ist off this was our 9th and 10th cruise with disney. we planned these cruises 2 years ago. we are usually in rooms 2107 and 2109 due to a sea sickness issue my son and i have. well, a couple of days into the 1st cruise 2111 got this horrible sewage smell which then proceded to permeate into 2109. i dont know what happened to 2111 but after the one day the people stayed in there-we could not stay in ours. they moved us to 2624 and 2622-they were quite noisy and also not available for the 2nd cruise. the front people at guest services were so inefficient and uncaring it was not funny. luckily our problem was bigger than them so marc the manager there helped us-he was absolutely wonderful-i can not say enough about him. on the other hand was his superior kyle from the u.s.-he was a moron-ok no backlash from that comment please-he was nothing but arrogant to me. you see we had to carry our stuff with us the sat of the 2nd cruise-because we had no rooms-because suddenly we did not have even our original rooms and i explained to him after waiting to hear from for 5 hours that this was actually a problem with the ship and i should not be penalized for that. so he says what do you want me to do we are already sailing. he also said he knew about our problem but decided to let things work themselves out. so on our 2nd cruise-marc was so nice and found us a room on the 7th floor that my husband and daughters took and my son and i got to stay in 2107. even at the end of the cruise 2109 still smelled i pity the people who are in that room now. marc was in constant contact with disney about our problem and things were taken care of on the ship-financially.
sorry so long-of course this wont stop us from sailing with disney in fact numbers 11, 12 and 13 are already in the works-i think we will go for 2607 and 2609. pirate:

I'm very sorry to hear about your troubles. It's so frustrating when things fall apart on a vacation. The sewage smell issue seems to pop up on every cruise line I sail or read about. Unfortunately it seems to be one of those problems that they all suffer from. I guess it's the nature of the beast...lots of people added to weird plumbing challenges. Again, I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. At least you've sailed DCL many times so you know this was not the norm. Take care and I hope your future cruises are more enjoyable.

Sorry to hear about your experience, I have my own nightmare cruise experience on DCL as well, but were going back, hoping it was an isolated incident. If you don't mind me asking, what do you mean by things were taken care of financially on the ship? :)

marc got us extra on board credit for both cruises and a 25% off voucher for a future cruise. kyle's 1st suggestion was for us to just get off the ship and forfeit the money we spent for our second cruise.

I can't believe Kyle would say such things. I have a friend that had worked with him at WDW and nothing but nice things to say about him.
Sorry to hear you had the smelly problems but they do arise in many of the cabins on a lot of the sailings. Glad to hear you were taken care of by another CM. I would write to DCL to let them know of your experiences to see if you get a response from them, I've never heard from them when I've had complaints and praises.

That's great that you were compensated in some way. It sounded like a miserable experience. Our credit/debit cards were double swiped at guest services, then a security hold was placed on the cards. We had no access to our funds for two whole cruise days, forfeiting excursions and the like.I won't soon forget my DH's face at the ATM in Nassau! This is when we first discovered the mishap. Back onto the ship he went...If it wasn't for the small discount voucher we received for a future cruise :confused3 I don't think he would of done it again!

I'm so sorry about your horrible experience. :sad2: I would be furious if I were told to get off the ship, especially after spending so much $$$! :furious:

We had an awful experience on a Carnival cruise and never sailed with them again. I hope your next cruise is memorable in a positive way! :goodvibes

I think that is terrible that a manager would treat you that way.

We had a terrible sewage small problem on our cruise in our room--8530. First they acted like I was crazy, but it got so bad every time I entered the room I was sure I was going to vomit!! It took several days to clear it up and it never went away 100%. they did not give us any onboard credit--which surprised me because we paid a lot for that suite but did send us a coupon for 15% off a future cruise. I really expected something small onboard to make up for the inconvenience. If this is an ongoing problem it needs to be addressed. You can not be expected to stay in a room that smells like sewage.

Sorry to hear that it happened to you too.
