"Our First Member Event is Coming to California"

Hi,
I'm watching carefully and am excited to hear about what happens at this event. I could have sworn I read on DVCnews.com that the models were for sure GCV models (and not AKV.) If that's true then I'm excited b/c it hopefully means they don't necessarily think it will sell out in 1 week. Has anyone seen reliable confirmation that these are indeed GCV models?

My guide indicated it would be GCV models.

I also haven't received anything beyond the initial postcard.

Yep, same here, DH and I have a GCH nite on points reserved for 5/25 and plan to attend that day. Like the rest of you, I have'nt received any additional info either. I will be sure to post if/or when I do....

We haven't received anything else except for the initial postcard saying they would be sending more info soon. I was told by MS last week that we should be receiving something in the mail the first full week of May(next week, I guess). She said that only people from CA, AZ, and NV are being invited and that you have to have an invitation to be able to attend. I guess once we have our invitation we have to call and make a reservation for it. I am really interested to see what the schedule is going to be like and what kind of events will be happening.

I dont know that this is true because:

1) I live in SoCal and am a DVC owner and never received a post card.....a SoCal rep said its because of "slacking" on the part of my Florida rep and

2) the SoCal rep I spoke to never mentioned anything at all about how we need to have an invitation to attend but instead said "I look forward to seeing you that weekend"!!

All I know is that I'm attending on that Saturday even if I have to crash the party!!!

It then lists Sat. May 24th, Sun. May 25th and Mon. May 26th all three dates at 7pm at the Pacific Ballroom at Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel. It also says you must RSVP by May 19, 2008 at (it lists the website, I don't think I am able to post one on here? ). It does say that reservations are required and space is limited.

I was at Disneyland on Wed. and I talked with a DVC rep and he said that there would be food and lots of door prizes. He also said that some of the prizes would be DVC points! He said it should be really awesome!

Anyone else get there's?

I received mine today! I've already registered.

It said," The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa are not yet fully registered and are, therefore, not offered for sale at this time." This is the first time I've actually seen an official name attached to GCV. So I guess that would make it VDGCRS. That's a mouthful!

Did you register for one night or all three nights? I wasn't sure from the info if it is the same thing going on all three nights or if it is different. I really wished that they had given us more info! BTW Which night/nights are you attending?

I only registered for May 24. Since it doesn't specify that each night was different, I am assuming it will all be the same. At least I hope so. I don't want to miss out on anything good!

If you want to PM me, I will send you the website address where you can register for the event. Yes, it says that it starts at 7PM and ends at 8:30pm. It also says to "Stick around after the Member Reception to enjoy music, refreshments, and other surprises!" So I am not sure how long/late it lasts.

Honestly, I am kind of disappointed in how DVC has handled this whole member event. I mean the event starts in less than 2 weeks and we are just starting to get info on it. I talked with MS yesterday afternoon and the CM said they still had no info on it at all! She hadn't even heard of it! I have reservations at the Grand Californian for the whole weekend and I really want to know if we can attend the whole weekend or just one night as I will cancel the nights I don't need. No one at MS knew a thing about it. I am just wondering if all of the Member Events are like this.

Same here...I am hoping someone knows if all 3 events are the same event? We have booked the whole weekend, since the original postcard said to save the dates, but if it is the same thing each night, I'd like to know so I can make plans to do other things

I will be glad to be there, though!

The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa

Yuck! What a horrible name! I hate that it will be going from a "Hotel" to a "Resort". A "Resort" is something they have at Walt Disney World. So far we only have "Hotels" at Disneyland. Currently the offical name is Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

Anyways, I will be there. I will make my reservation as soon as I get the info. Im less than a mile from Disneyland so I can defently make it.

We were at DLR today but could not get specifics from a guide in the park. We are registered to attend Sat the 24th. I suppose we could try to register for another day and see if it will let us have more than one night reserved...

Thanks so much for being willing to share with those of us who can't be there (and/or who aren't even members yet like me.) I REALLY appreciate it.

My single number one question will be whether there will be an exclusive second round of sales to regular DVC membership. Then I'll know I need to go track down a small resale contract. Heck I might do that anyway!
