Our First Trip as Parents! December 2012 TR - 8/6 OMG a TR link!

Another brisk walk was had and according to this picture it was exactly 11:45:06! We were 6 seconds late for our ADR.

And this is outside the turnstiles. I took a picture of DM lagging behind. You can kind of see her in the distance between a family and a couple about to make-out (?)

DSC01079.jpg

There was no time to take in the hustle and bustle of the park so we went straight to the restaurant. We were late. The timestamp for this picture was 11:53:27. I HATE BEING LATE. So I send DH in there to check in so he can be lectured on punctuality. Hehe :teeth:

We had to wait about 10 minutes, which was fine with us. It gave us some time to sit down and catch our breath from our very hectic morning. Our name was called and we were transported back in time and were seated in the very front row. Our unobstructed view of the screen

And the cars around us

DH and I had eaten here back in 2010 and we really enjoyed it and knew DM would love this place. She’s totally into the whole ‘Sci-Fi’ thing and is in love with movies that have oversized insects that attack cities and what not. And of course they had clips of these things. We took a few minutes to look over the menu

I couldn’t get any pictures of DH or DM’s food because they were sitting behind me so I just got pictures of mine. For an appetizer I ordered the Spinach and Artichoke dip. I got this last time and it was really tasty

DSC01087.jpg

DM got the onion rings. I pretty much forced her to get them actually because I remember them being DELICIOUS and they still were this time around. I believe we all got the Build-Your-Own Angus Chuck Burger for entrees and I’m sorry no picture. For dessert I got the Out-Of-This-World Turtle Cheesecake and oh my gosh, it was completely out of this world! It was ridiculous.

DSC01088.jpg

DM was practically begging for more bites of my dessert because she ordered a Milkshake, which was delicious as well, by the way.

Lunch was so nice and relaxing. Besides the clips showing, it was really quiet in there. No one seemed to be talking. Everyone was eating and watching the big screen. It was so weird, but nice.

DH took a picture of us

DSC01089.jpg

Then our waiter saw him do this and offered to take a picture of all of us

DSC01090.jpg

DM totally enjoyed Sci-Fi and I’m pretty sure this is where she would come again, if she ever makes it back to WDW.

I wanted to do something but since we just ate, something slow and easy was in order. Let’s do the Great Movie Ride! As we were making our way over to the entrance we saw Meeko! There was literally no one around him for a while

DSC01091.jpg

DSC01092.jpg

DH ended up staying and talking to Meeko about our dog, Percy the Pug, which is Meeko’s new found friend from the movie Pocahontas. Here’s Percy in case you haven’t met him yet

While DH and DS were visiting with Meeko, DM was checking out the different signatures and handprints on the ground

DSC01093.jpg

We eventually made our way inside then DH wanted me to take a picture of DS ‘riding’ the horse from Mary Poppins. Why? I don’t know.

DSC01096.jpg

I didn’t take any pictures of the ride, but DM absolutely loved it! She’s a lover of all movies so she thought it was really cool to see clips from some of the best movies of all time this way.

Looks like a fun lunch at the Sci Fi Dine In :goodvibes we tried it for the first time last summer - I booked it more for the novelty/theme, but actually really enjoyed the food too!

I love your Oswald tshirt btw! I'm hoping to get some Oswald merchandise in June :thumbsup2 I think it's such a nice story how Disney got the rights to him again after all those years lol

I just stumbled upon your TR and I'm loving it so far!

Wow you had a busy morning transferring resorts but sounds like you had a delicious and relaxing lunch at Sci Fi.

The picture of your DS riding the horse is absolutely adorable! Can't wait to read more! :goodvibes

Your dog is super adorable, let's just start there! Sounds like a stressful morning, but lunch seems to have helped! We have only eaten there once, back in 2011, but we have ADRs there for April!

Love the photo of your little one "riding" the horse :rotfl:

We loved Sci Fi, so yummy. That artichoke dip was delicious.

Percy is too cute.

Glad you had a nice relaxing meal and great movie ride after your hectic morning! It can be so confusing getting around DW sometimes, there are too many variables.

Dh was reading/glancing over my shoulder and as I scrolled by the pic of your DS being impressed by the BWV room, he says "he doesn't look very impressed" :lmao: The exact opposite of what you wrote.

Glad your Mom enjoyed her lunch, we enjoyed It there too back in 2009 and want to go back on our next trip.

I love the picture of Calvin on the horse, he is so cute!

I would say the split stay option would be a great DVC perk! :thumbsup2 I like your idea to tack the Deluxe Dining Plan on for one part of the stay too. I'd love to use it sometime, but I think having a whole trip on the DxDP would be way too much food.

I'm sorry about the transportation ordeal. You could have walked through EPCOT though, if you really wanted. Even though WS isn't open, you can get to the International Gateway going past Canada. Just thought I'd share in case that ever happens to you again. :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

I love the Sci Fi. It is a great spot to go for lunch. It seems to be one of those places that people either love or hate, but that's alright with me. Makes it easier to get in when I want to. :thumbsup2

I love my shirt too! I've had it forever but the fabric is really nice and has been pretty durable over the years. And i'm still able to fit into it so i'll continue to wear it until I outgrow it! :rotfl:

It was definitely a busy morning and Sci Fi helped us relax a lot :thumbsup2

Morning! haha! I work in the city and catch the train veryyyy early....wake up time for me is 4am :)

Yikes! I remember the good ole days of waking up at 3:15am to be at work at 4am. Kinda glad those days are gone!

I always joke that Percy is my first born :lmao: Lunch most definitely helped with our hectic morning!

It was delicious! Just like how I remembered it :)

I really thought I had the World's transportation system down, but apparently I don't. :rotfl: Looks like i'll need a few more trips to figure it out, and i'm okay with that! :thumbsup2

:lmao: @ your DH! Everyone interprets faces differently

Thanks Monica!

Oh man, back in 2010 when it was just me and DH, we did 7 days on the Deluxe Dining Plan and it was insane! :scared1: However, we loved the fact that we could visit Signature restaurants with the dining plan so this was another reason why we wanted to switch resorts.

You know, I thought about walking through Epcot, but I wasn't sure how it would work when switching our PH's over to our new KTTW cards if we had used a PH to cut through Epcot. :confused3

I do this every year, because I feel like i'm ignoring an important part of my life by not talking about it and going on with my day like it's any normal day.

But today has been 6 years since I lost my Dad to a very sudden heart attack. In fact, he died about 1 hour after my grandpa (his dad) died of old age so I lost two important people on this day.

Some people find that it's morbid/weird to take a picture in front of a headstone, but that's all my DS has of my Dad.

DH showing DS where he gets his middle name from (Davis)

Today we're celebrating his life by making one of his favorite dinners (Tri-tip!) and eating at my mom's. So no Disney updates today, but will definitely update tomorrow :)

Thanks for letting me share with you all! :goodvibes

Not morbid at all. It is important to know where you come from, and it is good to see that you can take some time to remember him as a family.

I hope you were able to make the best of a sad day and remember the good times.

Your father was a handsome man, and too young for such an unfourtunate circumstance. I'm so sorry, but it's nice that you celebrate his memory every year. There is no greater memorial that you can do. :grouphug: So glad that you can live through it and move on but remember the important things. He will live on in your memories. Your DS will know he was a great man.

Those are lovely pictures and wonderful memories. Thank you for posting them. I am so sorry you lost your dad at such a young age. I don't think visiting a grave site is morbid at all. Plus, I believe the spirits don't hang at the cemetery too long. They are out galavanting around in a whole other dimension.

Adorable pictures of your son!
