Our little thread of BIG Resort Changes~2013 Spring RC installment

Poly's access to Epcot is better than the Epcot resorts' access to MK. And so much better than CR's access to Epcot.

lovesdumbo I am hopeing using the Monorail will not be trouble since I use an ECV. BWI is very ECV friendly whether you choose to walk to the parks or boat. Busing to MK is not bad either since BW is first stop

Sheila: Thanks, that all makes sense. I am hoping the whole pool situation is not too crazy for us. All our girls can swim but will still be a going concern I am sure. Funny, this morning I was looking at a one bedroom OKW villa too! Those look lovely, but the buses sound horrible. And DH would just want to go golfing if we were there!! But so much space for the kiddos would be nice. :confused3

We stayed at OKW prime SB time in 2009 and found the OKW buses to be the best we ever used. Maybe it all depends where you are located within the resort? We were in the HH area and equal distance between two stops. We never had a crowded bus and found them to be very timely but we ride on off times maybe?

I was surprised at how nice and roomy and bright the 1 bedroom villas looked. :goodvibes

Hi friends! Love our new home! Going to go back and read everything but I need to share some great news!

Last night we booked a BWV studio for four nights in October!!! Actually we booked 3 studios. Our two best couple friends are going too - no kids! So very excited!!!

I can't find a Boardwalk thread. Is there one?

Congrats...that sounds like so much fun!

DH is golfing at Disney for the first time in April. I got him a tee time at Magnolia. If your DH is a golfer...there are amazing AP discounts. 30% off green fees, free balls, free club rentals...and by staying CL, you can get complimentary cab ride to course!!! We were excited to find this all out....well, he was excited...:rolleyes1
I was thinking of sending DH & DS golfing at Oak Trail as it available with our PAPs. If I read things right the clubs are free for my DS so they'd just have to pay DH's clubs and maybe a pull cart. I think they'll enjoy it.

The monorail looks easier to use with ECV than bus. Can you "drive" over to TTC on your ECV for direct Epcot monorail? Poly really is beautiful. My last few trips have been to BWI so I do understand that love but the Poly is really special too!

Happy Friday and Happy March!

I made the decision yesterday to cancel spring break later today and it's all good (as Jeanette famously proclaims). It wasn't a monetary decision so I don't want anyone to feel sorry for us - that's not my intention. The decision was based primarily on too much stress from sequestration looming. We would have been returning home one day before the furloughing is tentatively due to start. There's no way that wouldn't have been on our minds during vacation. When I told DD and DH at dinner, DH smiled and was actually relieved and happy and DD said, "I'm fine with that, I know we'll be going back." I knew she didn't want to miss 2 days of school so she was relieved, too.

I love a bargain, so I have to admit that the additional overcharge at spring break does bother me. The rooms end up about 40% higher during holidays and that never settles well with me. We also can't stay as long at spring break, so perhaps our annual summer trip will work perfectly and hopefully there will be less uncertainty in the US then - or maybe a lot more!:scratchin I was excited about the FWC stay and using those APs up to the last possible day, but we did get over 30 days of use out of them and this change of plans may mean that great BLT one bedroom will be available then;)

trip.
Sounds like you have thought this out! I have been pricing spring break for months and finally gave up. I just couldn't see paying the increased rates to deal with the crowds. I actually could have gotten the spring discount but airfare is over the top ridiculous!

KOok: This RCer may be making a cancellation too, :guilty:the cruise. It just seems like a big chunk of change for only three night. Don't cringe, but after transportation is added, and not even adding in excursions or onboard drinks....it will be around $3100. The financially responsible me says it will be better to save up and possibly do a longer cruise another year to get more value out of it. We will just be unpacking, and then having to pack up.

Don't know.

Ugh...even though we committed to POR / cruise for November, I still feel like this may be the right thing to do. But we will still be at Disney!! I feel like I need to back away from the Dis to sort this all out!!
:
Jenny - I really really want to take the family on a cruise but I want to do the 7 day. The prices are insane. I don't really want to do the three day because like you, when pricing out it seems crazy! Someday.......

Jen, part of my not being able to catch up here is my heart wasn't in it. I want to go to WDW, heck I want to stay at Poly...my wallet says not now...but all in all, trip or no trip, my family and all their love and support is here.....2013 is turning to be a very uncertain year for us as well..one awesome RC quality is to modify plans...in all aspects of life. We're here for you Jen...as often as you need us
You are going to have a great time with hubby! So glad you decided not to give up your reign! But when you need to step down its perfectly ok as long as you keep visiting. I struggle staying caught up because life gets in the way. I love quiet Sunday mornings for catching up! (Although I really need to go get ready for church lol)

So Bob asked me when we are going to book (itching to spend his Tax Refund) we discussed dates again and kinda decided on late October but JB has not released fares past 10/26 yet and the dates I did check Oct 20-26 were a little higher than what I want to spend. I have a feeling I will be buying our Air then booking just like I did last November. Best thing about retirement is we can go whenever we want now.
We just booked October too! Need to start airfare shopping!

Hey girls. I just wanted to drop a quick line to let you know I'm dropping off the DIS for awhile to take care of some personal stuff. Nothing too major, just stuff that needs to be dealt with without distraction.

Love and hugs to all. Will be back as soon as I can :grouphug:
Big hugs! Hope all is well! Will be thinking about you!

Just got back from seeing DD8 perform in a production of The Muppets :cool1:

Now, my reward for a hard weeks work....(note the bottle topper)
Love it - please post muppet pics!

