~Our June '09 adventure~ I'm home! Started TR 7/2

Attraction of the Day...

Dumbo

Dumbo is a classic ride! My favorite memory is from our '07 trip. We always love getting ice cream at night at Mrs. Pott's and sitting at a table right by Dumbo and people watching. Well, we're sitting there eating and all of a sudden we hear these little kids start screaming with excitement. We look to where they're running, and out comes Mickey and Minnie each holding a child's hand. Following them was the 2 kids' parents and a Photopass guy and a Dream CM. They got in line for Dumbo and were able to ride the next turn. Mickey and Minnie rode with their kid and before take-off the Photopass guy took pics of them sitting in their elephant. It was the cutest thing ever. The little girl that was with Minnie just kept staring at her in awe. Now, that's Disney magic.

Awww I haven't ridden Dumbo since I was a little kid but that is so cute what the Dream CMs and Mickey and Minnie did for those kiddos! :cutie:

In October, we got there at rope drop to ride Dumbo first. But it was closed. So we kept on going back over and over and over. Finally that morning we gave up. After spectro that day, we walked back over there--Dumbo working, no line. We got in line and thought we were going to miss Wishes--only to board Dumbo as Wishes was starting and riding through Wishes. It was absolutely the best!

Aww girl I'm sending you lots and lots of 's! I'm thinking of you and your family! Stay strong!

On another note Dumbo will hold a special place in my parents and my heart. On my first trip to Disney (I was 5) my dad took me on that ride. My mom stayed on the ground since she doesn't like heights at all. Well when the ride started I flew Dumbo as high as he would go and stayed up there the whole time waving down to my mom. When the ride was over and we started to go down I kept trying to make dumbo fly higher. Still to this day my parents will mention that dumbo ride. It's such a minor memory but something that means so much. That's Disney! :goodvibes

Awww what a cute Dumbo story! I don't remember the last time I rode Dumbo. But I'm sure I've ridden it when I was little with my parents?

I have... umm...

never ridden Dumbo.

Please don't kick me off the DIS.

We'll give you one more chance. If you don't get on it next trip, you'll be asked to leave. :)
Pictures will be necessary for proof, too!

If you are really brave, ride Dumbo during Wishes. It turns a very mild ride into a thriller!

Dumbo is our first Magic Kingdom ride every time with Brooklynn. Straight to Dumbo, and then after that Peter Pan. (She can say them correctly now, but she used to say Bumbo and PanPan.) Those are our first two must-do rides.

I love Dumbo I was so excited to ride when I was in line am such a kid I was so excited I got the little girls in the back excited and then their parents where just looking at me oops :lmao:

OK-here goes nothing.... hehe;)

Dumbo

I love people watching tooo!! hehe:laughing:
aww.. that picture will be priceless.. :goodvibes

I love this ride.. is like a trademark for disney world. I haven't rode them in a very long time however.

As promised...

Here is the picture of my Aunt and Uncle. It was taken not too long before she passed away. Yes they are loopy , but it's my favorite picture of them.

This is a nice picture of them!

Rock 'n RollerCoaster

So... my question is.. is it really that bad? Does it compare to like other thrill rollercoasters.. idk if you ever been to Cedar Point- but like those? If so, I'm not riding. I want to really bad but i don't like super high/steep hills, or anything like that.

Haha, it is crazy already thinking we're going again in 88 days!

yippy.. yours sounds soo close.. and mines before yours.. this is exciting!! I have.. 49 days!!

In my '08 TR, I did my year in review. During our '08 trip, I had bought a cute dress at that Roxy store in Adventureland at the MK to wear for my birthday party in July. I posted pictures of it from my birthday party. That's what I'm going to wear for the Luau. Here it is:

Cute dress! I love summer dresses! For my dads 50th bday- my mom wants to have a surprise bday party and she wants a hawaiian theme.. so I will prob. check out that shop and see what I can find!

March 27th

A year ago today, my life was forever changed. I got a phone call from my sister saying I needed to come home. Our Aunt had passed away. Right now, a year ago, at 9 a.m. she was still alive..and by 4 p.m., she had taken her own life. She will be forever missed. Please keep me and my family in your thoughts today, because it's a day I've been dreading. She was only 28 years old. She left behind a son who's now 10 and a son who's now 2. The 10 year old she had with another guy before she met my uncle. And the 2 year old is my uncle's. From those of you that know me, know that the 2 year old is the light of my life. He is what has kept this family moving along from this loss.

