We’ve been back for just over a week and figured it was time to do a dining report. My new husband and I set out for our 11 day Disney Gold Plan Honeymoon on May 10th. On the Gold Plan we were entitled to an appetizer, entrée, dessert, beverage, and coffee per person for both lunch and dinner, and for breakfast either a buffet breakfast or a traditional type breakfast including juice and coffee. Tip and tax is also included. I’ll include the cost of each meal just to give you an idea of what we got out of the plan. I had made PS’s for all our breakfast and dinners at the 90 mark, lunches were eaten whenever.

Day 1

We arrived at the Contemporary Resort around noon. It was definitely time to begin our journey of food and it began at Restaurant Akershus. The smoked salmon on the cold bar was imported from Norway and was excellent. We both enjoyed the cold bar and hot entrees of Lamb and salmon. DH said the lamb was really good and the salmon was equally tasty. Desserts consisted of a layered chocolate mousse and a fruit tart. Cost - $43.67

For dinner we had reservations for Teppanyaki. We let our server know right away that we were on the Gold Plan and she made sure we got everything we were entitled to. I had a sashimi appetizer and DH had a sushi combo appetizer, frozen non-alcoholic drinks, and soft drinks. For our meal, DH had the filet & lobster and I had the lobster, scallops, & shrimp. The amount of food they give you is more than enough, not to mention very good. For dessert it was fresh fruit and fat free ice cream with Mickey confetti on top. Cost of dinner - $126.43

Day 2

We started our 1st full day off at CRT’s. A beautiful table by the window. One healthy choice breakfast and one regular adult breakfast. The healthy breakfast is good if you enjoy granola with dried fruit and yogurt poured over top. DH said the regular breakfast was pretty good and consisted of several different breakfast items. It’s all you care to eat served at your table. We were given 2 CRT champagne flutes along with a certificate since our reservation was listed as being on the Gold Plan and being on our honeymoon. The princesses all stopped by to say hello and some also signed the certificate. The setting was very nice. Cost - $48.58

After breakfast we headed to City Hall for our Keys to the Kingdom tour. This was an excellent experience. They feed you on this tour so lunch was at Columbia Harbor House. DH had the Starboard Deck sandwich and I had the Lighthouse sandwich, both served with chips and a pop. Cost – included in price of tour (which is also part of the plan).

Dinner tonight will be at Narcossee’s. For starters DH had stuffed clams and I had mussels, both were very yummy! For dinner DH had a filet and added a lobster tail. I had the sesame crusted ahi tuna. Both were definite thumbs up! I had the berry pyramid and DH had the triple chocolate terrine. Cost - $170.10

Day 3

Started day 3 at the Crystal Palace. Pretty good food here and a nice atmosphere, lots of windows allowing the Florida sun to shine in, very bright. Good character interaction even for two adults. Cost - $41.29

Lunch was at Sci-Fi at MGM. We really enjoyed it, very different, fun way to dine. Appetizers included Marinated tomatoes and a house salad. Entrees were the steak sandwich and BBQ chicken sandwich. I skipped dessert, and DH had a malt to go. The atmosphere here was also fun and the portions were large. $56.17

Dinner was at Flying Fish at the Boardwalk. Appetizer for DH was the lobster salad and for me was a market salad. Entrée for DH was the veal dish, which he raved about. I had the tuna, which was even better than that at Narcossee’s. For dessert DH got the much talked about Valrhona Chocolate Soufflé (DH thought he was in heaven and hasn’t stopped talking about it) and I had the sorbet trio (you’ll notice a trend here). Cost - $134.85

Day 4

Starting today at Chef Mickey’s. This was probably my favorite character breakfast. I’m not sure why, the food was good, but I think it was the activity that goes on during breakfast. I tried to change another PS for later in the trip to Chef Mickey’s but it was booked up for the remainder of the trip. Cost - $41.29

Lunch was at Le Cellier. This was the one lunch that we did make a PS for and good thing; there was a wait at 1:30. DH started his meal off with the cheese soup, he have it an “A”. I had the Asian shrimp cocktail, also very good. I agree with everyone, the pretzel bread was excellent and served warm! For our entrees DH had the prime rib sandwich and I had the chicken Caesar salad. Desserts were chocolate bread pudding for DH and the sorbet for me. Le Cellier had the best sorbet I had all trip! Cost - $65.52

Dinner tonight was at Spoodles at the Boardwalk. DH had the mussels to start and I hummus and bread. DH had the tuna and I ordered pasta with shrimp but got pasta with mushrooms instead, no big deal, I love mushrooms too. For dessert DH got the chocolate-macadamia biscotti and I had sorbet. This way the only meal during the entire 11 days (3 meals a day) that I wasn’t crazy about but DH enjoyed his. Cost - $82.64

Day 5

1900 Park Fare this morning for breakfast. This is also a really good character breakfast, food was really good, especially the omelet station and crepes! Character interaction was good. Cost - $53.41

