Our DxDP Disneymoon! 9 Days of Stuffing Ourselves Silly! Updated 10/10 Sci-Fi!!

I always go for the stir-fried noodles at Captain Cooks. I will have to try the nachos next time. :thumbsup2

You and your DH are so cute! Congratulations! Count me in. We are looking at the DxDP for Dec. I can't wait for more!

Thank you!! The DxDP is a lot of food but a lot of fun! I feel like it would be more enjoyable during December than September... It was just too much food + heat, not a good combo!

Looking forward to hearing about Ohana! I've never been there but hoping to schedule it in for the next trip!

Really enjoying your reviews too! Do you recognize us at all from around the parks??

yay! I can't wait to read along.... :) I totally agree, the dining reviews are by far the most valuable advice when planning. Who cares what park, and where we're staying, I wanna know where to eat!!! :rotfl::

Glad to know know I have a reader who has their priorities straight! :rotfl2:

I always go for the stir-fried noodles at Captain Cooks. I will have to try the nachos next time. :thumbsup2

They were delish! Thanks for reading !!

'Ohana was our first night's dinner and we were excited! On our last trip it had been out of this world so we had really high hopes. We arrived about five minutes before our ADR and checked in at the podium (which has been moved from next to the restaurant to next to the stairs on the opposite side of the waiting area). We decided to grab a drink while we were waiting for the table as last time it had been quite a long wait. The waiting area was super busy and we had to wait a few minutes to even grab a table there. A nice couple sitting across from us offered to take our picture. Here we are!

We ordered drinks but before they even arrived our buzzer went off! I was pretty excited that we were seated so quickly this time, in about 15 minutes. We were shown to our table. On our last visit we had sat in the main area, off to the right of the huge grill and right in the middle of the action. This time we were seated towards the back of the room, where it was a little quieter, which was nice. Even better, we were given Just Married buttons! I was SO EXCITED because I had heard these had been discontinued. I actually had ordered my own off ebay cuz I REALLY wanted them, but I was still pumped to have our own personal, never been used Just Married Buttons :-) Here they are, along with our delicious welcome bread

DSCF0054-1.jpg

This was goooood. Definitely a solid four. I love the little pieces of pineapple in it!

Soon our cocktails arrived. Here is my sangria

DSCF0056-1.jpg

And DH's Wildberry Margarita

DSCF0055-1.jpg

The sangria was just ok. It was very wine-y and not very fruity. I'd give it a 2.5 The wildberry margarita was delicious!! We ended up ordered a few more of these over the rest of the vacation, as you will see! We give it a 4.5

The salad arrived next.

DSCF0057-1.jpg

I am not the hugest fan of salad in general (Too busy saving room for the good stuff) but the dressing on this is very good and sweet. I believe that it's supposed to be lime? We give this a 3

Next came out the potstickers and wings. These had been absolutely the best part of our meal last time and we were excited! Here they are:

DSCF0060-1.jpg

DSCF0059-1.jpg

These were fine and everything, but definitely a disappointment from last time. Just not as tasty as we remembered. A definite 3.

Here are the three sauces that came with the meat

DSCF0058-1.jpg

Sorry no pic of the meat. It's about our least favorite part of the 'Ohana dinner. Hm or maybe I should say it WAS our least fave part of the 'Ohana dinner... since we gave it a 3 (shrimp, pork, chicken, and steak, I believe??) just like the rest of the meal. Tasty but not out of the this world. Oh and here are the noodles.

DSCF0061-1.jpg

I'm not personally a fan of noodles in general and would give these a 2.5.

And here's the part of the meal we were most looking forward to!

DSCF0062-1.jpg

Once again, not quite as good as we remembered. Oh well, still yummy and a solid 4! That caramel is delish!

So while Ohana was perfectly fine, it was a disappointment for us because we remembered it as out-of-this-world. No sure if we just remembered it as better than it was, or if they've changed the recipe, or what :confused3. We will probably be back here at some point, but unfortunately for now it's a solid 3.5 and off of the must-do list!

Up next... and improptu breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe. Will we actually enjoy a meal that you can eat without ADRs :rotfl2:?? Stay tuned!

first off, congratulations! You two look very cute together!

I hope you enjoyed your entire trip. Nice start to your reviews and looking forward to the rest.

We leave in 2 weeks for our next trip and we will be eating at 'Ohanas for the first time (well, we ate there once for breakfast before) so we are hoping it is like your first trip there for us ;)

Subbing! I must say, those bagels look delicious. I haven't had a good bagel in a long time!

I love the Grand Floridian Cafe (it's one of my favorites!), so I'm hoping your meal went amazing too!

It's funny... it really seems to ring true sometimes that there's nothing like your first time! ;) I really found that with a lot of Disney things. Not that they aren't great, because they are, but nothing quite beats that first trip/meal/ride/etc. But even though it's not the first time, it's still by far better than *not* being there.

Thanks for the reviews.... love love loving them! Ohana's was one on your list I was defnetly waiting to hear about. We've done breakfast (and LOVED it) but are planning dinner here for the first time in April.

Really enjoying your reviews too! Do you recognize us at all from around the parks??

You know, I really am feeling like you look familiar... I'm thinking we must have seen you at some point during the trip!

That's pretty cool that you got the Just Married buttons! I had also bought them on ebay :rotfl: We didn't get any at check in or anything though so I think it was worth it - we had a few other couples come up to us and ask us where we got them.

Pictures of Ohanas look good! Maybe it was just that you built it up so much in your mind that it couldn't quite reach your expectations? I find that happens with a lot of things.

