Our little thread of BIG Resort Changes~2013 Spring RC installment

Hello!!!

Another successful day at WDW. We did Epcot this morning, and DHS at night. (Had a nice nap in the middle). Lunch was at Via Napoli and again, it was absolutely fantastic!! :goodvibes

We did not do a TS for dinner. We have LOVED not being on the DDP and just using TiW instead...so much better for our family and how we eat!!! And none of that awful bloating!!! :scared:

Tomorrow morning, we have ressies at Tusker House for breakfast. It will be our first time. We have not been fans of the breakfast buffets so hoping this will be a little different...the girls just want to see Daisy Duck...

Oh, and I was in fact upgraded to LV!!! I logged onto MDE today and it showed us in a Club Level Lagoon/Pool view room. Yay for pixie dust!!! pixiedust:

Every ride has been a walk on, including TSM tonight!!! We went on ToT 3 x in a row with no wait!!! :cool1:

Seriously having the greatest time! Missing my kitty though :worried:....I know that sounds silly...I just feel bad for leaving him for so long....(my DFIL is going in and feeding him and changing his litter box...)

Well, that's it for now!!! :wave2:

It sounds like y'all are having a great time.

Wookie I'd try YC CL! It's kind of exciting trying new resorts. And you wouldn't get that solid balcony!

I would love to try CL, but the DH won't spring for it this trip. When I suggested it he said, "maybe we'll get sprinkled with this pixie dust you talk about. If we pay for it, how can they give it to us for free?" Oh well, I'll just save CL for the uber trip he's going to give me for a graduation present.

I got my tooth pulled today. My dentist may be the sexiest man alive, by the way! So he gave me a shot, let it sit for 10 minutes. Came in and topped it off and tried to start. No go. So he gave me ANOTHER shot and I saw stars! He gave me another few minutes to numb up and then he came back. It was over in less than 5 minutes, no joke. They all joked that I wouldn't feel anything for weeks. Well, 10 minutes after I left I was suddenly in excruciating pain despite the novocaine. It was so bad that I put a blanket over me on the couch and started crying hysterically. My mom called the dentist because she didn't know what to do and they said that because the infection is so bad, when he pulled the tooth the infection ruptured and it would spread before dying off. FABULOUS! I took 3 Vicodin and they barely took the edge off. :sad2: I am still in pain but feeling a little better. Hopefully getting a good night of rest.

I hope the pain is better today and that it doesn't come back like that again.

*squeal* DH ok'd the switch from CR to AKL!! And adding one more night!! Am I completely crazy?? I just want a bit more of a relaxed vacation this time around...

:-)

So, we'll be there 8/2-8/9 AKL Jambo PV

Grats, and your not crazy.

Chilly and overcast day here in Connecticut, I feel a very lazy day is ahead for me. Have a good one my fellow RCers!

Sound like our weather for today. It's like 66 F right now, and it's really dark and cloudy outside, and looks like it could start pouring rain at any moment.

Well today is d-day ladies. I take my final exam in C# and then I'm done for this week and next for school. I still need to finish a lab today, but this weather has me wanting to go back to bed. If JM's bus gets here fairly quickly, I may lay down until 10.

Big hello to all!!!!
Can't wait to hear if iheart got another dose of pixie dust!
Candace~Glad you and the family are enjoying WDW!!
Sis~feel better soon!!
Kook~ Nice to see you plotting...I mean planning, I think CR/YC would be a greatsplit...however I feel it may be WL/CR in the end...or BLT may open up
Jen~Beautiful pic from your DDs bday dinner!
Miss E~Hang in there girlfriend!!
Koh~yay for AKL
Sheila~NO CHANGING POLY!!!

As fo me~I made a change...I know shocking,

2 nights at Melbourne Beach..4 nights Swan ( I know I know..they combined the nurse discount with this great connect rate for the 2 rooms I am paying less than a Standard Poly room with 35% off) I am thinking...location, location, with EMH at offsite price, then 5 nights Portofino suite. And we are back to the end of August

I am off school til Monday, I am catching up on life today. I was awake andworking for 48 hours this weekend...I actually fell asleep dropping the girls off at shool (the car was parked) but I really scared myself.

Miss you all!!

We miss you, too:grouphug:. How are you and the prince and princesses?

:mic:Stop the madness and go take a nap NOW! You're scaring us falling asleep in the car:guilty::sad2:

I love your Swan deal, this sounds perfect and I would love to know what you think of the resort. Their rates and deals are so appealing at peak times, like Christmas, but they sell out so fast then. Please keep this so we can all know how you think it compares to staying onsite.

