Hi everyone. Since there are usually questions about Blurb books I thought I would share. It is a 13x11 and there are 204 pages. :scared1: It took forever to do but I am really happy with the results. Here are some random pages.

It looks BEAUTIFUL!!! Thanks for sharing your book!! :goodvibes I'm hoping to get one done as well for my wedding as well. I see you had 204 pages--WOW!!! How long did it take to do it all together??

it looks great Toni!! Such a wonderful momento of your beautiful day!

That looks great. I have been trying to get my act together to do a Shutterfly book. I like Shutterfly but I have so many photos that everytime I start putting together I can't seem to get my photos organized stop.

Seeing your book made me want to start again.

Linda

I wanted to ask a question about your book - is the cover a jacket cover or is it actually printed on the book. I really want it printed on the book which Shutterfly does and I was wondering if Blurb does this also.

Thanks,
Linda

Toni, that tent made a fabulous backdrop for photos - I love it! :goodvibes

I'm not Toni, but yes, Blurb offers an "image wrap" as one of its cover options. :thumbsup2

i have never heard of blurb.... i have made several books through shutterfly, and since i am not having a photographer at our wedding, i was going to use them again for our wedding albums...

Are they cheaper than shutterfly?? Are they easier to use??

I am honeymooning in Disney, so i thought about doing a photobook through them... I pre-ordered my photopass CD and wondering if I should have pre-ordered the book too???

any thoughts on that??

Just curious... your book is gorgeous by the way... I hope my looks half as nice....

To Toni and Lurkyloo - how difficult is Blurb. I have done Shutterfly, but am considering doing a Blurb book for our wedding photos. I like Shutterly but my main problem is I have so many photos and they are kind of all over the place - I really need a place to organize them before making the book. When we received our disks from Misty, she does have them separated but alot repeat and I am having the hardest time.

Toni - you used Misty right? How did you separate all your photos? I am almost willing to pay someone to make a book for us. Everytime I start I get so frustrated I stop. Also, what size book did you make?

Linda

Gorgeous Toni!!! I love it! :lovestruc

Thanks everyone!!!! We are really happy with how it came out!

It took me about a month. LOL. I had so many pictures to go through and it took me a while to figure out how I wanted it set up. I just did a little at a time at night.

Yep. As Carrie said they do have an image wrap option. It is a bit more money I believe (not too much more). I just like the dust jackets for some reason. I got one on our engagement books so I went that way again. :thumbsup2

I have never used Shutterfly but I thought blurb was pretty easy. They have a program that you download onto your computer with all the templates and different backgrounds and effects you can use. You just upload the pictures you want and get started. There are many layouts to choose from. Its actually pretty fun to play around with! My book with 2 day shipping came to $127.00. That is an 11x13 and 204 pages. They charge by the amount of pages you have and the size of book and type of cover.

I did use Misty and she did do a good job separating the pictures into categories but I still had to weed through them. That is what took me the longest. I would suggest making up your own files and putting in the pictures you want in the book. I think it will go faster for you. Blurb is very easy. They give you all the different templates and backgrounds so once you have the pictures it is a very fast process. They also send it out really fast! My book only took a week to get in. I made a 13x11 book but they have so many different sizes to choose from. Also, if you are stuck on how you want it laid out, they have examples you can look at of other books people have done for their wedding.

Just to add my two cents....

The main advantages are that Blurb's software is WAY more customizable than Shutterfly's web-only interface, offers a bigger landscape-format book (11x13, compared to the 8.5x11 that Shutterfly has) that better accommodates wide shots, and has more interesting/customizable page layouts than Shutterfly. Also, Shutterfly doesn't offer a dust jacket - like Toni, I prefer them to the image-wrap (hardcover).

I would say that Shutterfly is probably easier to use, but you have to be happy with their limited options.

You might want to check out the Blurbnation, a directory of people you can pay to design your book for you. I haven't investigated pricing too much, but I have been awfully tempted to just have one of them do our album!

Thanks, I tried loading Blurb onto my laptop and it said there was not enough space. I really need to clean my laptop up.

Still deciding on program to use. Shutterfly does have a 12 x 12 book that I think I would use and I like the printed on cover rather then a bookjacket. Shutterfly also offers a padded cover with the cover printed. I might go that route.

Thanks for the link to having someone make my book. I really want to do it myself. I need to put some time into it.

Linda

Wow! Your book look beautiful! You did an excellent job! :goodvibes

One of the neatest things about Blurb that I haven't seen anyone mention is that you can open it to the public so if you have family or friends who want one they can purchase it as well. I have a friend who sells her artbooks this way. You are able to set your own prices so that it will just cover the cost of the book itself or you can raise the price to help you pay for yours. It's a pretty neat option. :thumbsup2

Your book is gorgeous! I would love to do something like this for my DD (and myself!) for her upcoming wedding! I've only heard of shutterfly, not blurb. I'll have to look into it! :)
