We really LOVED this restaurant. DH had dined here on business a couple of months ago and just craved it ever since. We were going to give the nod to Kona's sticky wings for best appetizer until we went to Shutter's. Man! They were just outstanding! We sent for another order of them. Be warned--they have some kick to them and my 15 year old just found them to be too spicey for him. We got a second order of the jerk chicken quesadillas (with mango salsa) for him and the younger brothers to share. The quesadillas were good, too! They made me think of summer food for some reason.
The salad was beautiful and delicious. It had some kind of fruity vinaigrette on it. Yum!
DH had the jerk chicken again and loved it. I liked it very much, too--but told him that next time he ought to order 2-3 batches of the island wings with a side of potatoes and call that a meal instead! I had the pan seared snapper with yellow rice and sauteed spinach. The snapper was served with some grilled red onions on top. It was wonderful dish! The kids got prime rib and grilled chicken meals. Everyone was happy. For dessert DH and I both had the warm chocolate hazelnut cake. Very pretty. Very disappointing. Two of the boys had Vanilla Bean Cappuccino Creme Brulee. Not good at all. The sugar crust on top was very burnt tasting and the filling was nearly runny. Our 16 year old son had the best dessert of all of us and that was the almond raspberry cheesecake. My regret is that we didn't take the hostesses advice and order the french toast bread pudding with carmelized roasted bananas and coconut ice cream. Bad mistake! I must mention that our two youngest boys adored their kid's sandcastle dessert. It was the cutest preparation with a blue jello ocean with gummy fish swimming in it and a sandcastle made from ice cream rolled in cinnamon sugar. If we had chosen the right desserts we would have given the award for our favorite all around meal to Shutter's. We will go back to this wonderful restaurant again and again!!!