Congratualtions on your marriage :goodvibes

Great start to your reviews, looking forward to reading along

Congrats! great start to the reviews. Sorry you were dissapointed with o'hana. Hope we don't have the same experience. we ate there for the 1st time last year amd it was the only place my mom requested again.

I get to drive through those gates 2 weeks from today :cool1: Can't wait.

Looking forward to more reviews and pics.

We have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at GF cafe. Mixed reviews for us - not on the food - it was all good -but the service. Interested to see read your thoughts. Also, on sci fi (eating there in 2 weeks), starring rolls, kona, and via napoli. I keep going back and forth on via napoli. canceled it last year and trying to decide if i want to add it this year (if available)

Subscribing - count me in! First, congratulations on your marriage!! I'm sorry that 'Ohana didn't live up to your memories of it. We really enjoyed it when we went last year, and are taking my folks there for the first time next spring. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your reviews! :goodvibes

I'm in!! First off congrats on the wedding, you guys are adorable!! My hubby and I went to Disney for our Honeymoon and loved it!! Going back in Nov! Love the reviews so far keep them coming!!

We ate at quite a few of these places back in 2008 on our Disneymoon and will be booking several of them when we take our two children for their first trip this coming May! Can't wait to read more!

I have been hearing mixed things about O'hana for about a year now. So the last time we went we asked for the vegetarian option as a back up. I don't know if this is a big no no? We are not vegetarian:confused3 We got an amazing stir fry with veggies, rice and tofu. Our regular dinner was fine but the stir fry was great. :thumbsup2

Thank you all for reading!! I'm glad you're enjoying the reviews!

So for our first full day at WDW, the plan was to sleep in and then have a relaxing day at the Magic Kingdom! However, my body hadn't gotten the memo that I wouldn't be waking up for work this morning, and at 640 I was wide awake. I tossed and turned for a while, but finally admitted defeat and woke DH up (he's crazy and doesn't mind being woken up, I would bite his head off if he did this to me on my first day to sleep in!). We decided to head to the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast, and arrived just a few minutes after 8. We were immediately seated and soon our awesome server Tia came over to take our order. She was fabulous and gave us some of the best service of the trip! We both ordered frozen chocolate cappuccinos. YUM! If you are a Starbucks Frappuccino or Dunkin Donuts Frozen Hot Chocolate fan, you will LOVE this! If you are the type who drinks your coffee black, I would stay far, far away. This is super sweet and we we both loved them! You could also get your frozen cappuccino plain or with vanilla, hazlenut, or caramel flavoring. It counted as a drink credit on our DxDP. I inquired as to what it was made with (as cream makes me super sick) and it's actually made with yogurt! You would never guess. Here's my frozen cappuccino (with an AWESOME hidden Mickey on it!!) We give it a 4.5.

DSCF0067-1.jpg

This usually comes with whipped cream but Tia very kindly left it off without me even asking, since I had told her that cream made me sick when asking what the cappuccino was made with. So nice of her! She also brought out some fruit for us to say congrats. It was so nice to get this as opposed to a dessert because we knew that we would be dessert-ed out by the end of the week! Here it is

DSCF0069.jpg

For breakfast, DH got the steak and eggs. YUM! Dh says that it was 'amazing.' I took a bite and remember it being very flavorful. It had an herb cream sauce on it that really gave the steak and eggs a tasty and unique flavor. He gives this dish a 4.5.

DSCF0070.jpg

I got the Citrus Pancakes.

DSCF0071.jpg

These were super tasty! The pancake tasted like orange cranberry pecan, and they came with orange butter on top. Yum!! They were super sweet and fruity. They were served with a side of bacon which I requested burned and they came out perfectly. The only downside to these pancakes is that they were HEAVY. Not sure if it's a north/south thing, but I am used to light and fluffy pancakes, and I am used to being able to pack them in! I was only able to eat one and a half or two of these babies... and that's saying something!! They were still delicious, but were a little more filling than I expected them to be. I still give them a four.

All in all, we give our breakfast at Grand Floridian Cafe a 4.5. We can't believe what a hidden gem this place was! No ADR's necessary, yummy food, fabulous service, and it was blissfully quiet. We actually decided to return later in the trip for lunch... stay tuned to see if it will live up to our first visit!

But first, a quick review of Pecos Bills. We payed for this OOP, we just wanted a quick bite to eat so we wouldn't starve before dinner!. I got the chicken wrap and DH got the cheesebruger, with lots of toppings on it. Here they are

DSCF0087.jpg

DSCF0090.jpg

These were both fine. Really there isn't any other way to describe them. Typical counter service food. We give them a 3. A perfectly fine way to grab a bite to eat in the parks, but I can think of MUCH better ways to spend your meal credits!

Next up... our first signature dinner of the trip at Flying Fish restaurant! A new experience for us :goodvibes

First off, Congrats to the newlyweds! You both look so cute and happy together! :)

Sorry to hear about your 'Ohana experience. Maybe it was an off day? Hopefully it will be better next time if you both go there again. The pancakes and the iced cappuccino look amazing from the GF cafe. If I ever find myself awake early enough for breakfast, I will def. check it out.

Anyways, great reviews so far, and looking forward to the rest!

Seems like the GF Cafe certainly was a hidden gem! I think that's one of the nice things about some of the deluxe resorts, they have so many great restaurants!

I'm in too ! Congratulations on your wedding !! What a magical place for a honeymoon !

Your reviews are great and I can't wait to read more... Ohana is one that we want to try on our next trip..... GF Cafe was one of our favs. We had a breakfast and a lunch there. (the GF burger w/ the lobster is to die for!!) :thumbsup2

I'm so glad you had a great trip !!!
