Our First Anniversary Trip! New Friends and Summer Nightastic Fireworks!!!

Love the picture of you guys with Darth Vader so cute!!! I hope you got a picture with Jedi Mickey.

I have to agree with you on One Man's Dream I get teary eyed in there as well. I always wanted to meet Walt Disney when I was a child as well and when I realized I wouldn't be able to devastated me too. Have you ever been to Disneyland? I was there in 2005 and did the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour and it was unbelievable. You really feel like you are walking where he did!! If you ever get there I definitely recommend it!!

I am glad that you posted pictures of One Mans Dream...I am still very bummed that it will be closed during my trip late September :sad2: I worked for WDW briefly during the summer of 2007 and one of the best parts of working there was the training, learning tons about Walt and his vision for WDW.

Great update!! The picture with you guys and Darth is awesome!!! But that Army man is creepy!!! Me no likey his creepy face! Is it super ridiculous that I teared up while READING your trip into One Man's Journey?!?! Yes, I really did. Hahaa so funny about the love for Zoro!!! Little known Jojo fact!!!! Glad you had a great weekend mama!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

I've actually never been to Disneyland. :( I want to get there someday, but I think it's gonna take me a while to convince DH. That sounds like an awesome tour, I'm glad you got to do it!! :goodvibes

I didn't know that it was going to be closed... :( I'm bummed for you too. That's so cool that you got to work there!! I'm jealous, I have a secret (ok, not so secret!) dream to be a CM... We'll see if it ever happens!

I know, the Green Army Men are kinda weird... I think it would be much cooler if they just painted their faces green! And I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you teary, I just remember being SO moved just walking around there... Ok, the Zorro thing is so funny, because I had almost forgotten about it, and then I saw the costume and all these memories came rushing back! It was hysterical! I don't think any of my closest non-DIS friends even know about it, but I'm sure my mom remembers that obsession!

I love love love how you are turning your DH into a Disney fan. I am trying to do this myself, but haven't had much luck as of yet. I am in awe of your talents :worship: lol The Star Wars day looks like it was a ton of fun! What a great way to spend your anniversary.

I feel the same way you do about how amazing Walt truly was - and I am sad that he died before I was born so I never got a chance to meet him (lol!) Disney has been a big part of my life since the day I was born too, so I definitely understand why you get teary! It is nice that someone understands how I feel! I have a great book about Walt's life, and I am so amazed at every page! If you like to read (and haven't read all of his biographies) I could recommend it for you.

Hijack over now, I love your TR!

We love  a Man's Dream. I hope they don't close it before we get down there in August. We missed it during Feb. vacation, just not enough time in the day to do everything.

Enjoying your report. We are planning on SWW for next year. It'll be our second one. Was the Darth Vader area semi-covered? I know that the year we went, it was just outside the lower level of Tatooine Traders with the clay adobe wall as the only backdrop, in the full-on sun. He HAD to be roasting!! This setup looks much nicer for him and the guests.

Thanks for the compliment, but I really think that it's just the magic of WDW that's affecting him... :goodvibes I love it, though! Star Wars Weekend was a ton of fun. And I'll definitely take that book recommendation! I'm definitely a bookworm. I'm SO glad you're enjoying the TR!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

I hope it's open for you too!! We didn't get to do it last year, and I made a point of dragging DH to it this time. I'm so glad that I did!

Hello, and :welcome: Thanks for stopping by. :) Yes, it was definitely a great set up. It was by the Boba's Bounty store (the AFI memorabilia store) which is behind the Great Movie Ride, I believe. The queue was pretty shaded, and the backdrop for Darth was very cool. He still took breaks every half hour, because it was terribly hot out and I'm sure his costume is an oven! The line moved pretty quickly though, and I'm so glad we got to get a pic with him! :goodvibes

While we were walking over to our ADR, we saw some awesome characters walking around.

FirstAnniversary181.jpg

We saw Chebacca too, but the line was insanely long so we had to satisfy ourselves with a pic from the sidelines.

FirstAnniversary182.jpg

We also took a couple pics of the signage.

We made our ADR at 50's Prime Time with a few minutes to spare.

FirstAnniversary188.jpg

Here's DH being a 50's dad in the waiting area... (I think he's drinking an imaginary martini.)

FirstAnniversary190.jpg

We were seated pretty quickly, and had a little corner table. Here's our view:

We had a really great server, and the food was delicious! I had a KILLER peanut butter and jelly milkshake. It was amazing!!! I had the chicken pot pie, and DH had some sort of grilled chicken sandwich. He said it was good, and I really liked the chicken pot pie too. Our server was great, he kept acting along to the words of the tv show clips, because he knew them all by heart! He also brought us an anniversary cupcake! :)

FirstAnniversary197.jpg

It was so yummy!

After we ate we headed back out to where we saw Jedi Mickey. We got in line, and then Jedi Mickey had to go on break. :worried: So, Leia Minnie and Darth Goofy came out and we stayed in line, because I figured those would be good pics too. The line was taking a long time, and moving kinda slowly. As we got up to the front, Leia Minnie and Darth Goofy had to take their turn for a break, and look who came back!!!

:woohoo: :woohoo:

And, the coolest R2 unit ever, R2-MK!!!! :)

FirstAnniversary200.jpg

I was so happy!!! We got our pics, and it made an already awesome day that much better.

We walked around for a while longer, and saw some streetmosphere performers. I love these guys!

FirstAnniversary202.jpg

We shopped for a bit, then made our way back to the hotel to get ready for our Anniversary dinner!!!

I am so happy that you got your picture with Jedi Mickey!!! And I love that R2D2!!!

OMGosh, that R@MK is adorable!!! I have never seen him, he must be new! I want one!

Aw, thanks! :goodvibes and I know, isn't he the coolest?!?!

I LOVE R2MK! I saw a blurb about him on the Disney Parks blog a few months ago (he is new for this year) and I immediately knew that I had to find him on this trip! I've always loved R2D2 anyway, so when I saw R2MK I flipped! He's just so darn cool... :goodvibes

aww great pics as usual...I am excited to try out 50's again this upcoming trip its always a lot of fun there :goodvibes I have to say Jedi Mickey is pretty adorable

Thank you! Isn't Jedi Mickey the cutest? I think he may be my favorite Mickey. (after Sorcerer Mickey, anyway...) :smickey:

Oh, I forgot to mention something. While DH and I were in line waiting for the bus back to Pop, a family was in front of us with a little boy. He noticed DH's lightsaber, and got really excited and said, "I made a green one, wanna see?!" Of course we said we did, so he pulled his green lightsaber out of his mom's bag and proceeded to have a lightsaber battle with DH while we were waiting. I was laughing hysterically, but his mother was embarrassed, I could tell. He then said, "I got collectibles too!" and pulled them out for us to see as well. We ooh'ed and aah'ed and gave them their due admiration. His mom got irritated though, and said "That's enough, I'm sure they don't want to see that stuff." He would've talked to us the whole bus ride, but his mom made sure to sit far away from us so he would calm down. I felt bad for getting him into trouble, but then I though, what's the big deal? The kid was having fun, and obviously we weren't bothered... Oh well. Some people just take things differently, I guess.

After we chilled at Pop for a bit, it was time to go to Narcoossee's for our anniversary dinner. I was SO excited about this, not just because it was our first anniversary, and because we were at WDW, but also because I was going to meet my DIS pal princessallegra!!! We got to know each other during my honeymoon TR, and we realized that we are almost wedding date twins (one day off) and that we were going to be at the World at the same time! So cool! We went to the TTC, and then got on the monorail to the GF. It was bittersweet pulling into the GF station, knowing that we weren't staying there this time. It got to feel like home after our honeymoon, and we had missed it. I think it will always hold a special place in our hearts. We walked into the lobby and we both sighed in happiness. Since we had some time, we checked out the stores, and I fell in love with the fluffiest, cutest Pluto I've ever seen! I was trying to be good about spending money though, so I decided to wait to see if I still wanted him after dinner. (I think you can all guess what the answer to that was.) ;) DH bought me a really cute pair of Mickey earrings though. :goodvibes We got to Narcoossee's with a few minutes to spare, and we were sitting down waiting for our buzzer to buzz when I heard, "There they are!" and Allegra and her DH came up to us. We hugged, and exchanged gifts, and then proceeded to talk a mile a minute until our buzzer went off. We said we would meet up after dinner, and then DH and I went off to be seated. We got to our table and saw that it was covered in Mickey confetti!! I LOVE Mickey confetti!

FirstAnniversary204.jpg

Our server then told us that another couple had just celebrated an anniversary and Mickey had bought them champagne. She asked us if we thought that was a good idea, and of course we agreed! (Gotta love that Mickey Mouse. He's so generous!) Our server came back with our champagne, and personalized menus! So cool. DH had the tuna, and I had the scallops with garlic and mushroom risotto. It was absolutely heavenly! We decided to split the cheesecake for dessert (bad idea. We each should have gotten one. It was SO good!)

FirstAnniversary207.jpg

Here we are, stuffed to the gills and SO happy!

FirstAnniversary208.jpg

princessallegra and her DH finished up about the same time as we did, so she and I headed to the ladies' room, where we bonded over having the same sort of lip balm (It's the little things, ya know...) :goodvibes and DH took some pics of the lake while he was waiting.

FirstAnniversary211.jpg

FirstAnniversary213.jpg

We walked back towards the monorail station and confirmed our plans to do late EMH at MK. We got on the monorail to start our adventure (but not before I bought that awesome Pluto! I promptly christened him Fluppy Pluto, and we became very close...) On to MK! :goodvibes

Beautiful update ! As always love the pictures, great that you all met. That's always so much fun I had a Dis meet with a friend from Australia this past May and if all goes as planned she, her DH, me, my DH and another Disser from Chicago will be doing MNSSHP this Oct together. Can't wait to meet you both too :)

So excited to see an update :goodvibes I love the little extra touches at WDW...it was very thoughtful of Mickey lol

It is funny how people worry about their children annoying others, but my family is all "talkers" so we love it when others want to chat :rotfl:

Hi again!
Great updates! The Star Wars weekend looks like so much fun! I am not a huge star wars fan, but it is cool to see something different at Disney. I am glad to see that you enjoyed 50's Prime Time Cafe and Narcoossee's!

And I did not forget about the book! It is called The Animated Man: A Life of Walt Disney and it is by Michael Barrier. Very interesting read!

Hiiiiii Jojo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great update!!!! lol. Omg of course, here's another crazy coincidence! We had the SAME table at 50's PT!!! So funny!!! I'm like hey that view looks totally familiar!! :rotfl: I had totally forgotten about the lip balm, that was such a great moment. It's so nice to read this, it's making me a lil teary. I'm a nerd, I know. Can't wait to read more!! Love you mama!!!!

Hey Everybody, sorry I've been MIA, but I was in the hospital last weekend. I had a severe tooth abscess, so I've been loopy on painkillers this whole week. I go to see the oral surgeon tomorrow, so I'll probably be out of commission for a while again, but I just wanted to let you all know that I'm thinking about you and I miss you. Hopefully I'll be able to update again soon. Cross your fingers!
