Our "Elf" appeared today.

Day one of Elf on a shelf.

The kids named him Buddy(a la ELF that they have watched a bunch of times)
My 2 youngest(3 and 6) are WAAAAY into it. of course the 6 year old added "he creeps me out a little- I mean his clothes are cute but that face "

I think he'll like him when he starts bringing some surprises. Tonite it's just a trip up the light fixture for Buddy. I was caught off guard but in the midst of Chaos today decided we needed a little intervention- so out came the ELF.

We're doing this for the first time this year, and our elf showed up on the shelf on Thanksgiving night. My DD7 completely believes, and actually seems to be pretty concerned about whether she'll be on the naughty or nice list. She's so excited to look for him each morning. So far he's perched in the Christmas tree in her room one night, and last night was reading Twas the Night Before Christmas. Looking forward to what he'll do next!

Does he leave a note for your dd? I'm leaving notes so they get a little insight into his life.

Or should I just prop him up someplace and create a little mischief?

This is the 1st year we are doing this too, DD4, DD3 & DD1(in 4 days) we have 3 elves (5" annalee ones from the Hallmark store) They came with a letter from Santa on Thanksgiving morning on top of the TV, the next day 2 were swinging on the chandelier one was hanging from it, today one was hanging from the curtain rod with one hanging on the first and the 3rd hanging on the 2nd. They came with names - Jingle Jangle & Belle. The girls are starting to get into finding them. So we will see how it goes....

Ours came Thanksgiving morning also, he left a clue for the kids to go find him. They called him Nick (as in St Nick) and they're both really getting excited about finding him. I caught DD4 lecturing DS6 the other day that Nick was watching him so he has to be nicer to her
