Me (41) Dis Board Junkie who would rather spend time planning trip than cooking dinner.

DH (41) Funder of trip and generous earner of frequent flier miles to get us there…appreciates all the Disney planning, not so thrilled with the no dinners thing.

DS (10) Thrill-Seeker…very excited to be going to the “World”. Been twice to Disneyland and loves any ride that goes fast, high or upside-down.

DS (8) Drama King…charming child who loves meeting the characters, thinks he’s a thrill-seeker (but is still a little frightened of upside-down) and may blow a gasket at any time. Been to Disneyland once.

DS (4) Binky Boy…Happy to be going anywhere the family goes, as long as he’s with Mom. Still needs a binky at night, but will assail brothers with full blows when provoked. Also been to DL once.

Trip Dates: 1/7/05 – 1/15/05

Tuesday, January 11

It’s Epcot day today! We snooze a little, then hit the breakfast buffet and we’re off. We arrive just after opening and head straight through to Mission Space, but it’s down, so we go to Test Track. We only have to wait about 5 minutes and we all loved it! We checked on Mission Space, but still down, so we ride Test Track again. After this, it’s time for the Character Caravan, so we head back to the Ball for the autograph bonanza.

By this time, World Showcase has opened up, so we head to Mexico. The ride there is closed for renovation, so we just take pix of the kids with big sombreros on and continue on around the World, snapping pictures of boys in each country with different hats on. We get as far as Italy and decide to eat lunch at Alfredo’s…they have spaghetti, my kids favorite.

Since we are coming back later in the week for EMH, we decide to head back for a swim and finish EPCOT later. We hit Spaceship Earth on the way out, then we’re back to the hotel. This is the first night of our trip that we didn’t have a dinner planned, so we decide to try Bahama Breeze right there in the Marriott Village. The atmosphere was great and I loved my drink…I think it was called a Bahamatini??? It had three different kinds of fruit slushies in one martini glass with a sidecar of something (rum, tequila, can’t remember) attached to the glass.

After dinner, we head to Downtown Disney where we split up. DH takes Thrill-Seeker and Drama King to Disney Quest and I haul Binky Boy around to shop. We have our cell phones with us to make plans for meeting up later. Here’s where I begin a most memorable part of the trip…

Now I love to shop and BB is quite used to having to go along with me and is pretty good about it. I’m able to get about 1 ½ hours under my belt when he needs something to drink. We pop into the Earl of Sandwich for a quick beverage and he and I sit there together for awhile. This is when he starts in with a line of questioning about God and Heaven. I talk to him about what we believe and remind him what he’s learned in Sunday School and then we’re off to another store and a ride on the little carousel they have there. We go into the candy store to buy some gifts and he is still talking about God and whether there is candy in Heaven. This leads to me telling him that since we don’t need our bodies any more when we’re in Heaven, we also probably don’t need food. “Why don’t we need our bodies any more?” he asks, which leads to me telling him about bodies not lasting forever, so they eventually die and we believe our spirit goes to Heaven. OK…apparently death is a new revelation to Binky Boy and he’s learning that we are all going to die someday. And he’s learning about this in the Happiest Place on Earth! This is when the tears begin and for the next hour, I am shopping with a sobbing 4 year old who keeps repeating “We’re all going to die”. Now I have re-assured him over and over that death is not imminent and we all have many years ahead of us (hopefully), but he can’t get beyond it. I finally wind up my shopping trip and drive over to pick up the Disney Questers, who are informed upon entry into the vehicle that they, too, are all going to die. They don’t care, ‘cause they just had a blast at Disney Quest and can’t wait to tell me all about it. DH tells me that they could have spent more than the three hours there that they were allotted by me, the shopping mom. The favorite activity was building the virtual roller coaster and then riding it in the simulated ride. Also, all the arcade games were included with our “Plus” option on the MYW tix.

Anyway, that’s the end of Day 5 in the Happiest Place on Earth (and we’re all going to die).

the last part had me :rotfl: . I was trying to be quite and not wake anyone else up but I was laughing so hard :rotfl2: . This sounds like a conversation I would have with my daughter. Your trip sounds great so far!

Brenda :cutie:

LOL...people had to have been giving you some funny looks with a 4 yo at your side saying, "We're all going to die!" :rotfl2:

I'm patiently waiting, but maybe I'm just missing it. If so, please someone let me know. Thanks

I have had the same drink at Bahama Breeze that you wrote about!!! It is excellent!!! I see you are from Seattle (I am from the Seattle area too). There is a Bahama Breeze at Southcenter. I love going there. It makes me feel like I am in Florida!

Bahama breeze is a great place! We have one about 5 minutes from my house!! Love the chicken kabobs. . . .YUM. . .

I have had that conversation with we all have to die someday. .. .

of all places!! :rotfl2:

The Happiest Place on Earth/"We are all going to die" conversation. How classic is that? I am really enjoying your reports. Thanks for sharing.

Sharon

Your reports are great reading. BB's venture into philosophy was very touching. Reminded me of the time my 4yo DD wanted to tell everyone at the mall where babies come from.

Speaking of dying....We were at a funeral last week and they proceeded to do the whole 21 gun salute thing and my DD4 asks my MIL " who are they shooting at now? He is already in the box".

....Bad thing was that the person in the "box" was MIL's father... Poor kid just doesn't have the whole "time and place" concept down yet!!

Kids are just priceless at this age!!!! :rotfl2:
