Mh dh and I were really looking forward to go going to our fave chain restaurant Don Pablo's this afternoon.

Imagine our suprise when when we pulled up and ALL the signs were removed, no cars in the parking lot , and a letter posted on the patrons and employees about the restaurant being closed. Don Pablos was our fave Mexican restaurant here...*sighs*

I wonder why they closed up ? I also wonder why it was done in such haste because I saw it was open no less then 4 days ago when I was going to work.

Has anyone else's Don Pablo's closed down?

I sure hope ours has not closed down, we love it!! We haven't been in a couple months but it is one of our favorites.

Nope,ours is still open.
But personally,I don't really like it,so I don't go much anyway.

Ours closed. I'm hoping it's just renovations. :(

When ours closed down a few years back, we mourned until we found one on International Drive in Orlando. It's a couple miles up from the Upside-Down building. We either go there or Chevy's when we go to WDW. Best thing about it is their fresh tortillas. (I guess that's a big drive for you from Chicago, but at least something to look forward to when you go to WDW).

Quite a few of them closed rather abruptly in the past few weeks. I believe they have been experiencing financial issues.

The same thing happened to us at our favorite restaurant, Bertucci's. The kids & I met DH there for dinner one night, there were people in the restaurant eating and a scribbled note was on the door that said they were closed as of 6pm that evening :confused3 DH went in to ask, and was told that they were closing immediately, they had just waited until the evening staff came in to let them know and were only serving the people that had arrived before the announcement

We ate there several times a month and really miss it :sad1: but I still feel bad for the employees who showed up for their Friday night shift to be told they no longer had a job :sad2:

Doing an online search shows the parent company declared bankruptcy.

I eat there once in a while, I found it after they closed chi chi on me

Times are tough:guilty: Dining out seems to be the first thing people cut back on.

Me, too! I loved Chi-Chis!!! I like Don Pablo's a lot, but it's no Chi-Chis.

I sure hope ours isn't closed. We're supposed to go in about 2 weeks.

I thought you were going to say it was the Taco Tico!

We had a couple of chains do that around here. I took my assistant manager to Tia's Tex Mex for lunch one day, and the next day it was closed.

I just looked up Don Pablos and the other one I was going to mention, Hops, is owned by the same company. I miss Hops-the closest one is an hour away.

Well it looks like ours closed down. I told my DH I had some very sad news for him, he was devestated! :)

When we lived in CT our favorite restaurant, On The Border closed and now this! Maybe we should start eating at some better restaurants!

Our Hops closed a few years ago. Don Pablo's is right next door and was opened as of Thursday when I rode by.

Hmm, I'll have to check and see if ours is still open. They used to have GREAT food and DH and I went there once every week or two for a couple of years (really!) but their food really went downhill over the last few years.

Ours closed down too. My twin and I drove past it last night and the lights were still on inside...it was kinda creepy! I'll miss their food even though I didn't eat there too much! :(

Wow

The on the border and Don Pablos near us are still hopping. In fact the On the Border was at an hour wait last week. (Granted its a small place, but I wouldn't wait an hour!)

Weirdly enough, all kinds of restaurants are opening up (brand new) in our area. We've seen a Cheesecake factory, Brio's, Tai Pei, Cheeburger Cheeburger, Peace a Pizza, Chic Fil A and a Baja Fresh all come up in about a years time in one plaza! There are still a few buildings under construction as well and they are going to be restaurants as well.