DH would LOVE the CR/BLT split - this might be the first split of its kind:confused3. I thought at first he was off his WL rocker, but then I thought more about it and it does sound perfect - CL then over the bridge to a king bed, washer/dryer and whirlpool tub:lovestruc - if only it were available...

Going to try to catch up before I head out the door. I got some much needed sleep last night after blowing up at DH while I was trying to make dinner and stormed upstairs and feel asleep by 7:30p  Of course I got up to say good night to the kids and then tossed and turned a bit, but was probably sound asleep by 9:15pm or so until my alarm went off at 5:30am this morning. DH and I both apologized and all is good :goodvibes Oh and Andrew even did all the dinner dishes including pots and pans so I came down to a cleaned up kitchen :yay:

Jeanette - YOU NEED TO SLEEP :cloud9: I am worried about you :worried: But your new plan sounds great! I am always skeptical about the Swolphin and the extra charges, so I will be interested to hear how it goes (if you keep it :rolleyes1)

Wookie - good luck with your exam today!! Enjoy the next couple weeks with no school!!!

Koh - congrats on the change...now leave DH alone :lmao:

Shelia - how did the morning routine go? Jet Blue have anything good today :confused3

Cynthia - I'll send some warmth and sunshine your way, we have too much of it already :beach:

KOOK -as others have said, I like the YC/CR split the best, however I just don't see that happening with you. So now that you mention a BLT split, have you called to see if any of your dates are available at BLT? I know the book fast, but it is always worth checking. I am soooo looking forward to the hot tub after a long day in trekking through the parks :)

Jen - congrats on getting day shifts. I am sure you will figure out what to do for the summer when the time comes. Hope you and the girls have a great day :flower3:

Dani - OUCH, OUCH, OUCH :scared: I really hope today is a better day and the pain is subsiding. The whole thing just sounds horrible :sad1:

MAGIC - oohhh a trip with friends might be just what the dr ordered for you :thumbsup2

Candace - sounds like a great trip so far!!! I saw your FB post this morning about getting up early and chuckled :goodvibes Hope breakfast did not disappoint and was worth getting up for!

SueM - I totally agree with you, we do room only and TiW, definitely the way to go :thumbsup2

Marie - :wave2: and  my friend! Sending you lots of good wishes and happiness :goodvibes

Not sure who else I am missing, so a BIG HELLO :wave2: to everyone!!!!

:grouphug:
Melissa

Good morning to all. :grouphug: This is my Cleaning Procrastination Post™.

Janet: I hope you had a nice No Cook night last night. Those are the best. :thumbsup2

If they get too bad, you can always crush up some pill in their food that will knock them out.

:scratchin This is brilliantly evil ... and I love it. :rotfl:

I agree Linda! ThAt would be AMAZING! I'm looking forward to meeting both you and Christine! :-) the more I think about it, the more I'm determined to make it without my DS this time -- all girls trip is just what I need! Besides, I'm bringing that boy and his GF to WDW in jan/feb 2015 -- he can just wait the extra yr! :p

Absolutely, positively keep it as a girl's only trip! You need it! :cheer2:

Miss I've not tried Artist Point, but it gets rav reviews. We like Narccoosses ( lobster :goodvibes) and timing it for Wishes would be special. In January we tried Jiko, and really enjoyed that too.

Thanks for these recs. I'll add them to my "Yikes, What am I going to book?!" list. We've got an anniversary to celebrate on the day we fly in and his 40th 3 days later. :crazy2: You'd think we woulda spread 'em out.

*squeal* DH ok'd the switch from CR to AKL!! And adding one more night!! Am I completely crazy?? I just want a bit more of a relaxed vacation this time around...

This new plan sounds GREAT! ... you'll suss out the ADRs, no problemo. More fun switching those around anyway.

Missoutandabout: Where did you buy your adult-sized "Time Out" chair? I need one for mom & dad. :rotfl: ...I think Artist's Point will be a very nice anniversary meal on your first night. :hyper: Please keep me posted as I have it on tap to add a little culture to our 2014 anniv trip to those wild and wacky Wilderness Cabins!

For comedic value, I should use one of Miss M's Time Out chairs. (Making sure I have a camera handy.) :thumbsup2 I think it will probably wind up being Artist's Point since there will probably be a mad rush to book CG once the ADRs open up; I've got this mental image of those crazy folks who camp out by the store front on Black Friday.

