Our little thread of BIG Resort Changes~2013 Spring RC installment

Hi everyone! So, we arrived yesterday and were in our room by 11:40. We didn't get to the bus until 10:50 so I think we did pretty darn good on timing! The flight was good until we started descending...rapidly! I am very ca about the flight experience, and I don't panic over turbulence but it really felt like we were going to crash. We made it though, and hustled through the airport. Luckily the bus was already pretty full so we didn't have to wait to depart for the resorts. This time Poly was the first stop! That's a first for us. It's usually WL and CR first. They whisked us right to the Hawaii building, and the lovely CM said my room wasn't ready but since I had the two little ones he found us a room that was. Only problem is we are the last room and basically staying in Tokelau

Daniel had a very bad day yesterday. I wanted to just kill him. We napped and then went to MK after dinner because they extended the hours to midnight last night. We ended up doing Buzz Lightyear, Monsters Inc, Space Mountain (not me or Lily lol), Little Mermaid, and Mickey's Philharmagic.

Today we slept in and ordered room service, and then we went to the pool. I had to wrestle Lily to get her back to the room lol she's a little fish! Now she's napping so we can head to the Studios tonight.

Phew. Got those vouchers just in time. I thought they normally made the announcement on a Friday for a Monday increase. Hardly much warning with this one!

I think they usually announce on Friday for price increase on Sun, but I remember scrambling on a Saturday last year to get our AP's as well, especially since not only was there a price increase but no more children's pricing either...EEK!!!

I'm still kicking myself over that one. (We hemmed and hawed until the price increase and then they got rid of the AP child price. Then here we are a year later buying them anyway. Dur. )

Only problem with buying to beat price increases, I don't need to use my tickets until 2015 and I think the tickets expire? Also, I usually book as a package deal - room and tickets, so I guess I'll have to suck up the price increase!
Hoping its not too horrendous.

Glad to see Dani's pics and that she's having a great time at the beautiful Poly

I've come to terms with cancelling my Diva trip, and am actually relieved to have more time to save, and am excited to be going to WDW one more time with my DS Andrew before he flies the nest! Grad Trip Jan/Feb 2015 should be fun - he wants approx 6 days Disney, 3 days Universal, and a first for us - 1 day Busch Gardens!
Resort Runnings are: 1 Bdrm at Kidani
Or BWI Deluxe Club room.
Not quite sure which one will fit our needs best this trip (Me, DH, Andrew and his GF) - lots of time to decide though!
Cancelling DL was hard, but I've got a big prize to look forward to with our future WDW trip. Diva DL will definitely be in my future though

Are they just regular tickets you've got, Marie? You should be fine with them. I don't believe they've got an expiration -- just the standard 14 days from first use (through the turnstile) for regular MYW tickets (unless you've got the "No Expire" option then the "14 Day Rule" doesn't apply either). At least I think so.

You have to do what feels right for you. DL will still be there one day for you.
Trust me, we are having vacation angst over here too. Boston in July, well DH wanted just him and I, but I do want to bring the kids as it would be good for them to experience a trip like that.
Then DH says he really wants an 'us' trip for WDW, looking at the last weekend in August again. This is all great but we won't be able to keep BC for November. I will wait for now but depending on what other discounts (AP hopefully) come out, we may be switching again. I really want the BC again though, and DD8 cannot stop talking about it there, she draws it, writes about it, talks about it. SHe told me mom this was the best vacation of her life.

THen I said drop the cruise until next year but now DH really wants the cruise.
Oh and just found out Canada Revenue is scrutinizing my tax return. It was taking forever so I phoned and then said it has been pulled.

Great.

Haven't bought yet - I was tempted with the price increase, but I think I'll just wait as it's usually not a huge increase, and I need time to save the approx $1200 4 tickets will most likely cost!

Ps....Jenny, so sorry about the tax audit! CRA sucks sometimes, and I owe a whopping 3K still this year! I hope they don't come bugging us! Hoping things turn out well and you don't end up owing!

