Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Hi RCers: :wave: It is so good to "see" you all. I bounced around quickly here trying to catch up but I am hopeless behind. Life has been crazy here to say the least. Mom's been sick, and I've had a house full of company for 2 weeks now, including a 17-month old. :rolleyes1

It seems like forever ago already since our WDW trip back at the beginning of this month. :headache: I guess that means time to plan another WDW trip. :laughing: Here's my mini-review of our GF trip:

The weather was good and crowds were low and fine. Magic Bands worked perfectly this time in every way. :thumbsup2 DH was a good little race car driver and survived his Rookie Experience ride. Dining: Shula's was truly first rate, Tokyo Dining was awesome (thanks KOOK!) and a great Illuminations spot. We made a last minute switch away from CG to Narcoossee's. I liked it and am glad we went, especially the convenient GF location and Wishes, but I just wasn't wow-ed for the price paid. The first night we met my aunt and uncle offsite for dinner at Jr's, then went to POR to see "you-know-who" entertain.

Hey! I felt the same way about Narcoosee's. I left hoping for more. I wasn't wowed, glad I'm not the only one. Love YEEHAW, too!

Been thinking of GF, but usually stay at POR, maybe a split stay next time. DD loves the DP, I could go without it. Decisions, Decisions....

DD's favorite mod is CSR and I'm split between CSR and POR. I think I like CSR for the summer and POR for the winter. :confused3

*considers* I would imagine POR would be nice in spring. I like the look of the CSR pool but the foliage at POR would woo me in bloom!

Magic - :wave2: good to see you! Welcome back and LOOOVE your photo! Nice, serene view! Made me glance at rates for GF... just for a minute :rolleyes1

Kohl - I, personally, feel like CRT is just so expensive. We did CRT for DD and fam last trip but I'm set until LO is old enough to need the castle experience. Personally, I'd go Akerhaus and Liberty Tree that way you get your princess and a new experience! We did LT on a lark once and it was so nice! Really hoping we can hit it in December (if BoG FP+ doesn't transpire we may try to do LT in Sep).

Hey girls! :wave2:

Heading out tomorrow for the first half of our first drive to WDW. :scared1: By this time Saturday I hope to be relaxing in World Showcase drinking away the pain :hyper: :rolleyes1

Beach Club here we come! :banana::banana::banana:

Drive safe and say hello to Mickey for us! ENJOY BC!!! :cool1:

*sighs* So disheartening!!! DH and I want a nice, romantic meal in Sep and CG doesn't appeal to us, AP reminds DH of expensive 'home' food, so I had been hoping for Narcoosee's but the latest slew of reviews have been 'eh' and for that much, I don't want 'eh'. Honestly, considering sending DF and kiddos to WC and just having room service on the lanai at WL!!!