Miss: Good luck with your parents, there is nothing worse than family drama. I hope they shower Miss M with all the love she deserves.:flower3:

Thank you! And we got something in the mail yesterday. :yay: How much is the TiW at the moment, is it still $75? (Well, $100 with the $25 off or something.)

Thanks everyone. I am still very sore, but not as bad as yesterday. I took Advil, but I'm bringing Vicodin to work just in case. Thank you for all the well wishes.

I officially have flights for next month! It really feels really now!!!

YIKES! I hope the meds can keep up with the pain. Congrats on booking the flights. That's one of my favorite parts. I kinda feel like there's no going back once that happens. :thumbsup2

I need to get my butt in gear with my trip plans as we are going for the more relaxed stay this time around. Our first day will be a Poly day and then we plan on a Cabana for either one morning or afternoon, and only going to MK and EPcot. Fewer ADRs as we will be doing like SueM said putting the money we would have spent on the DP onto a Gift Card instead. Still up in the air about the Wishes Dessert Party but I am really thinking watching the Fireworks from the beach might be what we do instead.

Dessert Party or Fireworks from the beach: Now that's a lovely conundrum! :goodvibes

Now THIS is an interesting plan you've got... whether you keep it or not, well... we all know how that goes. I agree with Kook though, you need to test the waters so you can tell all of us. :joker: Please get some rest. We don't want our lovely Superwoman Pas to be falling asleep in the car again. :scared:

Melissa: It ate your quote. You came downstairs to a clean kitchen? I need to use this technique of yours... :thumbsup2  Glad you got some extra rest.

So after telling me to make the switch, DH says I need to figure out meals now, and he doesn't want to talk about it anymore. Hehehe. :-)

Juniors have ACT today and seniors have graduation practice/picture or something then free to go, SO I have an extra free period!! That means plenty of time to redo ADRs now that we've changed resorts. I don't want to have to change all of them, but a few probably need to move...

If we make an ADR at another monorail resort, would it be best to take the bus to MK then monorail to resort?

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
If we are going to GF or Poly, we prefer to take the resort boat over from MK, and if CR walk as the bus loop is close by.
Lots if great dining options at AKL. Love Boma, Jiko & Saana. We also enjoyed Mara, we had a couple of dinners there, if we did TS lunch. They have 2 or 3 dinner specials each night not on main menu, that changes every night, and are very good. I think they are from Boma. I enjoyed the salmon. The veg flat bread is very good to. Someone posted it was the same as the appie at Jiko.

:rotfl: sometimes we've added on a couple if beach days Pre wdw at either Cocoa Beach, or St Pete beach. Will be interested to hear about what you thought about Melbourne.
I always think about Swan/Dolphin because I can get the educators rate, but never tried it yet! The lure of BC/YC has been too great, lol. So I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences with both!
Hope you get the rest you need!

I've been pricing renting points as well...but no changes...oh my my...

I slept last night :) I also napped when we went to pick up a patient (long distance pick up)

HRH goes for a MRI for her migraines on Saturday, the final verdict on DS4's surgery is Monday. he's super congested from allergies so ahhhh we shall see if he needs the ear tubes and adenoids. I have a feeling yes...DMIL told me DHs brother needed tubes twice. I think BLT will open up (hopefully for the second part of a split for you guys!!!

After my quote, I realized I missed my dear friend Melissa...sorry. I have had nights fighting with DH like that..lately he sends me to go to bed. I'm good with that. I miss my babies so much working ...butthey managed to break the big screen TV. and our loveseat. I am excited to stay at Swan..but at the same time always looking. DH suggested I change to an all WDW trip if it saves money....I just might....plenty of time to ch-ch-change

Was thinking of trying Boma for breakfast for sure on our resort day. Maybe dinner one night? I like the buffets since DD isn't on the DxDP like the rest of us. But are there plenty of "normal" options for the kiddos?

Since we're right next door to AK, we could do an early dinner there and a quick ride or two before they close perhaps?

I had thought about doing a couple nights at Vero Beach before or after Disney until we decided to do a day at Sea World.

I am not interested in BC/YC, so that helps...Melbourne seems chill, and a suite for 120/nt beachfront..good deal. We usually do he West coast so DH is really interested in trying it out

Ok, so I think I have a revised plan...

BUT...3 questions...

Do we do Boma for dinner or go to DTD and Raglan Road on our AK day?

Do we do Chef Mickey's for dinner on our arrival day or do it for breakfast on our last full day? (Or do we leave that morning open for kids to decide what park they want to go to?)

Do we go to DTD on our resort day for dinner? Or to HS to Primetime and stay for EMH?

So many pages to read this morning! :rotfl2:

kook I'll be at AK LODGE .... does that count??? :confused3

Marie I had to laugh ... you love the AK bus ride!?!? :rotfl:

Kohl1977 Congrats on the change .... more days at Disney is always good! :thumbsup2 BTW keep asking all the questions on the AK Lite thread ... I'm learning a lot.

MM another magical day!!!!! :yay:

Sue M I go with my adult daughter too!! DH also stays home with the cats and dog! DD and I always plan lots of relaxing by the pool! :beach:

Dani hope you are feeling better. Congrats on booking your flights for next month ... you're correct somehow that always makes it feel more real! :cool1:

Shelia I've been thinking about wandering over to the Poly beach one night to watch the fireworks ... maybe after dinner at Kona. DD still wants to do the Dessert Party again so we will see. :rolleyes1

Wookie you'll ace the exam!!! :thumbsup2

Janet love it!!! When the DH is away .... no cooking! :yay:

Jeanette SLEEP!!!

Time to try to get some cleaning done .... boo!!!

Miss - how in the world did I forget you in my catch up :confused3 I am glad you were able to guilt your dad into coming for Miss M's bday :lmao: Now they just need to behave themselves so they dont ruin her bday. I think you have been given some great suggestions on here :thumbsup2 My parents are in the process of moving across the state, and are driving each other crazy. My mom keeps calling me saying she is going to stay on one coast and my dad can stay on the other :rotfl2:

Jeanette - did you really try to sneak in the fact that the kiddos broke the big screen tv and loveseat without SCREAMING it :crazy2: Good luck to HRH with her MRI, I hope they can find out what is triggering the migraines. I am one of the few who never did tubes for my kiddos, DH has a crazy thing with surgery, so we have always tried to stay away even though DS had recurring sinus infections and DD has recurring ear infections. Both probaby should have had them but my ped respected DH's choice and we somehow got them through it all and both have been infection free for a while. DS did do a couple years with Nasonex though to help with the nasal allergies.

Koh - unless you have a car or take a cab, I agree with Sue M that a bus to MK then boat, walk, monorail is the way to go. When we did our holiday decoration resort tour in December we used the MK as a base for transportation and it worked out perfect :thumbsup2

chowing down some very unhealthy, bad for me lunch before I go get the kids from school :rolleyes1

We don't eat at most of these places, but I will give it a try ;)

1. I would think that Boma would make sense on your AK day. No rushing, easy going day.

2. Chef Mickey would set the mood on the first night, however I think it may be a more fun way to end the trip. Will you have time to hit the MK after CM? Could be a perfect last day :thumbsup2

3. I would say DTD on your resort day, you will be relaxed and DTD and some good eats and good shopping would be a great way to end it. Maybe end the night with a sundae from Ghiradelli :goodvibes

That would have scared me as well. Get some rest!!

:scratchin This is brilliantly evil ... and I love it. :rotfl:

Thank you. I have thought of doing that on a daily basis with the fil.

Ok, so I think I have a revised plan...

BUT...3 questions...

Do we do Boma for dinner or go to DTD and Raglan Road on our AK day?

It depends, do you have any picky eaters and does your family have to get to DTD at least once every trip? For us, we don't have to go to DTD, but JM is such a picky eater that I don't think he would enjoy Boma. For us, I would do Ragland Road

Do we do Chef Mickey's for dinner on our arrival day or do it for breakfast on our last full day? (Or do we leave that morning open for kids to decide what park they want to go to?)

This is a tough one, if you don't do dinner at Chef Mickey's, where else would you do it that first night. For us, we love ending the trip with a Chef Mickey's breakfast.

Do we go to DTD on our resort day for dinner? Or to HS to Primetime and stay for EMH?

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

This one would also depend on a few things. How much does your family love HS? For us, we can do everything in half to 3/4 day (depending on line and if we watch Indy and the car stunt show both). We wouldn't need or want to go back for an additional EMH, so we would probably go to DTD. Which if you do that, would free up the other night to eat at Boma.

Wookie Good luck on the Exam!
[/QUOTE]

Wookie - good luck with your exam today!! Enjoy the next couple weeks with no school!!!

Melissa

Good luck to you! :teacher: :goodvibes

Thank y'all. Luckily we don't have to write a program, answer multiple choice, or essay questions. It's 4 "play the computers", which basically means the professor gives us 4 programs and we (without using the "compiler") have to show him what the output would be.

I know they say to "never go to bed angry", but sometimes (as stubborn as the DH and I both are) a little sleep can help him see how wrong he is. :lmao: I'm glad you were able to get some rest, and your DH did the dishes for you.

Yep, the sleep did me well, and DH follow suit and went to bed early last night to, so we were both in a better mood. Oh and don't fall out of your chair, but it wasn't DH that did the dishes but my 20 year old DS who did it without being asked by anyone. He knew I wasn't coming back down and DH was to angry to help me out so out of the goodness of his heart he did them. I guess I did something right ;)

DetTigsGal, jennyjinx3, sjs314: Yup. Like I said, I know I am in the minority as most folks I know love Via Napoli. For me it was more an ambiance turn-off. Maybe just a bad night. I seem to remember it possibly being the first night of Free Dining last August when we ate there. :scratchin Before entering, the disorganized nature of what seemed hundreds :crazy2: of walk-up ressies at the front door didn't work for me. Then we had about 45 min to wait for our table even WITH our ADRs. :confused3 Once seated, the noise level inside the restaurant was too loud. We had to yell to converse with one another. As for the food, I remember 4 of us ordering a jumbo pizza to split and a shared salad bowl, but I was neutral on the enjoyment level of the food. Maybe by the time our meals arrived I was just over the place. :upsidedow I do agree that our server was just adorable! I will try again some day and hopefully I will leave HAPPY. :)

disneydreamin247: I am Exit 82 ;) I will be there in 2 weeks. Having mom and dad's early 50th anniv party in North Jersey, Randolph, Rt 10. ... Hope you are feeling better. :flower3: .... Airfare makes it solid. :woohoo:

pas130: Melbourne sounds awesome, it is nice there. Great idea. :thumbsup2 .....As for Swan: I hope the big suite works great for your family. Does it have kitchen amenities? That would be great for you guys. The pools are nice. I liked the Swan coffee/croissant storefront in the lobby. And of course the Epcot resort location rocks. It worked perfectly for a very quickie Epcot centered stay for us. I personally would not stay there too many days in a row since no WDW theming makes this RCer cranky. ;)

A few things to keep in mind as I remember:
1.) Please check into if a reno has taken place at Swan recently. We stayed there 2 yrs ago August and the rooms were awfully dinged up then. My DH even mentioned the tired condition of the rooms and hallways.
2.) Paying to park is so nickel/dime and it adds up $$. So if you fly to FL, turn in your PASmobile at the Dolphin rental car location upon check-in.
3.) It just didn't feel WDW friendly that we all know and love, so be prepared for that. I still laugh when I think of those snooty 20-yr old Swan front desk girls. :rotfl: Hopefully they've been re-trained as more family-friendly customer service associates than as the "high-end" variety they fancied themselves. I had to remind them that this particular Westin resort has a big fish plunked on top of it. ::yes::
....Please take care of yourself burning those candles at both ends. :crowded: ...Best wishes for good outcomes for HRH and DS4. :)

jennyjinx: Congratulations on day shift. :cool1:

Koh1977: Enjoy rejiggering ADRs during your free period. :coffee: IMO, Boma dinner on Ak day. DtD on Resort day. As for Chef M either way works for me. :thumbsup2

letthewookiewin: Good luck on your C# exam. :) A WDW CL trip sounds like a awesome graduation gift. :dance3:

SueM - Our TiW card just expired, and we will reorder. We think it is best deal too. :)

Miss: MY DH and I are kinda the same as you guys: DHs bday is the 1st day of the month and two days later is our Anniversary. Hmmm... I sunconsciously planned it that way so he wouldn't forget our anniversary. ;) ...I'm glad your trademarked Cleaning Procrastination Post™ or I woulda stole it. It's priceless! :lmao:

The shirt I ordered for my October trip showed up yesterday;

That is a thing of beauty.

I am such an old-school Epcot logo junkie. I'm glad I got my hands on the faux-vintage 30th anniversary Norway shirt (and yes I know Norway wasn't open when Epcot first opened, but still, awesome).

But Disney stuff is so much more fun :goodvibes Where is the cleaning pixie dust when you need it pixiedust:

Yes but I think I need to keep moving so I don't fall asleep. I was up at 3 am to do the ADRs for the first part of our trip .... hate the west coast time!!! :rotfl2: I wouldn't have bothered but DD really wanted to do BOG again. I'd been doing some pretend reservations for the days leading up to my date and nothing was available so being the good mama that I am I set the alarm and was logged on when they opened!!! :thumbsup2