We planned our Disney trip so long ago and booked POFQ on a suggestion from a co-worker.

To surprise my DH I changed to WL - he happened to look at the Disney Boards and while he loved the look of the WL - did not want to spend the $2K extra.

We looked at quite a few videos on All Ears and decided we liked POR better.

Then I read reviews saying that Coronado Springs had a more "adult" like feel and switched there.

Now to save money and because of the reviews have switched back to POFQ.

This will save us $900 since we switched from business class. We were going to rent a car because of the size of the resort and we don't think we will any more so that is another $400.

This will be our final change. Is this abnormal?

Aw, heck... who wants to be normal any way? It's the abnormal ones that are more fun.

Well I got a reward for my stressful week today. My brother texted me last night and asked if anyone in my bunch wanted to go see a Texas Rangers game. My sister had given him two tickets and he needed someone to go with. Even though my throat felt like I shaved a cat and swallowed all of it's hair and hurt, I wanted to go. OMG, the seat were....OMG!!!! I was on the 3rd row up from the Rangers dugout!! I was about 5 to 6 rows up from President Bush, his wife Laura, Nolan Ryan and his wife. These were the best seats I have ever ever been in. When I couldn't get a good picture of Laura Bush, my mom suggested (through a text) that I yell "FIRE" really loud to see if she would turn around. I decided against that option since I could see at least 2 secret service men. Well I'm taking my sun burn self to bed (as soon as I deal with my Farville 2 farm). I even got sunburned on my forehead......and I was wearing a baseball hat. I guess I'm just talented like that.

Well I got a reward for my stressful week today. My brother texted me last night and asked if anyone in my bunch wanted to go see a Texas Rangers game. My sister had given him two tickets and he needed someone to go with. Even though my throat felt like I shaved a cat and swallowed all of it's hair and hurt, I wanted to go. OMG, the seat were....OMG!!!! I was on the 3rd row up from the Rangers dugout!! I was about 5 to 6 rows up from President Bush, his wife Laura, Nolan Ryan and his wife. These were the best seats I have ever ever been in. When I couldn't get a good picture of Laura Bush, my mom suggested (through a text) that I yell "FIRE" really loud to see if she would turn around. It really was. If I understood my sister right, he let's people at work use them all the time. She said that a lot of the time they go unused. My brother and I were both like, "well we'll take them". I'm hoping I can get both tickets sometime. My fil would love to go and the DH would as well. I'm just worried about the DH being comfortable in the seats.

I didn't even think of putting sunblock on. It was supposed to have rained, and it did. Before the game started (just before the cow milking, egg tossing contest it did rain pretty hard there for a few minutes. I guess the sun came out just enough to burn me. I didn't realize I was sunburned until my sister pointed it out.

I just didn't think the secret service men would have that it was as funny. They were unhappy enough when a player accidentally let his bat go flying into the crowd and landed several people down from us. That meant it had to have gone flying pretty close to the president's head.

oh and our trip countdown is in the double digits!! WOOOT WOOOT!!! We are 96 days from starting our drive to WDW and 98 days from checking into the AKL for the first time!!

Sheila, I agree with you on the BWI deluxe room - it's one resort I've still wanted to try for forever!!! I can either deluxe room/ regular dine plan and club level like usual..... Or I can do DVC at Kudani in a 1 bdrm with deluxe dining. However having just gone through a 12 day trip (virtually!) with my cousin on the deluxe plan, I am leaning towards what I know and love -- club level and regular ddp at a deluxe (BWI).....
That deluxe ddp was alot of food, and I think we'd get more enjoyment out of club level, the lounge and the boardwalk view .

I do want to try some signature restaurants - but when I think of it, I'm ok with maybe one signature at yachtmans (ALWAYS wanted to try it!) -
On our arrival night and trying to work around the regular ddp as I usually do. There's alot of good 1 TS places I love/ or would like to try like Saana, BE Our Guest, Rose and Crown I am guessing I could make it work without upgrading to the deluxe DDP...
I hope I can get free dining again - I've always gotten that discount and love it!
