We left the hotel at 8:15am, which we assumed was plenty of time to make our 9:05am priority seating reservations at Cinderellas Castle. We unfortunately miscalculated.
We parked the car in the lot at 8:30am. Then we had to take a tram to the Ticket & Transportation Center. The monorails were broken, so then we had to wait to take the very slow boat over to the Magic Kingdom. So by the time we boarded the very slow boat it was 9:05am!!!! We were missing our very important reservation for the Cinderella Breakfast that I had to get up three mornings in a row at 6:00am to make! DH and I were undoubtedly freaking out. And it didnt help that we could have swam faster than the very slow boat we were on.
DH called Disney Dining and explained to them that we were stuck on the lake and were going to be late for our reservation. The Nice Disney lady told us they would call the restaurant and let them know we were late and they would try to fit us in for the next seating, but they couldnt guarantee anything. Fine Nice Disney Lady - you can explain to my three year old that she didnt get to see Cinderella because the damn monorail was broken and you need to take three different modes of transportation in order to get to the Magic Kingdom! We said this to each other not really to the Nice Disney Lady on the phone. (But if I didnt get into Cinderellas Castle I did plan on hunting somebody down and possibly killing them, or at least getting my money back for my deposit).
We got through security and ran to the castle holding the kids. There was no time to get a stroller because we were late, very late, for a very important date! Oh no! The castle is blocked off due to the Castle Surprise Celebration Show starting in 15 minutes. OK, well cut through the back way. DH got there first at 9:25am and they were going to seat us right away. I was about a minute behind him. He decided to play a joke on me and told me that they werent going to let us in at all! Then he saw the sad and dejected look on my face and told me he was just kidding before I broke out into tears! I hit him and we went into the castle finally to have breakfast.
There is a winding staircase and an elevator that leads to the top of the restaurant. We took the staircase because it was just more castle-like. Cinderellas Royal Table is so beautiful on the inside! Once I started to catch my breath and calm down I truly started to enjoy the magical surroundings. Everything is very posh and castle-like. The chairs are very big and covered in cushy purple fabric. There are very high ceilings and lots of beautiful stained glass windows looking out toward fantasy-land. Even the bathrooms looked castle-like with big mirrors, fancy sinks and the signs said Princes and Princesses.
Our waiter was sooo nice and polite. He kept calling us Your Highness, or Princess Kaitlynn and Princess Julie! We were finally King and Queen for a Day! We both ordered coffee not like we needed any more adreniline after our sprint to the castle. But anyway, our waiter served the coffee from a fancy silver decanter and moved it up very high and down low while pouring and didnt spill a drop (good thing). The princesses had orange juice and milk. They also start you off with a tray of yummy pastries and croussaints, a fruit cup and some kind of yogurt and granola concoction. The breakfast itself was very, very good scrambled eggs, French toast, bacon, sausage, another blueberry Danish and potato casserole. The princesses were all on the other side of the restaurant so we luckily had time to eat and relax before they came to see us. The down side of this is my poor little chickee-monkeys kept looking over at Snow White and Cinderella and asking when it was their turn.
Finally, the princesses made their way over. First was Mary Poppins who Julie (2) loved. Next was Belle, who Katie loved and Julie was scared of for some reason. Then came Snow White who they both loved and both got big red lipstick prints on their cheeks from her. Cinderella was absolutely beautiful and very nice. She spent about ten minutes talking to the girls and even danced with them. They were completely star-struck and kept telling me how nice Cinderella was all day long. While the girls were waiting to see Princess Aurora (Sleeping beauty) Julie was getting a little feisty and was hitting Katie on the head with her napkin. Princess Aurora caught her in the act and tickled her and took the weapon away in order to save her bigger sister and threatened to find a prince to come to the rescue her if necessary. The Fairy Godmother was downstairs, but it was a mob scene so we exited the castle. Did anyone ever notice that Cinderellas mouse friends are on a ledge looking over the lobby?
Overall, Cinderella's Royal Table is probably the best character breakfast I've been too. Excellent food and the theming is spectaclar. Even DH said he wouldn't mind doing it again and that it was cool - which in husband language means he had a good time.
More to come about the rest of our day!
