It is at this time, my fellow disers, that I must report to you a griveous crime that I comitted. I did not take any pictures of lunch OR dinner on Wednesday day. To make this up to you, I have decided to review lunch and dinner without pictures, and then in this same post, also review our dinner at Cali Grille. I hope that you are all able to forgive me for this dis-appointment (hahaha get it

??)
So on Wednesday morning, we decided to do something we'd never done before at Disney and check out a water park! We headed to Typhoon Lagoon and had an awesome morning (think we grabbed cereal/yogurt at Captain Cooke's on the way). Our favorite ride by far was the Crush n' Gusher. I was afraid that it would be too intense, but it was awesome! It's basically like a roller coaster and a water slide had a baby. Anyways, after all this sliding and sunning, we were HUNGRY!! So we headed over to WPE across the street at DTD. If you've never been there, it's sort of a CS/TS hybrid, although it counts as a CS credit. You order at the cash register but then the server brings your meal out to your table. I ordered the warm turkey melt with cheddar, caramelized onions and arugula. This was comfort food at it's finest, and I ate every last bite (the fries were good too!) I give it a 4. DH went straight for the bacon wrapped meatloaf and boy did he love it! He gives it a 4.5. I'm not the hugest fan of the meat-on-meat combo, but I tried a bite and even I was really impressed! It was slathered in delicious bbq sauce. For dessert I grabbed a chocolate chip cookie (which I ate another day and loved) and DH went for the frozen yogurt. You could get toppings on it so he went for brownie pieces. This was really tasty too. All in all, we decided that WPE is awesome in general, and even better if you have a counter service credit to use (which we actually didn't

)
Dinner that night was at the much anticipated Le Cellier, one of our absolute FAVORITES from last year. Unfortunately, we had eaten a huge lunch at 2 PM, and so by our reservation time at 6 we were still about two hours away from being hungry again. In fact, we were fulllll. We arrived at LC about five minutes after our reservation time (when we had walked by Soarin' the wait time was 5 minutes... how could we resist!?) and were seated within five minutes. DH and I both went with the chedder cheese soup for an app. We both gave this a 3. It's super cheesy by really doesn't taste like much else, its a little bland. It did make an awesome dip for the pretzel bread though. For dinner, we both ordered the filet with risotto. Last year this had been out of this world. Don't know if it was our full bellies or just unrealistic expectations, but this year we thought they were just ok. We both gave them a 3. DH found the risotto super salty. I didn't mind that too much but it just didn't seem like a two credit entree to me. For dessert I wanted the smores but the waiter said they only had those at lunch. I was pretty disappointed and took the cheese plate to go, figuring I could nibble on it one morning for breakfast, but never ended up eating it. DH went for the trio of chocolate but can't offer an opinion because he barely took a bit. Final word on Le Cellier: it's got some good offerings but I honestly don't think it's worth 2
DDP credits (it doesn't compare to some of the other signature restaurant). We give LC a 3 and would return, but next time for lunch. Only one credit, smaller portions, and I could get the delish smores for dessert!
Thursday during the day we went to Discovery Cove. It was AWESOME!! This was my bday present from DH and I absolutely loved it. It was so relaxing, meeting the dolphins was so cool, and I loved the unlimited drinks, snacks, and lunch. The lunch food was only decent quality, but the snacks were good and the drinks were yummy (esp the margaritas!) Feel free to PM me if you have questions about Discovery Cove!
We had a 750 reservation at California Grille after our day at DC. We had a little while before we needed to be at dinner, so we stopped at the Tambu Lounge next to Ohana to have a pre-dinner drink. At our Ohana dinner a few nights before, DH had wanted a Lapu-Lapu, but they had been all out of pineapples! And what is a Lapu Lapu without a pinapple, I ask you?? So DH got his beloved Lapu and I ordered the delicious pomegranate margarita (I think this was the flavor??) Whatever it was, it was good! Sweet but with that bite of tequila. Here we are enjoying our drinks.
We made our way over to the Contemporary on the monorail, arriving at the check in desk on the bottom floor of the Contemporary just about 750. We were immediately brought up to the restaurant in the elevator and given a buzzer. After about ten minutes, we were shown to our table. I was a little disappointed to see that it wasn't a window seat, but oh well. Our waiter was very friendly and professional. We ordered a bottle of the Rosa Regale, which I had never had before. Warning: I would not order an entire bottle of this. It's delicious but wayyyy too sweet to drink more than a glass of. Here I am with our wine, and bread for good measure.
For an app, I ordered the Barbeque Chicken Pizza
I will probably get flamed all over the place for this, but I wasn't the hugest fan of this. It was bland but also had a bit of a wierd taste to it. It wasn't horrible but I definitely wouldn't order it again. I give it a 3.
I can't find the name of DH's app online, but it was basically a zucchini and cheese mixture in some sort of phyllo dough/wonton wrapper bussiness. He thought this wasn't bad, but not great either. He gave it a 3.5
For dinner I ordered the pork with polenta. I wasn't the biggest fan of this either. The pork was a bit bland and I wasn't in love with the polenta either... although that's my own fault because I don't generally like goat cheese (my hope was that I would get over it because I love polenta, but it didn't happen.) I give this a 3, but if I liked goat cheese it would probably get a 3.5
DH ordered the snapper
He gives it a 3, he thought it was a little bland.
We hoped that dessert would be better. I went for the Valrhona Chocolate Cake.
Unfortunately, I didn't like this at all. I'm sure you've noticed by now that I am a huge chocolate fan, but I just didn't like it. Instead of being cake-y it was very dense, almost like a ganache. It just wasn't what I expected or what I wanted. I give it a 2.5
DH went with the Bananas and Caramel
He didn't like his dessert either, saying that it was just too sweet.
We finished dinner right about 10 and were able to go out and watch the fireworks from the deck. This was nice but nothing beats the view from the MK itself!
All in all, we give Cali Grille a 3. We were definitely not as impressed as we thought we would be. With that said, the food wasn't bad, just not great, the service was very good, and the atmosphere was very nice (if a little loud!). We might return in the future to give it another go, since so many people have reported awesome experieces here, but definitely won't be returning anytime soon!
Next up... will we hate Sci-FI as much as most Disers seem to?? Stay turned to find out
