Our First Anniversary @Sports, Old Key West AND Pop! TR finished, new TR started!!

Looks like you guys had a really nice day soaking up all the Disney atmosphere. We haven't done the shows at AK in quite some time and think we are due. Glad to hear you enjoyed Nemo. That 4th pic of the Osborne Lights is too cute with the Mickey balloon in there. Nice little touch. ;)

Great update! Wow the Osbourne lights look even more amazing than I rememeber. I hope I get the chance to check them out again at some point! I want to see the Nemo show again too, glad you liked it. I saw it once on our last trip but we got nosebleed standing seats and couldn't really enjoy it because we were so tired.

You are def. due to see the shows! Esp Nemo, if you've never seen it. The shows are probably my favorite part of AK.
And I didn't even notice that picture w/the Mickey balloon until I posted them here. It is pretty cool, esp since it wasn't even on purpose!
Thanks for reading!

You know...after seeing the Nemo show, I always get that song in my head "BBBBBBBBBBig BBBBBBBBBlue WWWWorld!"

Great update Hillary!! We loved the Nemo Musical too! I thought it was great and the people in it were soooo talented!! We missed FOTLK this past trip :( It used to be my favorite show, Nemo may have taken over that spot now!!

Wednesday December 17, 2008

Another great day at Disney! And because I'm a weirdo, I have to add in that I remembered the date, the 17th was the day we left to go back home on our honeymoon, a year ago. crazy? yes.

Our plans for the day were to go to DHS (MGM!!!). We were up around 8, as usual, and DH wanted to go work out some, and though I have gotten into it now, that was the LAST thing I was interested in on my vacation! So he went to run and then go to the gym, so I decided to take a nice relaxing bath! Have I mentioned how much I LOVED the bathroom at OKW?? It was so big, and had tons of storage space under the sink, in cabinets, which I'm sure you all know, is rare at Disney hotels. I'm a bit OCD about having messes all over this place and DH gets tired of me complaining about keeping our HOTEL room clean, but I'm a freak, can't help it. So I loved that bathroom, and the big tub, and just having SPACE!

Eventually he got back, and we got ready to head out to DHS! We went across to the bus stop, and had to wait a little bit so I occupied myself taking pictures of BEAUTIFUL Old Key West!

And one of us!

I took this one, looking from the bus stop back across to our building so you can see how CLOSE we were!

Finally we got on a bus and got to DHS!

Took some pictures...

Since we still had yet to ride it, we knew our plan was to go STRAIGHT to Toy Story Mania to get Fastpasses, possibly go ahead and ride if the line wasn't too long. We got back there and the line was at least 70 minutes long, which it was ALL week long. So we got Fastpasses, even though they weren't until after 6. Those in hand, we walked around some, with nothing we HAD to do. Towards the Animation courtyard, I decided we HAD to do the Animation Tour, ANOTHER new thing for us. We really did good this trip finding new things that we'd never done before, especially for me, since I've been dozens of times!

Pictures outside...

We had to wait in line for about 10 minutes before entering. This was really cute, I liked the video and walking through, it was cool to do it once, though I don't know that I'd do the tour again. At the end we saw that a few people were waiting for the animation class, and I knew we had to do it, so we decided to keep an eye out for it and walk around some.

We were playing with the little What Character are you things. I did it first, and when it took my picture I THOUGHT I was looking into the right place. Apparently, I was wrong. It ended up with this HILARIOUS picture, and I had this crazy smile on my face. It was basically shining down on me, and DH said I looked like a girl in a religious music video. We were about to DIE laughing. It was one of those you had to be there moments I guess, but we were hysterical. Unfortunately, I didn't know that the picture wouldn't come back so I didn't get a picture of it in time. So then DH decided to do it, and again, thought we were doing it right and this is what we ended up with of him...

011-2.jpg

seriously cracked us up. So we decided I needed to do it again to recreate mine so we'd have matching crazy pictures....

012-2.jpg

not near as funny the second time, but it was pretty much the same thing.

I was Cinderella by the way...

009-2.jpg

moving on. We walked around some more, looked at the other little areas and then went up to wait for the class. By the time it started there were quite a few people waiting and I don't think all of them were able to draw. But we stood up near the door so we got in!

This was SO FUN! Our "teacher" was awesome...she was younger and just had an awesome sense of humor. We drew Pluto. I laughed the whole time...because I had a feeling that DH would NOT be good, at all. And I was right. He kept trying to cover up his "work" so that I couldn't "copy" him. so funny. After we were done we couldn't stop laughing about how he drew Pluto, yet it looked more like ANOTHER Disney character, rather than Pluto.

Who does it REALLY look like? lol.

After that amazing experience, we had some time before our reservation at Sci-Fi Drive In, so we decided to run do The Great Movie Ride. It really does need some updating, but I love it all the same...

I really like this picture..