Here's our last family photo:

She's in the back to the left.

Here's her picture from her obituary:

I will be posting another picture of her later when I get back home. I want to share it with you guys. Some family friends took it of my Aunt and Uncle one night and it's the most beautiful picture ever. (Even if they are a bit loopy, haha).

I will be back to doing Attraction of the Day tomorrow. :)

Even though.. its a few days later.. I hope you are doing good and I'm sorry about your loss!

Gran Fiesta Tour

I never really cared for this ride, but it's fun to do once in awhile. Do you guys like it better the way it was before or after they added Donald and his 3 friends?

I've never done this-- although I love the movie- The Three Cabarillos.. its one of my old time favorites of disney. So I'm sure I would like it. But its on my list. Where is it located at exactly?

Oh my gosh! How cool!

The pictures of Dumbo in the fireworks are here. A good friend of ours took the pictures and I think they are awesome:

Thanks girl.

Aw, I remember taking turns riding with my parents while they other one took pics of us and I remember leaning over and waving at them. Wow, I just got teary-eyed thinking about that. Haha.

I have... umm...

never ridden Dumbo.

Please don't kick me off the DIS.

:scared1: You. Have. Never. Ridden. Dumbo?!

Awww what a cute Dumbo story! I don't remember the last time I rode Dumbo. But I'm sure I've ridden it when I was little with my parents?

I bet you did!

Haha, I love acting like a lil' kid again at WDW!

Dumbo is a classic - I just hate how long the line is! I've never ridden Dumbo during WISHES - putting that on the to do list!

I hate the line too! And it's so boring.

Okay..whoa you did a lot of catching up..That picture they took of the kids with Mickey/Minnie on Dumbo has got to be adorable!

Glad you liked the pic of my Aunt and Uncle. I love it.

For Rock 'n RollerCoaster...It doesn't have steep hills or anything. You're inside the whole time. You shoot off really fast, then I think you go into an upside loop and then another one a bit after that. I can't remember the whole ride. It goes so fast!

You have to check out that shop! And there's another one kinda like it at DTD. Which is where I got my Roxy bookbag I've been using for the past 2 years.

For the Gran Fiesta Tour..it's alright. I never really have cared for it either way. It's located in the Mexico pavillion. You have to walk in and go past the little "outdoor" market place.

Attraction of the Day...

Magic of Disney Animation

We've only done this one once. But, I love the gift shop afterwards. They have some of the most beautiful things! I bought a Tinkerbell portrait there on our '07 trip.

My absolute favourite part of MoDA is the Animation Academy. On our last trip we waited for about 40 minutes but it was totally worth it. I think it's one of DHS's hidden treasures. That's what's so neat about Disney... they have all the big attractions like ToT, RNRC and TSM but then there are so many other things to discover like workshops and presentations on artistry and animation. It really is one of the highlights of DHS for me!:goodvibes

It took us forever to finally realize that it was an attraction. I was confused though. What all can you do after you watch that introduction video or whatever?

Oh my goodness, you've never been to the Animation Academy?! I love it there.:goodvibes

After you walk out there's a whole interactive area where you can do stuff like dub your voice into famous Disney cartoons and such. There are also usually a few characters back there (we've seen the Incredibles and Sorcerer Mickey). But my favourite part is there's this drawing class that runs every 30 minutes where you go into a little studio and there's an instructor at the front that teaches you to draw a real Disney character and then you can take your drawing home. They do such a good job, I'm not artistic at all and they make it so easy! Then finally there's a gift shop (as always LOL) at the end.

When you're there in June you have to go check it all out. It's SO much fun!

Oh! Here's a photo of my parents at the tables in the Animation Academy:

We were so confused and overwhelmed we didn't know what to do! So we just took pics and headed towards the gift shop. But, that sounds so cool! I think we're definately going to spend more time here this trip! Thanks for the info.

Dumbo: Another classic that we haven't ridden in a while. Yes, I am 24 years old now and my sisters are 21 and 19 but it is one of those nostalgic rides. I am determined to ride it again soon!

Animation: We don't do this a lot but it is interesting. On our trip last December we spent a lot of time in there because it was 30 degrees. It was nice to go in there and get out of the cold for a while! :rotfl: I also love the Art of Disney store in there. :thumbsup2

Dumbo will always have a sentimental place in my heart.

Isn't all the stuff in the Art of Disney store gorgeous?!
