We just came back from our annual week at Disney. Jan 5th to 12th and stayed at PoP Century.. We were on the basic dining plan. Quick review for anyone that cares. This is just our Table Services. Wont bore you all with the counter stuff.
Ohanas:
Ehhh not bad, not that great. First trip there. VERY rushed meal here. Server pushed us and they were not that busy. Food was hit or miss. Salad and shrimp were good. Steak also good. Rest was dried out. Banana break desert was very good. Big issues with server not being able to figure out just our portion of the bill, ie the drinks. Not sure why, but just did not get it.
Liberty Tree Tavern
Home run! Server named Mo was amazing. Food was really really good and the characters were great. Loved the down home food. Might be too heavy for some people though and really no vegetarian choices if you are worried about that. Was one of our best meals and we were not rushed at all. First Trip here also.
Tusker House (Breakfast)
Another super meal. Loved all the choices and the carving station gave it a nice brunch type meal. The juice they serve (mix of different fruits) was amazing. Lots of room to get the food at the line and the characters were again special. Rushed a little here, but we were last seating before they stopped service so I understand. Good server. He was union rep for the waiters and was complaining about the new dining plan and not having gratuity included. Seems the servers lose out and I can see why. Again, first time here.
Coral Reef:
Annual stop for us and maybe we need to rotate off this restaurant. We paid out of pocket for the apps here and was very, not worth it! Had the land/sea app and was not great. Was two small count shrimp and some overcooked bbq meat for $10. Rip off. Wife had the cod cake and said it was not bad. Dinner was Catfish for me and was decent. The toppings was too tomato based for me, but the fish and grits were very good. Wife had crab claws and loved them. Big issue with the waitress here. Our son is very picky eater. To the point where only chix fingers and fries works when we go out. Now at Ohana and Libery Tree they made them to order for him. Coral Reef said they could not as they only have one fryer. We did not argue and he was fine waiting to hit a counter service in Epcot for them. The waitress would not let up on our son to get him to try something. Listen lady, drop it!! I tried twice to nicely steer the talk away but she did not give up. Finally flat out asked her to drop the subject and just let my wife and I enjoy the meal..
LeCeller
As usual, best meal of the trip. I went with the 14oz steak and wife did the petite one. Just flat out amazing meal. Great server here and she was just so nice. Son got his chix fingers so happy there. Not rushed and just the best meal. Had the smores for desert and was really good. I wont waste 2 pages of why we love this place, but just say it was great as always.
Chef Mickeys (Breakfast)
Another annual stop for us. We do a late b-fast so we can hit parks and then go here. Kids love this place. We found the food solid. Nothing that special and they do rush you here. I understand it as they are packed and need to turn tables. The food is very basic b-fast fare. Nothing that special and I would pass if given the choice. Course the kids say this is their favorite so we go.
Mexico
Ok, 9 trips for wife and I to Disney. This was the first time (and I hope last) that I actually got up to find a manager and complain. I am in the hospitality business so I am pretty forgiving about service and some food issues. Not here.. It was that BAD!! Our waiter was flat our rude to us. He stood on the side bar and just let us wait for refills and all that. He could not answer or would answer some basic menu questions. Then when we did order (steak and combo for wife and I), no lie, 3 minutes later he has the food. I claim that no steak is ready that fast and was not our order, he just drops the plates and moves off. Well that was not my steak. It was under a heat lamp for awhile. Was very over cooked and the sauce congealed. I took one bite and got the manager. Oh yeah, we were told by the concierge that they do and can make the chix finger/fries for my son. We asked waiter and told no. When complaining to the manager, I brought this up and the manager said we make that, for sure and pointed to a family with a kid eating it. So now the server is a liar. Well we called them out on it. They would only give us a free beer or drink. No TS refund or anything!! So we ended the trip on a bad note and Mexico is soooo off the list..