~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~
So much for split-stay EPCOT right now... with F&W moving up, we'd be trying to split with opening weekend. :scared1: Availability at discount is slim and I think the crowds would be a bummer. Told TA to keep an eye if she can and if we can get SV at YC I might jump on it... we shall see!
Debating - MM or 50's... MM has F! option but I'm thinking crowds in Sept won't mandate the package and I'm intrigued with 50's... hmmmmm
I actually booked just that! (Akershus for our Epcot dinner and LT for lunch on one of our MK days! The other day I think I'll try for a late BOG lunch before dessert party). As for MM or 50's, I had originally booked MM for F! Package, but I think we'll just try to hit the second show since we'll be there for EMH that night. :-) H&V is necessary for the kiddos... I keep wanting to try 50's, but I've used up all our TS credits. :-) And I'd rather only do 1 TS a day.
DH is sniffing around about CL again.....seriously, are we this hopeless??? The TA deal doesn't cover CL at the GF.....for the same price as what we are paying we could be at AKL CL......BUT, we can't!!! Our friends can't stay at AKL....family of five.....save me!!!!
GF garden view will be just fine.....at least we still get turndown service....
I just wanted to pop in and say hello :wave2: I have been so tired from work this week, that I haven't been up to coming to the DIS. We had two new babies start this week. One was 6 weeks old and the other I think about 2 1/2 months.
I just can't wait for the bank to release the funds from our tax return. As soon as that happens, I am booking our DL trip. I'm thinking about renting DVC points with it and then paying it back from my paycheck.
I always have big plans of saving money and doing a mod (or value this time around) or only going for a few nights or something...and then we end up deluxe...this time club level!
The first night we met my aunt and uncle offsite for dinner at Jr's, then went to POR to see "you-know-who" entertain.
At GF: we had a fifth floor room in convenient Bldg 9, Big Pine Key near both pools. Our view was of POLY GCH over to the GFV and the Chapel and GV pool. The best part was that no POLY construction was visible. :cool1: The pine trees two rooms over to our left blocked all that dreck. We did have a major snafu :eek: with a security issue with our room, but all turned out well in the end and nothing was taken from us. In my opinion, this interim old decor & furnishings paired with the newer white linens with blue runner is just positively ugly, dare I say the worst looking room interior on WDW property. :duck: :rotfl:. Thank goodness the outside of the resort and the hallways and public spaces are so pretty. Since we had no such luck on a newly rehabbed room, it just means more reason to go back again to GF, I say. We are already booked GF SL for the same time next spring as DH decided that GF overtakes POP as his new favorite resort. He's such a spazz with his resort likes! :lmao:
Here's a pic of our room view looking straight ahead:
Now time to fix my tickers... :wave2:
We loved GF last Aug, stayed in Boca right next to Big Pine. Very nice location close to everything. The beach pool was our fav :goodvibes
Now of course I'm looking at ADRs again...
I have CRT booked for lunch, but since we're on the DP, I might switch to dinner? I do really like the beef tenderloin and love the picture of Cinderella with the kids...BUT, maybe it'd be better to try Akershus for dinner this time around?? And catch any of the other princesses DD wants to see in the parks...? Figure we'll need to do 2 times through FairyTale Hall for Elsa and Anna and Rapunzel...? And maybe try and catch Tinkerbell and Jasmine elsewhere...? Akershus would probably be more cost efficient...and we HAVE done the castle many times before...
Hmm...
So then what to do with our other TS credit...? Yak and Yeti for lunch at AK? Tony's at MK? 1900 Park Fare dinner? Or try somewhere new like OHana for dinner? Or Liberty Tree tavern for lunch?
Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
O'Hana :thumbsup2. Love the food, and the kids will have fun doing the coconut races. Plus it's a good value for a TS credit. 1900 Dinner is fun too! Love the step sisters, hilarious.
:wave2: I'm just tired reading about your week!! Have fun DL planning!
Anybody been to Mickey's Backyard BBQ? Thought it might be fun for the kiddos. :-) They don't like the parades or anything that some of the restaurants do, but they do love dancing with the characters. :-)
:hug: Sorry to hear about your week but glad you are on the precipice of DL booking! We had so much fun there and part of me wants to get stationed in SoCal so we can go back. There is a magic at DL being the original and smaller that I think gets lost in the sheer size of WDW. The pace is so different - instead of the 'Dumbo or die' mentality people have at WDW it's more of 'how can we fill the time before World of Color?'. DH really enjoyed the literal park-hopping and the fact DtD is RIGHT THERE - we got a FP for Soarin' at CA, went to eat at DtD, came back and rode Soarin', then walked over to ride the Matterhorn at MK all in a 2 hour period. Don't get me wrong, love WDW but miss DL *sighs*:cloud9:
I have heard mixed things but the biggest complaint seems to be that you pay a lot for hotdogs and burgers. My friend swears by it - she has picky eaters and says the character interaction is fun - but I know the food is a big sticking point for some. Also, the seating issue at BBQ seems to be an issue - I guess it's first come v. set.
Others seem to swear by Hoop De Do... no characters but I've only heard good things! Another friend who went in November said it's on her 'Must Do' list now and while there are no characters the audience interaction was a blast!
I think I am finally happy with my ADR's....after soooo many changes.
Now, our "final" lineup is:
Via Napoli lunch
Ohana dinner
Narcoosee's dinner (date night)
Le Cellier dinner
Be Our Guest dinner
Trail's End dinner
feeling.....settled.....:cloud9:
I just need to figure out my request for a building at GF, though that Big Pine Key view from Magic looks nice. I just don't want the ugly pool house view...otherwise, I don't think I care.
Tryng to keep up with all of the changes. I'll admit - I'm totally confused :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
Apparently I need to go check Orbitz rates! We are booked 6 nights, 3 rooms SV at CBR at the AP rate. It's pretty good ($150 per night plus tax on average - Friday night is a bit higher). I put in our room requests yesterday.
This is my Spring Break trip. We are driving for the first time in years :scared1: Dh isn't going. Mom and I are going to drive 8-9 hours on Saturday and then stop for the night and drive in the next day (another 4-5). That should give us a decent start at the parks on Sunday.
My mom and Aunt keep saying - but we can't check in til 3. I keep telling them we don't need to check in! We have our tickets!
I'm having fun with FP+. I have four days done. Kids and I have APs but the rest of our travelling companions (9 in total) have only 5 day tix. Haven't figured out exactly how that will work yet.
OH - and I have NO ADRs. Can we say last minute??? :eek::rolleyes1 I need to get to it!
And now, I am ready to start looking at July. YES, I will get my money's worth out of these APs! :yay:
Did any of you AP holders order your magic band yet? Apparently it comes with a cool little slider denoting that you are an AP holder. I am excited to get something a little special!
The nice thing about GF is it's a compact resort so it's not a biggie getting around IMO :beach:
Hi Everyone!!
I have been MIA from this thread for a LONG time, haha. I'm back!! Hope everyone had been doing well!! My DH and I booked a cruise for later this year and were going to stay at the airport Hyatt the day before the cruise and take a cab to and from DTD. So then, I decided to check can rates. It would cost us $110 round trip for a cab. Add that to the room rate at Hyatt and we would save $49 by staying at POFQ. SO, of course we'll stay at Disney Resort!!!! Yay!! Well last night we got to talking about getting a one day ticket to Epcot instead of going to DTD.....even better!!! Now, it just dawned on me that we should stay at an Epcot resort....not sure if I can talk DH into that one, lol. ;)
