF are more our style too, so in the big picture, I think it's an overall better fit. I just don't want to hear any "nursing home" comments from DH. :lmao:

I'm surprised to hear that about the offerings. I read what was posted recently on the GF thread about the CL offerings and it sounds like the exact same meh stuff they put out at YC in April and BC in August. :confused3

I was very disappointed when I read that because I loved the offerings at RPC last year and now I'm kicking myself for upgrading to SL. It doesn't make sense to downgrade now though because the GV rooms aren't available with the double discount anymore so I would only save like $70 total to drop CL. :upsidedow

Good luck to your DD btw! :goodvibes

I mean more our style in contrast to AKL's offerings. DH was just :scared: about a lot of the stuff. He even said YC's selection was better...

Evening Everyone

Hi Janet

Dani POP and WL CL sound great, I love the food offerings at WL but I really want the convienence of being close to Epcotfir F&W ya know? Or I'd be booking WL.

wookie Your trip is fast approaching! :cheer2:

Candace :thumbsup2 Back to GF SL! I have to agree about the food Bob as picky as he is would have second thoughts about CL at AKL too. I am hopeing he likes the offerings at BWI, I know he would love WL CL

We LOVED the offerings when we stayed in Sugarloaf. I was there for afternoon tea every single day :rotfl:The boat ride back from the MK in the evening was lovely. There was such a nice breeze on those hot, sticky September nights. I really just wish they could figure out the transportation issues. There's no reason the 3 most expensive resorts should all share buses.

I think Disney needs to reevaluate the bus situation at all the Deluxe Resorts. Originally the Deluxe resorts were smaller/fewer rooms so sharing wasn't bad but now with all the additions of DVC and higher occupancy sharing buses just does not work anymore.

100% agree with that one. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I am pretty content...of course still eyeing the Poly. :rotfl: Old habits die hard and all that. We may just end up back on that monorail yet!

And I DEFINITELY agree about the bus sharing. I have been saying this on the Poly thread since the addition of the GF DVC. It just doesn't work with all the extra rooms, especially since they all hold so many people. They are designed for families, so with that in mind they will be hosting more people than a standard room does on average.

BTW.....funny story....today I'm taking to DD9 about resorts etc....she says that if we ever go back to the YC, she wants the room like "the nice lady with all of those kids"....she then proceeded to tell me though, that Disney probably only gives those rooms to families who need the space, so I should "have some more babies and get a HUGE Disney room" :rotfl2:

Hey Ladies, DH went to visit FIL in iCU today. He is supposed to be resting after having the stent in yesterday, but instead is fighting with the nurses, yelling at family, and being very miserable. DH ended up staying not very long with him as it was just too difficult, he kept saying as soon as he gets his clothes he is "out of there".:worried:

DH wants to take the kids there after their first day of school tomorrow but I am not sure I want that.

Anyway, on a better note we are hoping to see the AP rates tomorrow maybe? :worship: hopefully.

Sorry I haven't properly responded to you all , I have read along.

Oh, I'm so sorry this is all going on Jen Do they even let kids in the ICU? When my mom was in there was a strict no under 18 rule :confused3

Keeping my fingers crossed for a great AP rate for you guys. It sounds like you could use major pixie dust right about now. pixiedust:

Afternoon tea is the BEST. You can't top those scones and the devonshire cream and jam. OMG I think we are going back to GF! :lmao:
