Our little thread of BIG Resort Changes~2013 Spring RC installment

I think that for April, I will be booking Poly CL!
I have to make that happen and if the military discount is renewed, that's what I am going to book, regardless of the construction. I know that Disney won't allow it to be to intrusive, and if they do, they will make it right.

Our backup if it looks like the construction will be too bad, will be GF Sugarloaf! :goodvibes

The kids don't know we will go in April. We have decided it will be a surprise...all part of our trying to get them to appreciate things more...them thinking they are not going next year is certainly working to our favor...:rolleyes1

I had a talk with DS the other night about not going to Disney and why and how he acted the last trip, etc. in the moment, he seemed to understand and felt bad, etc. but then the next day, he was back to his usual 6 year old self. ;-) but he did say that AKL would be a cool hotel to stay at sometime since he really liked Kali River Rapids ride at AK. LOL. Of course he really wants to stay in a pirate room at CBR, like we were going to last year before I upgraded us to BC...really not feeling the double beds though...idk...thoughts?

Yum!!! That is what I am planning on getting, I cannot wait to try it!!

Mmmm...beignets and coffee...if I had to choose a moderate, that's where I'd be!

I must say I have never stayed at POFQ but that would definitely be the next moderate resort I would try!!

What about a split stay? You could stay a couple nights in the pirate room and then switch to AKL for the remainder of your trip. My DH and I stayed at CBR back in '09 and I liked the resort, he wasn't too crazy about it because of all the bus stops and how spread out the resort is. Then of course we found the Poly and have been staying there since. :)

Dessert Party for August Dates Open, if anyone needs to book it!

Thank you so much for posting this. :worship: I totally forgot I was waiting on this. I booked it for our last night!

Dani - Hang in there. I agree with wookie about shutting down any nosey onlookers. ::yes:: Sounds like the Poly is amazing as usual. Enjoy! :cloud9:

Miss - Glad you got in under the wire on that last AP! I love reading about your sneaky prepping. I totally always have the MI theme song in my head when reading your posts.

Janet, pas, gywnne - Keeping you all in my thoughts on the work stuff.

Mousemommy - Sounds like you had fun at NKOTB! :yay: Poly dreaming for April sounds great! I do agree with you that Disney does a pretty good job of containing construction. The only deal breakers for me are main pool or CS closures. Anything else I can deal with. :goodvibes

Hi to everybody else!::wave2::

Miss-Our weather continues to be bizarre. DH left for work this morning, it was 43 degrees. He told me he wasnt taking a jacket in June, no matter what the temperature.

MM-Sounds like you had a great time at the concert! Poly CL, sounds like a perfect fit!:thumbsup2

Lacey-Thanks for your sweet thoughts. Love your idea to check out more resorts before having a repeat. :goodvibes

Koh-Glad you got your dessert party reservations! Liked your comments, we have good taste in breakfast-beignets and coffee are the best! :cool1:

Iheart-Glad you got your dessert party ressies, too! Thanks for your kind thoughts.

Sjs314-I like your ticker, Food and Wine and Poly time has a very nice ring to it!

And...I was reading on the WL thread, and I think our Kookster has a wonderful update! Hope she stops by here and fills us in on her happy (trip planned) news!! :dance3:

I'm doing the same with DayQuil. Luckily the throat isn't hurting, but the sinus cavities feel like they're going to explode.

Well I take my midterm tonight. We should have taken it last week (since it was week 4), but we didn't. We only had class one day last week, due to Memorial Day, and taking the midterm would have meant no lecture for the week. Anyway, hope y'all have a great night.

Yay for online check-in! Kick some butt on that mid-term, my fellow Dayquil compadre. :goodvibes

Hi Friends! Happy June!
Miss E - when are you spilling the beans???? I am so tempted to just go out and get APs. Then figuring out where and when to use them :lmao:

Hiya Lacey! We're doing a Jen and waiting until we pick her up from school on Wednesday. Going to put daddy in her favorite (of his) Mickey t-shirt and have the suitcases waiting at the front door. :)

Dessert Party for August Dates Open, if anyone needs to book it!

Thanks for letting us know over here, too. :goodvibes I think I just may try to book for our Oct. trip when those dates open up.

Just booked 8/8!!!

Yay! :hyper:

I must say I have never stayed at POFQ but that would definitely be the next moderate resort I would try!!

Not stayed there either but went over to visit when we were staying at POR. I'd happily stay at either of those methinks. :thumbsup2

Miss - Glad you got in under the wire on that last AP! I love reading about your sneaky prepping. I totally always have the MI theme song in my head when reading your posts.

Hey you. :wave2: Good thing she's not super-nosy, I've had the ME envelope sitting out in the open for a few days now. :lmao: I really need to work on my MI skills.

Oooooo, Kook! We're breaking out the popcorn::

Waving hello! Long day, nuero pysch for Steven, therapist for Sarah and all the little things in between. School parties tomorrow then I should have some time to catch up!

We just booked our bounceback...here at the Poly! All of the CL CM's treat us like family here and we just love it so much. We have really been enjoying the resort and spending a lot of time taking advantage of all of the amenities. Even though this is our shortest Disney stay ever, we are really relaxed and having a blast. This is our home. :cloud9:

I'm at a booking impasse.
Are you STILL at a booking impasse? :scratchin

MAGIC seems like mostly speculation last I read about DVC going in. Decided again against booking SOA if it is still there in Nov. They were still taking ADRs last time I looked. I just don't want to have my first and possibly last Poly stay to be amist construction everywhere.
Yup. I get ya! We changed our August trip last year TO Poly for that same reason: get one last stay in before the construction and refurbing since we didn't know how extensive it would actually be amid all the swarming rumors. :upsidedow

We made a change today. After a lot of back and forth, dh finally got the furlough notice. I have my trip fund, but we agreed to make a change at the beginning, will save us some $$$. Contemporary will have to wait, but I know it will be there down the road. Thought about WL, but he loves AKL, so we're two nights there and then over to YC. I was able to book Saana, the Jiko wine tasting and then a dinner at Boma. Very happy it all worked out.
I am sure you are glad to at least have some resolution so you can move forward. So true that CR will be waiting so don't give it another thought this year. A two night AKL stint to stay close to the resort like and relax and enjoy their fine dining sounds great. And then the totally different YC vibe with SAB and Epcot Resorts sounds like a great trip plan. :dance3:

Trip is still on....2 WDW nts (not making a big huge announcement as we will be in a FWC...shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
pas130... go ahead and shout it from the rooftops while wearing your best Dan'l Boone cap that you are staying FWC. I think it is fantastic!! I am proudly staying there next March and I can't wait to hear your report. So don't go changing it now... ya hear??!!!!! :rotfl2:

MAGIC - LOVE my parents new place, it is so much smaller than what they have had in the past, but still plenty big for them and for us to visit  They really needed to downsize, so I am very happy for them. The only thing I found really strange about Sarasota was how all the old and new neighborhoods and buildings are all together. Over here we have an old area of Boca and newer area, but over there it is all mixed. But loved being only a few miles from Siesta Key, absolutely LOVE that beach So will July be your re-do at WDW? Or are you going to push that off.
The Sarasota town planners stuck their heads in the beach sand 50 years ago and haven't taken then out yet. Sarasota county has such a complete lack of planning zoning etc it is frightful. ... Glad Mom & Dad's place rocks. :cool1: ... OK so our annual trip with out of town family is usually August but starts July 31 this year. That is set in stone and usually doesn't change too much except for resort. But I do have that rescheduled date from Mom's cancellation scheduled for 11 days earlier on July 20. Now that will most probably change as my old friend is now thinking they probably won't arrive at WDW til the end of her Florida trip instead of the beginning as originally planned. If so, I may still do a night at Celebration Bohemian or similar just to go have dinner with her. Then I will move the ressie to a MNSSHP date. Thanks for asking. I hope you followed that... I can't even keep up with me sometimes!

Was just pricing out a Nemo suite at AoA or a suite at ASMu for our August dates... LOL.
Nice! I can't wait to stay at a family suite. I am leaning toward Cars. :woohoo:

...Now to save money and because of the reviews have switched back to POFQ. This will save us $900 since we switched from business class. We were going to rent a car because of the size of the resort and we don't think we will any more so that is another $400. This will be our final change. Is this abnormal?
Not at all. And you may change again, just for fun. :earboy2: POFQ is a great small adult geared resort, so definitely giving up the car is a good $$ savings. And the small size ensures a room close to food, pool etc so no upgraded room cost needed there either IMO.

I checked on the price for GF villlas .... $145 per point :scared1: way too much for my blood! Heard it is going up to $150 on June 19th when sales are released for the public. If I add on it'll be a resale somewhere .... just don't know where.
Ouch! :crazy2:Those GF prices are pricey. Gotta get creative with that financing somehow.

On my phone so can't manage a fancy multi-quote, but wanted to say hello to all off you. Loving Dani's pics!
Hi Miss. Keep popping those Airborne. :thumbsup2 So soon for you. pixiedust:

I really want the BC again though, and DD8 cannot stop talking about it there, she draws it, writes about it, talks about it. She told me mom this was the best vacation of her life. ... Oh and just found out Canada Revenue is scrutinizing my tax return.
Awwww, I hope you can get back to BC this year for DD. princess: Best wishe with the Canada Revenue revue. Scary stuff.

Well I got a reward for my stressful week today. My brother texted me last night and asked if anyone in my bunch wanted to go see a Texas Rangers game. OMG, the seat were....OMG!!!!
I am happy for you you got the chance to go to the game with such awesome seats and seat "neighbors, too. You deserved it. :cheer2:

Sheila, I agree with you on the BWI deluxe room - it's one resort I've still wanted to try for forever!!! :) I can either deluxe room/ regular dine plan and club level like usual..... Or I can do DVC at Kudani in a 1 bdrm with deluxe dining. I think we'd get more enjoyment out of club level, the lounge and the boardwalk view. I do want to try some signature restaurants - but when I think of it, I'm ok with maybe one signature at Yachtmans (ALWAYS wanted to try it!)
I am with you all the way. Club and DDP sounds just right and BWI Deluxe is my idea of dreamy too!::MinnieMo.

