Uncleromulus has only eaten offsite once since 1975--and that was IN 1975. However, on this trip we were treated to dinner by the 2 couples who we went down with--and they insisted on cafe D'Antonio. Not one to refuse a free meal, off I went!!
This is a nice restaurant located at the bottom of the main "shopping street" in Celebration, right near the water. It has a small outdoor eating area, and a moderate sized dining room inside. The tables were rather close (but NOT as close as Alfredo's!!) and you can see the kitchen area from the restaurant.
They have a fine wine list and a nice "by the glass" list also. Beers were pretty ordinary, but they do have Peroni, which will do in a pinch. The menu has pretty much of everything Italian--lots of Pastas, several more upscale fish, veal and chicken offerings, and of course, Pizza.
Mrs. U and I split the brushetta appetizer--she ordered the Salmon, while I searched in vain for some veal parmiagan. Not on the menu, it was "available" anyway--they took the veal chop they offer, pounded it down to parmiagan size, and then put on sauce and cheese!! Absolutely delicious and even made better by the "real" veal. Best I've had in a long time. Dessert was two cannoli's and coffee.
Service was excellent thruout from the team of two servers who waited on us--friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
I've been trying since we came back to place Cafe D'Antonio into the other WDW Italian restaurant mix. It's mostly like Alfredo's for menu selection, but not as crowded. It has more upscale offerings than Mama Melrose and Tony's, but more Pasta selections than Palio or Portobello. So in essence it's something like all of the others, but not exactly like any of the others.
Confused? Me too!! But if you have a car and are looking for a "different" Italian restaurant, I can recommend Cafe D"Antonio.