Help me step away from the computer!! Now I have priced out POR for this trip, would be $1400 cheaper that BC CL!!! All this because DD8 said at bedtime that she dreams to have Mickey Waffles again, which BC CL will not have.

$1400 could buy a lot of waffles...and drinks!!:lmao:

But it cannot buy the memories of staying at the BC right???
We really loved BC. What if you look at dropping CL? How much would that save?

Do you know if the discount applies to your whole foursome even if only one is an AP holder? One of our friends has an AP and last night there was a discussion about whether or not to bring clubs.

we enjoy staying @ BCV with or without kids in tow. If just DH & I we make plans to hit SAB in the am at least one day and nearly always have the pool almost to ourselves until early afternoon:). There's also the quiet pool everybody can utilize. so nice to be able to walk back easily from epcot. We've had units where you can see the epcot 'ball' and others with FW view over the foilage.

own @ BWV, we enjoy the scary clown pool;) and prices for standardar views usually lower than BC and easier to book, but BCV would be our 1st choice.

I'm not sure about the club rentals but I do believe that the rate can be extended to others. DH is golfing with our friend (who is not an AP holder) but he can get the AP rate. He is bringing his own clubs however. I'll be glad to report back once DH has done it to give a little more insight as to what is included. :goodvibes

Happy Sunday! :flower3:

Sheila, Please book the Poly (I want to add you to the list :) don't overthink the Poly! It will be wonderful for you both!

Ginny, what are your YC dates again?? late sept to early Oct?

Christine, wherever you stay with Sophia will be wonderful!

Jen and Sheila, we enjoyed our one stay at OKW...we were lucky with our 2 br upgrade.. fabulous.. when we did used the buses we found them to be very good... love the feature pool too...

MouseMommy, congrats to DD on the play and to her highly successful fart shoes!! :thumbsup2 And congratus on booking the dessert party! :cool1:

Jen, don't know if any decision was made on BC or POR, but whatever you choose will be wonderful... time with your family is priceless

Unrelated Disney note...I made a brilliant decision at the carnival at my DS school today and let DD go down the big inflatable slide with her brother...we just got back home from the ER a half an hour ago...tibial fracture in her right leg and now she has this full leg splint....HRH will NOT be happy tomorrow when she wakes up!!

Koh1977, so sorry, don't be beat yourself up about it - it could of happened anywhere....Hope it's not too rough on her today..

Hi all!:wave2: Got room for one more?

Always!! And :welcome: again... we "met" on the POP thread! :hippie:

Cute Mickey bottle topper! Have you seen the new Haunted Mansion bottle topper? Not exactly cute but so cool.

ooohhh how goulish :thumbsup2 and very cool :cool1:

Other than our meal at California Grill, some of my favorite memories from our last trip happened in the minivan when it was just the four of us being goofy or dancing in the car to the blasting music on the radio.

Wookie, so true, its our families being with us that is what so important! (when I read your post, an image of Wayne's World came to mind )

I hope you are able to make it work. I would love to take a trip to Boston. At first, I was really sad about the thought of not getting back to WDW for a while. Then I realized I was looking at it all wrong. It's not about missing WDW, it's about finally getting around to seeing a lot of other places we have missed seeing since I always want to go to WDW. The only problem is that list is really, really long.

Wookie, another good way to look at it! We have many places we would like to visit as well. :goodvibes

What's wrong with your people? Can't you make your minds' up?
:lmao:
me 'neither, nice to see there are others out there:thumbsup2

:welcome: keishashadow we have a lot of fun here RCing, talking about RCing with everything else thrown in!! :goodvibes

JanetB- looking forward to you taking the reigns and remember I really never change either. Please add me, June 25-July 5 GF

Cynthia

:wave2: Cynthia, you and I are kindred spirits...we rarely change ...except the mental ones..:). And Pas changed her mind (unbelievable really :rotfl2:) and retained the throne ..(much to my happiness!). So it's the lady-in-waiting role that suits me. :thumbsup2

Hi friends! Love our new home! Going to go back and read everything but I need to share some great news!

Thanks Janet! We are so excited! Oct 4-8. I'd really prefer a regular room but we got a great discount on the studio!

I just read that for the golf, the ap discount applies to the passholder and three guests- basically a foursome. ( my19 yr old is the passholder so was looking for my DH and ds15)

My RCer Family  's to you all! Thanks for all the love and support, it means the world to me. I am sorry it took awhile for me to update, DH just got discharged yesterday, we are at home now and I had a minute to myself so had to drop by and let you all know I'm thinking of you and very grateful for your kind words and all the support. DH is alive, thank God -- about 6 shots where fired in the kuffuffle, and the inmates ended up escaping with DH's and his partners fire arms -- they where from a notorious gang and murder wouldn't have fazed them, so I am so thankful DH only lost a finger/ and perhaps 2 fingers (if surgery doesn't take) but he and his partner still have their lives.

DH had his fourth finger, right hand amputated on Tue night. On Thur they did surgery and moved his pinky over into the 4th finger spot, did a bone graft on the shattered pinky and pinned it. We have to wait 6 weeks to see if the bone graft takes and his pinky is savable. If so, it will require a few more surgeries. If it doesn't take, it will mean a other amputation. It's given a 50/50 chance.
DH is positive and determined to just get on with the healing. He has about 6 months of workers comp/ healing to do I believe.
DH is is so much pain (phantom pain they call it) from where the limb used to be. I feel so bad because there's not much you can do for phantom pain and it can last quite a long time. He's a trooper though and I am so thankful he's still here to share life with me. Thank you all for the positive thoughts, the prayers, the love and support. I love you all  Marie
Ps....the cons where caught, so I hope they go away for a long, long time!!!
