Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

So I actually priced out another night if we were to stay the night of the 4th too...but it's like $600 more! Which doesn't seem quite right, since it can't be that much for the dining plan and hotel, can it??

:scared1: no, that doesn't sound right at all :confused3

Maybe RO Woods View room instead...?

July 4 th right? Maybe is that holiday pricing? RO woods view would be nice! I hear the locations above the otter pond are nice in north wing, and you'd be just a hop from ferry dock and Roaring Forks.

We've only had Courtyard views, once of Villas courtyard, and 2 times of WL courtyard. I booked woods view last time but got upgraded! :upsidedow

I think it's the holiday rate which boosted it up a little. With the summer discount WL CL is 348 ish/nt. with taxes...on the 4th its over $400 so adding the DP would make it over 500 more...Krystal I would consider standard the first night and at 7am you can check in CL the next morning..hitting the lounge first thing :goodvibes

Pas - both excited and dreading mapping out Christmas. Hoping ILs `get` the cost drama and the newbies understand it`s mainly a touring trip. Did get the new Vacation DVD yesterday to assist in visuals!

Well, tweaked my Poly res today. Since my youngest daughter (24) is only with us our first day at Poly (history, we arrive in Florida on aug 7, will be in Ft Lauderdale area untill 17 th when we leave for Universal 3 nights, then Poly 14 nights) I switched us to CL just that one night to make it special for her. She has to return to work, and can't get a month off, lol.
Then me and older daughter will move to regular room at Poly. Hope for late CL check out!!
:thumbsup2 Maybe do a night at Sugarloaf before Poly? Just a thought:cloud9:

What a great idea! You are such a nice mama to make it special for your DD! See you at the pool! :beach:

Hmmmm. We did love GF last August! I actually had thoughts of a different resort the first day, YC too! But Katie has a 2pm DME pick up the next day, so I thought moving resorts would be a problem. At least staying at Poly, it would be pretty seamless. And if our new room is ready early we will already be there to move in. We planned on a resort/pool day her last day.

I am spending my first day of Spring Break watching videos of 4th of July fireworks. :-) (at MK and HS).

I think that although the fireworks are AMAZING for the 4th, it's not worth the almost $400 cost of the hotel room and dinner at 1900 so we can easily watch the fireworks after without venturing into the parks. We'll just have to watch them on the iPad instead. And we could just shift our days so we're not actually adding a night, and take it as our resort day, but what's the fun in that...? :-)

And I think DH might have a heart attack if I change things again... Lol

And yes, we could do a value for cheaper, but that would be more of a pain I think than if we were at least at the same resort (just changing rooms).

ETA: briefly thought about (and priced out) a split between WL CL and POR, but that might be too much changing since we also have hotel rooms for 1 night stays on either side of the trip...

Is it crazy that I'm wondering if I could sway DH with a split stay by telling him I could be a TA with a certain company if I've stayed at 4 resorts in the last 5 years (3 nights or more) and I will only have 3 under my belt after the July trip...hmmm... LOL!

Love this idea, Sue!!!!

*sighs* Disney TA... my dreeeeeeeaaaaaaam job!!!
I think if you can swing a split that allows you to add the day for a decent cost it would be doable. I didn't mind the split-stay -- but we planned it on a down day so that helped.

Went to see the cherry blossoms today and wandered around DC. I feel a bit spoiled that I can just GO to DC sometimes... makes me think that's how people in Orlando feel about WDW.

Trying to work out Christmas is proving very dicey. The costs are just so high and everyone seems to go back and forth a bit on what's 'worth' it. Would help so much if we had an idea of discounts NOW. In a way, I feel good knowing that SoG is our fallback -- not a bad second place, honestly. We shall see how it goes.

Met up with our DF who is going to WDW with us in Sept and she's getting excited. Makes me even more eager!!!

HAPPY PLANNING TO ALLLLLL!!!!

It would be 4 nights POR with the tickets and deluxe dining (to take care of all our more expensive TS meals) then 3 nights at WL CL (room only). It would be on our normal down day anyway, but I don't think DH would be too happy about all the moving... If it were just me or me and one of the kids, it'd be one thing, but with all 4 of us...and couple it with the 1 night stays on either end...*sigh* it was a nice thought while it lasted...

Have you ever changed your vacation around so many times that you can't even see straight anymore.....my goodness.....I'm there right now...

Started at Coronado springs.....then decided to use our vacation points at Saratoga Springs (the only one we could get for that many days in a row)....then had to cancel (long story).... Then made one for French Quarters for a later week (I decided the pool wasn't cool enough for me)..... Now we are back to Coronado Springs.....

Best things so far on all this.....season passes. :cool1:

If we have to cancel this again I might actually cry....

I'm trying to keep pixiedust: thoughts....

Yes we will! But it is more the ability for her to shower, change & get ready for flight home.

What happened to RO woods view for early arrival?

That would still put us quite a bit over the original pricing when you factor in everything else...

HI Peeps! :wave2:

Pas - both excited and dreading mapping out Christmas. Hoping ILs `get` the cost drama and the newbies understand it`s mainly a touring trip. Did get the new Vacation DVD yesterday to assist in visuals!

dimngal1, hope you made some progress on the December plans. :yay: for the new DVD (which I didn't order yet!!)

Off to enjoy my fave event in Annapolis - croquet! It`s almost as much fun as Disney! (Seriously!) Have a great weekend and hope Spring has sprung for everyone! Happy planning!

Oh, I know its not the same as watching an organized sport, BUT we so loved to play croquet as kids! It was fun wacking the ball (and "sending" people off to [hopefully] never, neverland!) and of course, the usual "cheating" that took place :upsidedow

:woohoo: Oh there is always the chance that you might be showered with some pixiedust: for CL the entire time [even if it comes with the "construction view" lol... we'll take it, right?)

:rotfl2: Only YOU Pas...bringing up the GF. :thumbsup2

Woohoo!! They finally opened up the 6am flight the day we leave! Just changed our flights once again! That has us landing at 9:30am so we will be at WL by lunchtime!

Awesome! Love getting to the World ASAP!

Is it crazy that I'm wondering if I could sway DH with a split stay by telling him I could be a TA with a certain company if I've stayed at 4 resorts in the last 5 years (3 nights or more) and I will only have 3 under my belt after the July trip...hmmm... LOL!

Well, for starters, you can book a BounceBack to experience a new resort! ::yes:: yes, I am always scheming (especially for others! :goodvibes)

Went to see the cherry blossoms today and wandered around DC. I feel a bit spoiled that I can just GO to DC sometimes... makes me think that's how people in Orlando feel about WDW.

Nice!! The blossoms were so beautiful when we went a few years ago. We stayed in Alexandria.

Have you ever changed your vacation around so many times that you can't even see straight anymore.....my goodness.....I'm there right now...

Best things so far on all this.....season passes. :cool1:

Yup, we have been there! :goodvibes (and a few RCers are VERY experienced at this, right Pas? :teeth:) AND :yay: for APs!!

Krystal, is a WL standard room available for one night to lessen the cost a bit? Actually the 4/3 split is not bad... you are park people, check out of POR, head off to the park of the day and then return to WL...and you can gain access to CL immediately even if your room is not ready.:)

Sorry the December planning is a pain so far, but :cool1: for September!

I would love to go see the Cherry Blossoms, I haven't been since I was a preteen when my Dad lived in NoVa

I am confused, not that it's not hard to confuse me. What are the one night stays on either end? A 4 night/3 night split isn't too bad. Your DH can hang in the CL while you check-in...

:welcome: Yeah....I forget where and when I am staying sometimes :duck: Annual passes rock!!! Changing is one of the great things about Disney..it's not a problem!!:cloud9:

Yes we will! But it is more the ability for her to shower, change & get ready for flight home.
There happens to be nice showers by the pool...but I get it :goodvibes Maybe a late check out????

Guilty of that BFF....

And someone has to stay at Sugarloaf :lovestruc since it's not me :rotfl2:

Janet - woods view is the cheapest available, which isn't bad, but then couple that with the dinner cost and the more expensive airport hotel night on the 3rd...not quite worth it for the special fireworks...oh well, maybe some other time. :-)

Jeanette - since it's an early flight out of OHare, we'd stay at the airport hotel the night before and then we get in late the night we come back, so we're planning to stay there again. (We live 3 hours south of the airport). Sorry for confusing you! :-) oh, and I actually priced out a night at GF for the 4th instead. Lol. I figured I wouldn't feel obligated to eat there first before watching the fireworks from the beach if I were actually staying at the resort! Hehehe

DH is actually looking into the ESPN summer soccer camp for DS and some of his teammates...(not this year, but maybe in the next couple of years?) :-)

Ahhhh, makes sense, well airport stays don't count as split stays :thumbsup2 Remember from the GF you can't see fireworks from the beach only the boat dock and down by Narcoosee (we made that mistake one night....) But :thumbsup2to a night at GF
