Heather, Love your trip report and photos, it's nice to see what some other ships have to offer in comparison to Disney.
Are you saying that this was the maiden voyage of the Independence?

Speaking of 'Titanic moments' - you know that Titanic's last port of call was Cobh! I'm from Cork & the arrival of 'Independence' caused great excitement - hence the heavy traffic caused by people travelling to Cobh to get a look at it.
Your photos are great. The picture of the statue in Cork is of Fr. Matthew who introduced the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association to Cork. In the picture that has the Bowen sign on the right, the red-bricked building opposite is the Crawford Art Gallery which is well worth a visit, and is next to the Cork Opera House. You mentioned having gone into Pennys - this is one of the beautiful buildings in Cork that has a modern ground floor, but if you look up you'll see the original building. http://www.irish-architecture.com/buildings_ireland/cork/cork/pennys_lge.html
Thanks Bunsie...now if I had known beforehand, I could'v'e got the heads up from you in advance of the trip. We had a great time...just wish we had tried one of the bars, but they were packed! Did it make you feel homesick seeing the views?
