I had heard so many negative things about the Sci-Fi Dine In, but the atmosphere sounded so cool that we just had to check it out! So Friday morning we set out to DHS. But I was hungry WAY before our ADR so we stopped in Starring Roles to pick up some muffins. I got chocolate chocolate chip and DH went with blueberry.
These were really just average muffins, nothing special. The thing about them that was really frustrating was the fact that after I ate my muffin, I was actually more hungry than I was before I ate the muffin!! Oh well, our Sci-Fi ADR was coming up soon!
We rode TSM with about a 15 minute wait, did RnR, and the new Star Tours (which was awesome!). We checked in for our 12:35 PM ADR right on time and had about a 15 minute wait for our table. When I checked in, I specifically requested a car, and the hostess said that anyone who had a reservation was guaranteed a car. Awesome

We were shown to the backseat of a car in the row right in front of the screen. Another family was in the first two rows. The waitress came over and thought it was hilarious that the newlyweds were seated in the backseat. She asked us to please behave ourselves, as their were children in the car
On the dining plan, you could order pretty much an non-alcoholic beverage on the menu. I got a Cherry Sprite and DH got a Diet Coke. Our strategy for food was to order really basic dishes that are difficult to mess up. So for appetizers, we split the spinach artichoke dip and onion rings.
These were yummy! We give them both a 4. Don't get us wrong, these are far from gourmet, but they were well executed (albeit greasy) basic appetizers. Bascially, if you like spinach artichoke dip and onion rings, you will love these!
For entrees, I went with the burger. It came with mushrooms, onions, cheese, lettuce, tomato and bacon. It was quite a mouthful!! I was only able to eat half. This pretty much tasted like a counter service burger. It was perfectly edible and good, I gave it a 3.5.
DH went with the reuben.
He says that it was a standard rueben, and gave it a 3.5. He dipped it in the horseradish sauce that came with the onion rings which worked well. He did enjoy the cucumber salad too. He give this dish a 3.5
For dessert, DH went with a chocolate shake and I went with the chocolate peanut butter cake.
My peanut butter cake was basic but good. I'm a sucker for peanut butter and chocolate so I was hooked. I certainly enjoyed it more than the Cali Grille chocolate cake! I give it a 3.5. DH didn't really enjoy his milkshake, he says that it 'wasn't anything special' (No word on what he was expecting from a chocolate milkshake

)
Overall, we would definitely return to the Sci-Fi. If you stick with basic food, you'll be fine. And the atmosphere is so different and relaxing that that's a huge part of the allure. We give Sci-Fi a 3.5 for being a nice place to grab lunch in a park that is severely lacking in lunch places! The food is fine, service was very good, and atmosphere was awesome. We will be back for lunch on our next trip to DHS!