As we got off the ride it was right at 1:30, our time to eat. So we hussled back there and checked in. I ran to use the restroom, and then we had to wait maybe 10 minutes to get in. We were seated up in very front, all the way on the left side. We were the drivers, and had an older couple behind us. We both already pretty much knew what we wanted...I'd eaten there years ago and had heard reviews and knew that really the only thing worth getting was a cheeseburger, and since it really wasn't much more to get one there than a CS at lunch, I was sold. Plus I just really wanted DH to eat there!

normal_DSC00332.JPG

I wasn't a big fan of our waitress...she really wasn't outright rude? Just NOT friendly, and a bit aburpt? And I was kinda mad she didn't even say anything about our anniversary pins. I know they don't have to, but I guess you get used to hearing "congrats" all over the place, and esp in a restaurant, where the possibility of a free dessert exists...we got nothing. So not a big deal though. The food was good, it was much better than a CS burger would have been. DH had fries with his, I had the melon salad which was REALLY good. Before we left I heard our waitress tell the people behind us that she isn't a regular waitress at Sci Fi, she actually works at Prime Time Cafe and had just picked up a few extra shifts. TOTALLY made sense...her attitude made sense, after knowing that is where she works!

rest-scifi2.jpg

We enjoyed it, it was nice getting in out of the crowds and to sit and relax for awhile. We would definitely go there again! :thumbsup2

After we ate, we of COURSE had to go to the Muppets. DH wouldn't have it any other way. When we came out we had to walk around the store with the Muppets stuff, it is one of our favorite stores in Disney. DH found a tshirt he had to have, it had the 2 hecklers in the balcony, Statler and Waldorf on it, and it said something about better being old than dead, I don't remember. He loved it. Unfortunately all they had left was smalls and mediums, we even asked them to check in the back. boooo. He wanted it so bad, but I told him we would look in the other stores (we never saw it again), and we would be back in a few months and would check back then.

Once we left there, we knew there wasn't a whole lot else we needed to do....I love having that "we still have the rest of the week, we'll be back" attitude! We had decided to go over to MK that night to see Spectromagic and Wishes, so we didn't want to stay until our fastpasses for TSM, so we headed over to see how long the wait was. It said an hour I believe, but, we couldn't see a line through the window and it was much longer when we were there in October so we thought it might be shorter. We went in, and did end up waiting close to an hour, but we decided we didn't really care, and we didn't want to miss a chance riding! The wait went by pretty fast, we took pictures and talked and soon enough we were getting on!

026-2.jpg

030-2.jpg

Now, do we remember how I beat DH's butt at Buzz Lightyear earlier in the week?! He was SO sure he would beat me again at TSM, like the first time we rode. I was on the right. He is our score.

031-2.jpg

That's right!!!! I killed him. hahahaha.

Pictures at the end...

034-2.jpg

I LOVE that ride. love it.

After we left there we started heading out, but I asked DH if he wanted to ride Tower of Terror before we left. We went to check out the wait and it was like, 5 minutes. So I waited at the end for him. I didn't even see his picture come up...and then he came out. He ended up being in this car FULL of people. I was seeing all these half full ones come out, and then somehow he had to be in the one full of a Brazilian tour group, wearing bright yellow tshirts, and he was in the back. You couldn't even see him. nice.

On the way out we stopped to see these guys....

036-2.jpg

035-2.jpg

My parents had loved them when they were there after Thanksgiving, and demanded that we watch them. We were ready to leave then, so we watched for a few minutes and then headed out to get a bus to Magic Kingdom for the evening!!!

Sounds like another great day!!! I love all your pictures!! BTW, :cool1: Yea Hillary for beating DH at TSM!!!! TSM is a lot easier then Buzz Lightyear!! We love it!!!!

Your Pluto is great! And so is your DH's....Goofy, is it? My drawings always look more like his than yours, unfortunately!
I would SO rather be eating a Sci Fi cheeseburger than this lame granola bar and carrot stick lunch I have. It looks amazing. I just texted DBF and told him we have to go out for cheeseburgers tonight!

I read your entire report. I love you Christmas Disney decorations they are so cute. Makes me wish we could have Christmas twice a year. You were at Disney on my wedding anniversary 12/17, it was our 20th. We were going to go down but had gone the last year for our 19th and a long weekend in April so we did not. I hope you and your husband have many, many more celebrations at WDW. I am getting ready to go down in April for my 40th B-day and your trip report is making me sooo excited to go. Your drawing gets an A+, hubby will give him an A. Can't wait to read more, thanks for posting.

Thanks! I was SO PROUD of beating him, lol! I think I just got lucky this trip, beating him so many times. I NEVER win. Thanks for reading!

Great update! No rockin roller coaster? :confused3

lol, nope! I don't ride the roller coasters and stuff, DH will. But he has ridden it before and just didn't love it. Crazy, I know! Thanks for reading!

great update! You totally killed DH on TSM!! I never win against my DH.