Lunch was at Rose & Crown. We both had the smoked salmon for starters, then fish & chips for DH and the citrus chicken salad for me. Dessert was the chocolate trifle for DH and I skipped mine. Cost - $57.27

After Cirque we headed over to Wolf Gang Pucks Dining Room. We started with a special pot sticker for DH and a rainbow roll. For our entrees I had a sushi sampler that was excellent and DH had filet & lobster. I have to tell you, it was approximately a 20 oz. lobster tail and was the best I’ve ever tasted! (DH is still talking about this meal also). Believe it or not, we both skipped dessert for this one. I will also add that DH’s meal alone (entrée only) was $108.00, thank God for the Gold Plan; I’d hate to pay that bill. Cost - $207.59

Day 6

Breakfast at Grand Floridian Café. DH had the traditional Japanese breakfast. I had been talking about this meal for months prior to the trip and by this point, I didn’t want to think of such an elaborate meal for breakfast knowing what each day of food had in store for me. I opted for an egg beater scramble and English muffin. DH said the Japanese breakfast was very different, a new experience. Cost - $41.83

We fished this morning and headed over to the Beach Club for Beaches & Cream afterwards. A burger for DH and a turkey sandwich for me. They have a set meal plan for anyone on a meal plan which included a cookie and chips. DH had a malt for dessert and I had fat free ice cream with those same Mickey confetti (I loved these!).

Dinner tonight is at California Grille. We had a table by the window and were seated at 9:00 and it was a 10:00 Wishes night. DH had a California Roll with peeky toe crab and I had a sushi sampler, both were EXCELLENT! DH then ordered the tuna and I had a special sea bass entrée. Once again, both were excellent. Dessert was sorbet for me and the valrhona chocolate cake for DH. He’s hooked on these desserts now. Cost - $119.98
The way in which they dim the lights and pipe in the sound for Wishes is really a great touch along with a spectacular view and outstanding food.

Day 7

Breakfast was at Kona Café before heading out for golf lessons and a round. We both had half a grapefruit. DH had the Tonga toast, just like he remembered from when he was a kid (now 34). I tried it too and it was pretty good. I had egg beaters and English muffin again. Cost - $34.42

Lunch at Hollywood Brown Derby. We ate at 3:30 so we had to eat off of the dinner menu. DH had the hearts of romaine salad and then the rack of lamb. He said this was the sleeper surprise meal for him. He wasn’t expecting the meal he had, he was very pleased. I started with a bowl of gazpacho and then the hearts of romaine salad but substituted chicken for the prosciutto and skipped the dressing. Dessert here didn’t appeal to me but I got one for DH to try. We ordered the chocolate flourless cake and a cheesecake. Cost - $83.61

Dinner tonight was missed. We were supposed to eat at Portobello’s but by the time we got out of Fantasmic and a bus came, it was too late. Epcot was open until midnight this night so DH grabbed a Beaver’s tail and then we both got a beer and pretzel to snack on. This was fine after a big, late lunch.

Day 8

Breakfast at the resort, Concourse Steakhouse. DH had eggs benedict and I had smoked salmon and a bagel. Both were very good. Cost - $26.68

Lunch was at Tempura Kiku in Japan. This is at the sushi bar but the majority of food is tempura (hence the name). We are big tempura fans, but in case you couldn’t figure it out, we love sushi, so sushi it was. DH had miso soup to start and then the sushi deluxe. I had edamame to start and then the sushi combo. We finished again with fresh fruit and fat free ice cream with the Mickey confetti. (Can I buy this somewhere?) Cost – 67.33

Tonight we headed over to the Yacht Club for Yachtsman Steakhouse. DH had Oysters Rockefeller, which he said was excellent, and then Prime Rib. He ended with key lime pie. He gave the entire meal excellent rating. I had a house salad to start and then the Chilean bass, it was amazing. I ended with…yep, sorbet. Cost – 127.53

Day 9

We ate breakfast today at ‘Ohana. This meal wasn’t for me. Our CM brought me a bagel and didn’t even charge me a coupon for it. DH said it was okay, but not his favorite. Cost - $20.65 (for one)

Lunch was at Tangerine Café. This was a good meal but a bit of a hassle. The CM at the register told us that they did not honor the Gold Plan. We had a brochure that showed that it did, but we still had to speak with a manager in order to eat. DH had the shawarma platter with lamb and I had the vegetarian platter. We both had some sort of chocolate dessert. Cost - $34.72

Tonight we’re off to Artist Point. We had a great server here, Jack. DH started with the venison spring rolls and I had the mussels. For our entrees it was the buffalo sirloin for DH and the cedar plank salmon for me. Salmon is not one of my favorite fish (with the exception of smoked salmon which I love) but this was really good! Dessert for DH was the coffee two ways and I had the sorbet. This was another great meal. Cost - $133.05

Day 10

Crystal Palace again, same as above. Cost $41.29

We decided some BBQ would be tasty so we decided on Flame Tree BBQ. DH had ribs and I had the BBQ chicken salad. We got a side of onion rings and fries and frozen lemonade for dessert. Cost - $35.19

Dinner on our last full day was at Citricos. DH had the crab cake appetizer and I had a bouillabaisse. For our entrees DH had the veal shank and I had the swordfish. This may have been my favorite meal. Dessert was the chocolate banana torte for DH and sorbet for me. Cost – 123.93

Day 11

We had breakfast at the Concourse Steakhouse again. DH had the eggs benedict since he enjoyed it so much the first time. I had egg beaters, grapefruit, and English muffin.