Hello again RC friends! We had a great time with Deena last night. She met us here at the Poly and we had a snack in the lounge. Chef Eugene, who has become a great friend over the years, brought us 2 plates of ribs from the kitchen and they were DELISH!
Dani, so cool that you got to meet miss LuvLuvLuv. Chef Eugene rocks... :cool1: ...his ribs sound scrumdillyiscious!!!! Hang in there with Danimal. pirate: Hopefully yours and his day today may have been the day to make you forget the rest.

Been lurking as usual. Had an awesome time at the NKOTB concert (as usual). And....after 25+ years of waiting, I finally met Donnie Wahlberg!!! = Ah-MAZING!!!! Very funny and convoluted story goes with this, and let's just say...in my moment, I was not very smooth at all....but I got a nice hug and a little conversation...he also commented me on my upper assets
It was quite a night!!! In changing news...BFF and I added two days to our F&W trip. Now instead of 3 nights/4 days, we are 5 nights/6 days!!!:hyper:
Glad Mr Walhberg got to met your ta-tas... and you, too! :rotfl: It's kinda cute you weren't so smooooth. :cutie:

Hi everyone!

Miss: So excited for you all, she is going to be so excited!! Can't wait to hear how it all goes! And hoping she gets better soon.

Dani: So glad you booked the BB, even though it sounds like you are having some bumps, it sounds like a magical stay at the Poly!!:goodvibes

Magic: thanks, I did phone the tax 'people' and they said things should be resolved within 2 weeks or so. Just annoying.

Melissa: Hope your school parties go well!

Candace: Poly sounds great for you guys next year! Go for it! Hope that military discount comes out for you.pixiedust: NKOTB...:lovestruc

Wookie: So sorry about your leg pain, sounds awful!

Pas: The FW cabins sound great! What a nice change for you guys!:)

Well, after more and more thought, Boston may just be DH and I. We like the thought of adult time, strolling around, taking in the sights, just some time together. The DD's would be nicely spoiled here by my parents, and we wouldn't be yelling at them in the car!:rotfl: So, we'll see if this plan sticks! And I cannot bring myself to change from the BC yet for November.:rolleyes1 Even if we drop CL, it might be better. Sigh.....1st world problems. These are not even problems. I know this.

Hi to Ginny, Janet, Sheila, Kook, and everyone else! :cool2:

Jen

So DS ranked the resorts that he knows of and AKL was last on that list... :-/

Tops was CR...ummm...that deluxe room is long gone now and the only thing left with the discount is like TPV in the Tower I think...

Second was a pirate room at CBR...

3rd was BC where we stayed last year and 4th was AKL...

What to do...

Thanks. Right now I'm all about the Dayquil and the aloe (for the sunburn I got at the game). It makes it even harder to wipe your running nose when your face is sunburned.

Yeah it was bad. At one point the DH asked what he could do to make it better and I told him to chop my leg off.

I don't know if it's excitement about the last day of school but Miss M has been non .... stop motormouth. Went to be late last night because she couldn't sleep so she stayed up reading in bed. Yapped possibly without even taking a breath the entirety of this morning. It's either excitement or a growth spurt. Do 6 year olds get growth spurts? Her mind has been totally wired lately. Reminds me of when she would have growth spurts as a baby. Makes me sooooo glad we haven't told her about the trip. :thumbsup2 Funny coincidence, she opened a fortune cookie last night; the fortune read: "There are many unexpected & thrilling surprises in store for you!" :rolleyes1

Will check in later. Off to fill my cubes!

I feel lucky I was able to make all the switches, resorts and dining. I am very happy it all worked out. I was able to get the budget ok, and keep CL. :yay:

I've not been to Sarasota, but we make occasional trips to Ft Lauderdale. That's a crazy place, too. Anytime my father in law gives us driving instructions all I can hear is Morty saying, "Stay on Biscayne, don't get off Biscayne!" :lmao:

Well, if you want the AKL, just tell him he other choices were booked.

Wookie, that is exactly what I would have done when my kids were school aged. No muss no fuss.

The Meet n Greet committee announced the theme for the meet n greet ....

You girls are going to have fun! party: Thanks for posting Diva updates, I really enjoy hearing about the plans. :cool1:

And we've made the last change. (pinky swear...) I tend to divide up my trips (yes, you hear overplanning here...:lmao:). Since we're now at AKL, we'll use the pool there, love that place! When we move over to Epcot, I probably won't swim, so we made a little change from YC to BWI. I like the location better, quicker to Epcot, shopping. :cool1:
My fingers are crossed they will offer the Military Salute our last two days. Staying tuned to hear if we get lucky! popcorn::

I'm reasonably sure we're set. A few days of our trip overlap with free dining, so making more changes isn't a good idea. I had to work like crazy to get our reservations booked. Now I am waiting to hear what is on the agenda for the first weekend of F&W. Hoping there will be some fun events! :yay:

Always fun to catch up with the RC friends. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday! :grouphug:
