Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Honestly, I agree with Janet about talking to DH about a split-stay -- your trip is definitely long enough to make it less hassle, more fun! (anything under 6 days is hectic for a split IMO). I can only speak for the couple people I know who have stayed there (one friend did AoA suite, another LM room) and both said super cute but faaaaar. If you plan on late EMH, I would also vote for a close walk. I do like the idea of doing 3 night at LM room... if your princess is anything like mine was with POR Royal Room, the novelty will have worn off about that time... and for your DH (friend's DH was a little 'Under the Sea'-ed out by the time their trip was over ;) )

Disney makes split-stays super easy, too by moving your bags for you. We switched resorts on a non-park day - checked out, grabbed a small bag each with bathing suits, went to DtD for lunch, and then checked into YC. Our rooms were ready and we all changed into suits to hit SAB... by the time we got back, all our bags were there. :thumbsup2

This might work!!! :scratchin DH can stay with LO while DD6, DF, and I hit MK... then he can boat on over and join us when she's up and going. Plus, we won't have to accommodate the stroller in our viewing spot which will help a lot. MAHALO!!!

LOL, I blame DH... he loves twirling and tossing the girls and they love it! (LO already knows to anticipate 'falling' onto our bed when Daddy gets home. DH made me look like the worst mom ever first time DD6 rode ToT - she was TERRIFIED of the ambiance (as any 3 year old would be) but we both knew she'd love the ride), so we're standing in line with her hiding her eyes and sobbing during the video... the CMs kept asking if she was okay and she said "I just want to go up and downnnnnn". We get on the ride and she hides her eyes until we get to the top (DL ToT is a little different) and then *BOOM* hands up, squealing. We get off and she runs ahead "Let's do that again!" *shakes head* it's been all up and downhill from there.

We'll be happy anywhere on property (even SoG) but I want to try to scoop as many advantages as we can since it's Christmas. I love the atmosphere at the PO resorts, but I am hoping to stay at FQ for how small it is... with 4 rooms, I imagine a hard time getting all of them together at POR and I don't want to be limited to one category so we can spread the discount possibility. *FINGERS CROSSED*

~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~
MM, now you have me pricing out CL!!!! :scratchin EVIL!!!! :rotfl:
Question - is BB not a separate category for CL?
CL at WL is Standard View CL, but IPO tries hard to make guests happy. There is no way to guarantee BB unfortunately (or any bed configuration actually)
I also had a Wishes view from our Honeymoon room at WL. We could see GF and CR, it was cool! The bats freaked me out a bit, but it was all good:goodvibes
Nice!!! I like!!!
:hug:
I am SO surprised you moved back to GF, and no CL??? I do know its a significant deal, but I really expected BWI CL or WL CL :lmao:
They won't be in the deeper parts, I guess I just worry. The kids LOVED the pools at Universal, but I need not worry, they love every pool they have ever been it :goodvibes
CUTE!
:lmao:
The nice thing about Pop is you can "pop" over to AoA to check it out!! $300 difference is a lot when you are essentially talking the same size rooms, etc....:welcome: to our home! That said if your DD really wants LM room, I can't say I wouldn't keep it....;)
:welcome: THAT IS TOUGH! It is a decision I fought with as well. I was booked at Poly GV CL and magically upgraded to LV CL..after talking to a manager, I decided the construction would impact us greatly...so we did move to GF. Then the new rooms were revealed :sad1: I just couldn't! GF IS beautiful, and the pools are fabulous and don't ever feel crowded (that will change in August) IMO. If you'll mostly be swimming or at the parks I'd go with GF. You can see EWP from the beach, and Wishes near the dock. It really is elegant! Happy planning!!! And the good thing about changes is there are no limits (discounts do sell out though) :flower3:
:thumbsup2
:lmao: And as far as room views..higher floor North Wing....say 6....Kook knows best :cool2:
Did you book Sugarloaf???popcorn::
Did you not learn from me??:rotfl2:
You said you didn't like the décor, you are SO not done....:rolleyes: CR is next....
:goodvibes
:hug:
I think it's August now....
I like this idea!!!
Hope Melissa is enjoying her WDW trip !!!!
Hahahahaha!!! I am actually fine with the GF decor. I just think it's not really "themed" so to speak, but I really like it. But then again, I don't think the BC is super themed either, so.......
MM - kudos on a cheaper AP!!!!! :cheer2: Always a bonus!
High room, North Wing -- rog!
And I totally understand -- DD was born in Hawaii and has never had qualms about water which is both a blessing and a curse... I let her swim but am always watching in case she gets a little overzealous. :lmao:
You said you didn't like the décor, you are SO not done....:rolleyes: CR is next....
I concur!!! It's only a matter of tiiiiiiimmmmmmeeee :rolleyes1 popcorn:: ;)
Hmmm.... really need the third bed so maybe we save CL for a trip when the girls are older. Will def request a high room, though!!! :)
What are the favs here for Epcot Resorts? I see BC is unavailable for the last week in October for a lot of rooms...I wonder why? I thought we came for F&W that would be ultra convenient, but DD wants to stay at AKL and I'd be happy back at POR as would DH, but he's angling for the Poly. I'm sure there's a question in there somewhere! LOL:lmao:
It could be unavailable due to the refurb starting this summer and F&W
And now I have priced out a split stay.....UGH...INTERVENTION>>>NO CHANGES...thinking Aug. 25-29th....ahem WL :upsidedow or AoA :rotfl2:
We are official!! :goodvibes
I know my TA thinks I'm crazy! :rotfl:
Not only me, but she is having to move my BFF's reservation too, because we have to be together!!! :rotfl2:
BLEH! It's been a dreary 40 degree rainy day here and I've been handling similar news so I'm trying to lose myself in the mirth of Disney Dreaming... :cloud9:
...for some reason I am feeling unsettled about our Sept trip. I don't know what it is. I really like WL, but I think part of me wants a split-stay... but I can't figure out where.
I think my problem is every time I price out an option I feel guilty about spending more money for Sept with Dec on the horizon. DH has said money for Dec will be coming from the 'fund' we set aside for trips to his family for Christmas (they are in rural Rockies so $$$$ flights so we save up independent from vacation fund) but I just feel selfish upgrading our Sep trip. BLEH!!!
Why can't I just stay put??? I figure I get to hang with my RC family, then I can move...:confused3
Is this really a question on this thread??? :rotfl:
Hi Janet! As Popeye says, I am what I am. :lmao::rotfl:
So glad it's hump day! Idol day, too! :dance3:
:thumbsup2
Where are you wanting to split with?
That's my other issue...
I like the idea of CR TPV for a few nights (especially since we will be back in room to see fireworks Friday night). I really enjoyed YC when we stayed there and with a pool day and an 0800 Akerhaus, SAB would be nice. I like the pool at AKL and think it would be fun to do AKL first, then move to WL. Even considering doing CSR or CBR for a few nights then moving to WL - CL.
I think the issue is 7 nights at one resort feels like a lot for this RCer. I'm sure we'll enjoy wherever we are but I feel an itch to expand!!!
I love this post! You sound like me! We love split stays and think the time it takes to get our stuff to a new resort is entirely worth the transportation/location convenience that results. In other words, we do an MK resort and spend lots of time at MK (if it's a longer trip we do AK then too) then we transfer to an Epcot resort and spend our time at Epcot and DHS. Since I love Epcot so much, we usually end up going there throughout the trip, but fit in our California Grill/Artist Point/Narcoosees ADRs while we're in the MK area.
We're still sticking with Poly for our quick surprise trip at the end of this month and I don't want to change resorts, but I want to change SOMETHING! Upgraded to CL already, so that's set. Changed ADRs as a result of the CL upgrade. Then just today, decided to stay a little longer on departure day so the kids could get snacks in the lounge before the drive back to my parents' beach condo. Now what to change???
Jeanette - did you say bats?? At WL?? I couldn't remember which thread you posted that on...
I'm off on Spring Break, so older dd & I went to see it this afternoon! I was so surprised to see the old Mickey & Minnie cartoon short before movie!!
My TA priced out GF for 5 nights at $200 less than the WL CL deal...what to do...??
Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
DH told me to decide which I thought would be better...5 nights at GF (requesting Conch Key, marina view, upper floor) or 5 nights at WL CL (requesting bunk beds)...
I don't know which to choose!!!! HELP!! :-) I'd feel a bit bad about not going through our normal TA, but I don't want that to sway my decision...
Anybody want to weigh in?? :-)
Love WL, but we did a split last August, GF/YC, and my daughter didn't want to leave GF for YC ( the poor deprived thing) :rotfl: but we were surprised how much we loved GF!! I wish I had booked more nights there. And last Aug rate there was better!!!
Janet wasn't Mexico up for lunch consideration for Epcot? Now more reason to go eat there :rotfl::rotfl:
YES - exactly this! I feel like this trip CALLs for a split-stay!!! And I'm itching to do SoMeThInG!!! :hyper:
I think it was here a few pages back, but can say I am pretty sure WL will have bats as SoG has bats. They did a good job of trying to keep them away from the rooms but DH and I watched them fly over the golf courses one night.
The lodge we would go to for my family reunions in Kentucky had 'bat rooms' - you could only tell by residue v. actually seeing them (unless you would go out on the porch randomly in the middle of the night). Most of the time they would just hang out away from any occupied rooms - they are not fans of the populous!
Official ch-ch-ch-change!! WL CL 7/11-7/16!!! Can't wait!!! :-)