Lunch was at Chefs de France. DH started with the escargots and then the toasted ham & cheese. He ended with a chocolate mousse type dessert that he took to-go so we could go enjoy Off Kilter. I had the tartar of salmon to begin and then the salade nicoise. I skipped dessert.

Since we had one coupon left from our missed dinner after Fantasmic, we got a meal to-go from the Plaza Restaurant to take with us on the plane. DH had the Plaza Club and a malt to enjoy on our way out of the park and I got the veggie wrap and fat free ice cream.

I don’t have any of the prices from the last day since we had already checked out and they weren’t included on our printout.

Throughout the stay we enjoyed many trips to the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor, pretzels in Germany, and Premium Mickey Bars. We also enjoyed drinking around the world in Epcot in addition to a few other drinks here and there.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, I’d love to help in anyone future planning. I have to say one thing, I know that the Gold Plan isn’t for everyone, but if you enjoy eating Good food while on vacation and also enjoy different activities (we golfed, fished, saw Cirque, did 3 behind the scenes tours, and rented speed boats five times) then I would highly recommend to you, we had a fantastic time!!!

What great review.:D I really enjoyed reading them. Congratulations and many, many years of wedding bliss!!!

Thanks for the reviews! How much weight did you each gain during the trip?;) Just kidding! I once gained 6 pounds during a weekend at WDW, but lost it within a week or two once I was back to my usual eating schedule at home.

Great report. We will be on the Gold Plan for 7 nights at the end of August. A couple of questions:

What is the deal with Beaches & Cream? We have that on our list and we are wondering about the set plan that you mention.

With Wolfgang Puck, were you in the dining room or the cafe - I didn't see the dining room on our list.

Also, we would love to hear about your tours (though I realize that this is probably not the board for that). We plan on doing the Steam Trains, Wild by Design, Backstage Safari, Hidden Treasures of the World, and Gardens of EPCOT - we did Keys to the Kingdom last time and loved it.

Gotta say, reading your report just makes us more excited about going. We are afraid they may make us buy an extra seat on the plane for the trip home!

WOW! Y'all ate like royalty!

I really know now that the Gold Plan is not for us, but I am so intigued by others reviews!!!!!!! Sounds like a wonderful honeymoon! CONGRATS!

WOW! That is a crazy amount of food! After breakfast and lunch, I wouldn't be able to even think about dinner.

Your reviews were great!

:wave2: My husband and I are going in July and some of the restaurants you reviewed are on our list. thank you for your experiences. Congratulations to both of you.

Thanks for posting your reviews. I enjoyed reading them. I don't know what the "Gold Plan" costs, but it seems like you really got your money out of it!

Wow!!
Just curious about Wolfgang's dining room-. I assume it was the "upstairs" fine dining restaurant?? How was the service??

Great reviews. I was glad to see some of the restaurants on your reviews are on our list for sept.
Glad you enjoyed WP's dining room. This is our fav restaurant at wdw. My dbf's entree last time was arond $48 just for a steak. WP's dining room is a must do on the gold plan.
After reading your reviews .....now I'm all excited again....should be down to double digits tomorrow....woo hoo !!!!

I don't mean to hijack this thread but just wanted to offer my input.

Uncleromulus,
When we went to WP's dining room last March the service was the best of any restaurants we tried in wdw. We had 3 or 4 different servers/waitstaff attending our table. We never had to even ask for another water or soft drink. As soon as one was near empty another one appeared. They were also very knowledgeable about the menu and were happy to offer suggestions. Everything was an a++++++++.

I really wanted to thank you for the Gold Add-on review. We are scheduled in 2 weeks for our family's 1st WDW trip and have made several PS for meals. We have 9yo and 6yo and was wondering how the Gold plan worked. Sounds like there was no limiting on the meals you described (which sounded very appetizing). Several of same restaurants noted that we have scheduled. These forums have been a great way to prepare the family for our 1st trip. Thanks to all.

Thanks for your reviews, they were excellent!! Congratulations and lots of luck to both of you:D

You can order any meal off of the menu at Beaches & Creams, but they add on the cookie and chips because they don't have appetizers in order to fulfill the Gold Plan inclusions.

Yes we ate upstairs at the WP Dining Room. It was wonderful.

We did KTTK tour, Backstage Safari, and the UnDIScovered Future World Tour. We thoroughly enjoyed the MK and AK ones but weren't very impressed by the Epcot tour.

Uncleromulus -

We did eat at the Dining Room at WP. The service was outstanding. The filet & lobster wasn't on the menu, the server suggested it as an alternative. They were incredibly attentive!