Thanks!!! :cool1:

Lol, we actually thought it looked like Tigger but hey, I can see Goofy too! crazy.

It WAS a good cheesburger. We're fans, so we are picky about our burgers and it was GOOD. I hope you got one! lol.

First, CONGRATS on 20 years!! :goodvibes Have fun for you bday too, having bdays there is AWESOME. My mom had her 50th there this year, it was awesome. Thanks for reading!!

When I left off, we were headed over to MK for the evening. We wanted to see Spectromagic, because it wasn't going to be going on again for a few days, the night before we left, I think...bc of the MVMCCP's. So I wanted to get it in before then. And I was excited too, because we didn't get to see the Castle Lighting during our honeymoon the year before, and I really wanted to. So we would make it in time for that as well. We got on a bus to TTC from MGM, and then the monorail. While we were waiting for the monorail I heard quite a few people talking about how they were going to see the parade too, since they wouldn't get another chance for a few days, so I figured it was going to be really packed!

When we got to MK we headed straight towards the castle. Our plan for the night was just to hang out and see all the entertainment...the lighting show, then Spectromagic, and then Wishes. There were already tons of people hanging around, I think it was maybe 45 minutes until the Castle Lighting. We found an empty space along the fence facing the castle and I decided to sit on the ground for awhile and rest my legs. And of course take pics...

045-2.jpg

We were getting a little hungry, and had some sandwiches in our bag, but decided we wanted something more fun. Being the Disney expert, I knew just where to send DH off too. He came back with one of these for me...

Dole Whip!

And he got a Coke float for himself. Both yum. We hung out and talked, there were SO many people there. Eventually the show started!

It was so cute. I loved it.

Then I entertained myself for awhile just taking pictures of the castle. Because I'm a bit obsessed. I was playing with the settings on the camera and ended up with this neat picture.

059-2.jpg

We decided to go over and use the restroom before we settled in for the parade and fireworks, so we hung on to each other because it was SO crowded, and walked over by Casey's to the restrooms. When we walked back over, we decided it was far too crowded inside the hub where we were. We talked about going over to Frontierland, but I really wanted to see the parade/fireworks in front of the castle with the lights, since I hadn't in awhile. So we went to the left side, knowing the parade wouldn't come right in front of us but we could still see over to the other side of the street, and as the parade went across the bridge to Liberty Square. We didn't have to wait too long for this!

After it was over of course there was a mad rush of everyone leaving the park. We decided to have a seat and just let them go. We sat and talked, and watched the castle and all the people for awhile. I have to admit I love to people watch at Disney. So we didn't move for a good 30 minutes or so. We decided to make a quick restroom stop again, I took a few pictures over near the restroom/Casey's.

161.jpg

We slowly made our way out, walking through the stores on our way out. We got to hear the "Kiss Goodnight" as we walked, which I love. I heard it for the first time on our honeymoon last year.

I had to take some last minute pictures on the way out...

By the time we got out to the bus stop, there weren't a whole lot of people out there. When we got in the line for OKW, there were maybe 20 or so people in line. And two wheelchairs. So, I figured that we might have to wait for another bus, since the wheelchairs would take up alot of room. Well the 2 wheelchair people had a HUGE group of people come up and get in line w/them. Definitely waiting for another bus. So the first bus came after maybe 10 minutes. Then another 2 wheelchairs come along. With another group of people. I was getting aggravated. We ended up having to wait for yet another bus, if I remember correctly. I never complain about wheelchairs or anything like that. I just dont, there is no reason to, because I am sympathetic. But, I do get aggravated when things like that happen. I don't think it's fair to make people keep waiting after 30-45 minutes. I understand that the wheelchairs have to get one. But their family should have to wait just like everyone else, no? Maybe not all the time, but when it's busy and people have been waiting for awhile maybe. I dont know. Moving on...

When we got back to OKW that night we had to ride through the whole resort! We realized then just how big it was! I dont even remember how many stops there were, but there were ALOT. We were the very last one, being the Hospitality House. wow. We did figure out that the first stop was fairly close to the HH, so next time we knew to just get off there and walk further back. OKW was just beautiful though, so I didn't mind too much, having to ride so long bc we got to see more of the resort!

I dont really have alot of notes for the rest of the night, so we probably just hung out for a little bit...we loved sitting out on our balcony and just talking at night. And hit the bed, ready for another Disney day. Our plans? SWIMMING!! And doing some domestic chores...

Sounds like a great evening.
Oh! Your pictures made me miss Disney World sooooo much. Agh! But they're really beautiful. I especially like that multiple castle shot.
Only 3 weeks til your next trip. :cool1: How lucky!

I love the MK at night. My favorite is the twinkling lights in the trees in Fantasyland. :goodvibes
