Thanks for the welcome! Originally we were Disney bound in late May...but job issues led to July 5th thru the 12th. We will not be going to the parks this time, but rather just enjoy the resorts...especially the Poly (1st time!). We've always done value resorts, but this trip is a splurge for sure! Thank goodness my hubby loves Disney as much as I do! We are also doing the Luau! Is it awesome?? I hope so!

Taking a break from school work to pop in and say hell.

As usually things around here are crazy nuts. Some how, thanks to the fil's temper, my inlaws went from going to the lake house to my fil leaving on his own in anger to "finish off his bucket list", and my mil not knowing when or if he's coming back. I swear, if I could I would have that man committed, I would.

I hope everyone is having a wonderfully relaxing weekend. It's the first one of Summer break for us.

Always a madhouse? That will not go over big with Bob I did book 'Ohana at 5pm to avoid a long wait but I hope the busy lobby does not totally turn him off.

Hi. Good idea for you two getting there early so Bob isn't put off.
I agree the dining check situations of Kona, 'Ohaha and even SOA are all poor. It is my absolute LEAST favorite part of Poly. My stress level rises instantly when going to GCH at mealtime. No matter what they do it never seems to improve the "madhouse" feel.

We are getting ready to head out to NYC for the day...we are going to the Big Apple BBQ Block Party in Madison Square Park.... lots of BBQ, music, etc.! Should be a fun time.... love visiting the City. Hope everyone has a great day!

MAGIC I have Dinner planned at Kona's but it is later not at opening I hope it is not too bad of a wait. As of now we re not dong SOA so as long as breakfast at Kona's not a bad Expierence as well as dinner we should be ok. I did make an ADR T Kona for breakfast our last day, we usually do room service so if the other breakfast and dinner does not go smooth I will just cancel the sat day.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! It will take me a while to get to know you all...patience needed! I love Disney and can't believe it took me so long to find this forum. What a wealth of information! It certainly made choosing my trip resorts difficult, I want to live at the resorts! I have a question for all of you.....I did make a lunch reservation at Kona's the day we transfer from POR....is it really that crazy of a place? Should I just wing it? I am looking forward to the Luau and am wondering since we are going to the 8p.m. show, can we just stay after and wait for the fireworks? Is that feasible? Thanks!

I don't know about the length of the luau, but you can stay and watch the fireworks from the Poly beach, lots of people do that. It is lovely!

As far as the Kona lunch reservation, I am sure it will be fine. The upstairs at the Poly only gets a little cray cray around dinner hour when lots of people are checking in for dinner at 'Ohana (or trying to get walk ups). Even when it is busy, it is never too super crazy. We want to try Kona soon too!

Jenny - I know!! When we were there in 2010, and the sushi bar had just recently opened, they were using snack credits on the DxDP for a roll! Needless to say, we were stuffed before we got to dinner that night...

Kook - the coffee bar serves sushi for lunch (new) and dinner. You can order from the sushi bar menu when dining at Kona.

Requested Fiji Luau Cove side which will have to change in the event they start DVC construction while we are there. We also requested a patio room for first time ever, He did like the idea of walking out and access to the beach area.

CR would be his preferred of all the monorail resorts.

We were in Tokalau in the beach end of the building. Just walked out the back exit and on the beach. Had an upper floor balcony. One of the good things is all floors have balconies in that longhouse, except 1st floor patio of course.
