It looks great!
Can you post a link to the instructions? My class is having a cake sale in a few weeks. I'd love to use a Minnie cake as a center piece.
Thanks everyone!!!
We only had a pic to go on, and modified things a bit! Here is the one I saw online (SUPER cute!) http://www.flickr.com/photos/thesweettoothfairy/3018282019/in/set-72157603839918298/
The bottom is 2 layers from a 10 inch round 2 inch high pan. The middle layer is a 8 inch round 3 inch high pan. The top layer I used a saucepan since I didn't have a small enough pan. Then I put a small bowl on top of that layer to get the rounded effect. The ears are cardboard with fondant over them and toothpicks holding them in. The entire cake is covered with fondant, you can get a 5lb pack at Michael's for around $10 with a coupon. The fondant is a pain, you have to knead it well, then drop some icing coloring into it to get the black and the pink colors and roll it out thin. I used red for pink, not too much. We had various round objects we used for the polka dots mickey head and ears (a cookie cutter would work great, but didn't have one!). All of the decorations are "glued" to the cake with a paintbrush and a little bit of water on the backside of each decoration. It holds like glue. I didn't make the ribbon, my sister did so I'm not sure how she did that!
Hope that helps!
Thanks
I want to make a red and white one (the boys would die if I made a pink cake)
Silly question, but how did you get the ears black? I've never seen black food coloring.I assume I can pick some up at Michael's.
Sorry for all the questions![]()
Nice job! Fondant's a PITA, isn't it?)
I love it. I would love a cake like that for my dds. I couldn't do that. Thanks for sharing!!!
Me likey rolled fondant...
actually, I used to be a professional baker...nice job!WDW would have charged you $350 for THAT cake!!!
Ps...the rolled fondant usually tastes awful, too sweet...did you put a thin layer of regular frosting under??? I peel off the rolled fondant after people ooohh and ahhhh over my cakes.
