hi,

please help me in the planning phase. we are an extended family of 8 staying in a 2 BR at the BCV. i assume we need to bring dish detergent, laundry detergent and coffee/coffee filters. what about towels? do they give you enough for that many people? also, someone who owns advised me to bring some beach towels. any thoughts??? we are planning on using a grocery delivery service for breakfast items, snacks and water. anything else we should get that i am not thinking of???? thanks so much!!:confused3

Actually you don't need dish detergent, they provide a small bottle & new sponge. The towels are never enough for us, but we just throw them in the washer after a couple of days & it's fine. They provide towels at the pool so I don't think you need beach towels either...unless you're going to the beach? I like to buy bleach to run through the hot tub before we use it, but we're germaphobes. I also buy extra toilet paper, because again they never give enough for us, but you could call down & get some so not necessary. I think they give enough soap, but definitely not enough shampoo & conditioner. Hope that helps!

thanks for the advice. and good idea about the bleach :thumbsup2 i may have to have some clorox wipes too. scared about the whole virus thing that i have read so much about at wdw. a cold, i can deal with; vomitting etc. would be a major downer.

anything else to bring that i haven't thought of??

Stop at Publix on the way to the airport. Washer detergent yes, dish detergent no. Beach towels can be helpful. Don't over pack your clothes. We do a load of laundry every day when we get back up to the room. For a weeks stay you only need 3-4 days of clothes.

The coffee pot in the kitchen comes with a couple of days supply of coffee w/filters (and little packets of sugar, sweetener and powder creamer). We usually bring our own for the rest of our stay since DVC charges for "extra" coffee.

thanks so much. are the coffee filters the cone or basket ones? i am addicted to dunkin donuts so i will be bringing that in my luggage. guess along with some sugar packets too!

Basket filters.

my brother refuses to buy filters while at WDW. he just uses a single paper towel instead (have to admit, it works perfectly & the coffee tastes fine:thumbsup2 )

thanks for the tip! i would not have thought of that!! hey, you never know until you try. :thumbsup2

Kim,

Not sure what grocery service you're using. We have always used gardengrocer.com and have been very happy with them. They deliver right to your hotel - so no stopping to shop. We love that convenience. Enjoy your trip! :flower3:

We also use gardengrocer.com and have never been dissappointed. They have little bottles of laundry detergent that are good for 2 loads o order a couple. If I recall, we got one little box of detergent but that doesn't go very far. Bring coffee - basket filters.

Another thumbs up for Garden Grocer! :thumbsup2 We're using them again for our April trip.

As for what I always bring or order through GG (aside from food items)...
* extra toilet paper
* small bottle of liquid laundry detergent
* dryer sheets (sometimes I just stick some in a ziplock and bring them)
* shampoo and conditioner (those little samples aren't ever enough for us)
* napkins or paper towels (they provide a roll of paper towels, but when we stayed in a 2-BR, we needed more)
* a couple bars of soap (DVC provides a few small ones)

Also, I agree with the PP about packing clothes and towels. We bring 3 sets of clothes and do laundry. I honestly don't even think twice about it, as I throw a load of laundry in before we head out for the day, dry it when we get back, and have it for the next day. I LOVE having a washer and dryer in the room. :goodvibes

Hope you have a wonderful stay!!! We're staying at BCV this July for the first time. :beach:

thanks so much you guys!!! gotta love this board:grouphug:

i am thinking of using garden grocer. glad to hear some positive experiences with them. it is great that they have a grocery service, esp. for those in dvc as you have a kitchen and washer/dryer. so thrilled about that as i know i will "shouting" our clothes from many a stain during our stay. ooh, gotta remember to put that on the list!! it is really helpful getting advice from disers. have a great time buckeye fan on your 1st trip to BCV in july. i am so jealous; i have to wait until halloween!!! :hourglass

We didn't have salt or pepper or tea so I bought them although I guess you could pick up some packets when you are out. They also didn't leave decaf coffee but housekeeping brought that to us when I called.

I hear you. Right now, I'm sitting here with about 4+ inches of snow on the ground, listening to the ice hitting the gutters. :sad2:

We're going in April, and staying at AKV. I can't wait to get out of this mess! FWIW, I remember booking back in October and thinking, "April is so far away." Well, we're now a little over 70 days out!

As for GG, we were so pleased with them. I was worried about using a service like that, but what they picked out for us was better than what I would have picked! :thumbsup2 If you place an order through any site, though, watch quantities. Last time, I ordered 1 banana. :lmao: GG was kind enough to bring us 6, as I think they knew I didn't want just 1 banana. :p

ok, i am even more jealous that you are going in april too. we have somewhere around 3 in of snow here in nj today. my boys are watching aladdin (and getting to know some more disney characters :) )

another question, do you get a choice of brands when ordering items from GG?

thanks so much!
