I can't believe we leave for WDW NEXT WEEK!! If you are a fellow ADR agonizer...come in and see my final work!
We have gone 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round over the decision of where to dine for our wedding anniversary.
We have dined at Cali Grill once...not that impressed, but were willing to give it another try...but canceled our ADR there some time ago after a series of negative reviews that sounded too much like our own experience there...
We have dined at AP twice. The first time, years ago, was a disappointment...much of it service related but the food failed to wow us, as well. Tried it again a couple of years ago and was totally WOWED....So, AP was a serious contender for the anniversary dinner...
We tried FF once and that was "ok"...just didn't get the whole potato wrapped snapper hype...Still, we would consider trying it again if DH was more interested in seafood and I wasn't allergic to shellfish...
Narcoossee's--same problems as FF above (shellfish allergy, DH doesn't like seafood) and the reviews are just really mixed. My own parents didn't like it...
Yachtsman, this one just never seems to make the cut on our list somehow...it doesn't seem to be unique enough to warrant our attention.
Citricos...we have never been here and it was beyond a serious contender. I have canceled several ADRs at this location during the planning months. Also, as great as their dishes are reportedly prepared, it suffers from a little of the same problem as Yachtsman...not interesting enough of a menu to make is really unique and we like weird food on vacation...
Jiko...we have dined here twice, I think DH more than that on business. I know a few things have changed and the last year Jiko's reviews have been a roller coaster ride BUT recently they have greatly improved and there seems to be a new stability. The biggest strike against Jiko is that it is not a NEW place for us (Citricos fit that bill) and we like to try new places whenever possible.
After agonizing over this years DDP signature meal (not a totally romantic affair as our DS7 and DS13 will be with us) we have surprised even ourselves and have decided, again, on Jiko.
We are leaving room to change our minds if the mood strikes us and there is availability. The first runner-up is AP--we love how "not stuffy" it is and we love the food and the lodge.
Other dinners are: Boma, Le Cellier, The Wave, Sanaa, Kouzzina (new), Via Napoli (new) and La Hacienda (new).
As I have been doing for 11 years, I will return with a full trip report for my DIS friends!
